Shells, shells, some more of the shells - Sevyrn was going to have a whole collection by the time that she got back home, and she didn't even have anywhere to put them. It would be a shame to shove them in a closet and forget about them... then she remembered that strange wishing well she had seen on her way towards the mansion. Could these possibly be the item that the wishing well wanted? If so, what kind of things could she get from it? She wouldn't be able to find out until she left the mansion but she definitely would be stopping by to see if there was anything that caught her eye. A couple more interesting finds to display around the house would be much nicer than having a handful of strange shells just shoved in to a bag, never to be seen again... Well, until the next time that she had to delve in to the closet in search of something.

She didn't even notice the message in a bottle until it was right beneath her feet - and she kicked it out of the sand a lot harder than she had thought she was moving. It flew a feet before landing in more soft sand, and curious as to what had just come out from under her foot, Sevyrn went to check it out. Brin followed behind her, curious as well - what could that have possibly been, anyways? It was like nothing that she had ever seen before! Somehow the glass of the bottle seemed to be intact despite the force of being punted, and it seemed to be in perfect shape. Sevyrn had to wonder what might be inside that bottle - but there was no way that she would be stopping to check here. Despite the sun that had been beating hot overhead, Sevyrn swore she saw the glimmer of twilight on the horizon.

She was lured in to the serenity of the sunset, aching to get herself closer and closer yet like many times before it seemed that she would never be able to actually make it there. Brin trotted along beside her - curious about what was coming, of course, but more so with her girl's preoccupation with whatever was going on. It had been busy a busy interesting day for little Brin, who rarely saw anything beyond the realm of the kennel. Were they going home soon? Brin hoped that they were going home soon - she wanted to go back to her bed and curl up with her big brother after very long and very busy day. Sevyrn was starting to feel the same way, too - how did they get out of here, anyways? At this point she wasn't sure that she would be able to remember the way back out of the mansion.

Sevyrn found herself greeted by sheer beauty as wicker chairs and tables appeared in the distance, a long patio lining the sea. The most interesting part of it was that little house down by the water, calling her in to it - what was this place supposed to be? Intrigued - and tired - Sevyrn knew that this was where she wanted to stay, at least for now. She would settle in to one of those chairs, grab a drink and suck it down through a swirly straw as she closed her eyes and listened to soft waves bask against the shoreline. It was... blissful. The only disturbing the peace was the call of gulls in the distance, yet even that felt like it was right - this was the a beach, after all. Brin curled up in the sand beneath the chair that Sevyrn had stretched out on, happy to find a break herself.

Sevyrn wanted to never leave this place behind - dusky hues, waves lapping and a seemingly endless supply of drinks. Was it meant to lure her in like this, make her never want to leave? Was that part of the mansion's appeal? Was its goal to keep people here forever? Basking in serenity Sevyrn was becoming aware of the trick - and though she was pulled to stay here, she knew that she needed to go home... now. Before the mansion won her over and she never returned to the harsh reality that her true life had to bring her.
How, though? As she rose from the chair she was lured towards that strange little house down on the water. Urging Brin to follow after her Sevyrn began to wander down the sandy beach, watching the orange and purple skyline as she ambled at a slow pace. Was she being lured back home, or deeper within?

A new month brought a new change. A chill shot down Sevyrn's spine as she lingered at the edge of the mansion's boundaries, the soft call of the ebbing ocean replaced with the crisp colors of fall. She knew that this place had a way of playing tricks - she'd learned that hard the first time - and yet it still came as a surprise to her how vastly changeable the surroundings were. What was its reality? What would this place be without the illusions cloaking it and keeping it ever changing? She had to wonder if there had ever been nothing more than a home here - it had to have been at one point. Someone had to have chosen to enchant the building like this, to bring both merry and fraught to those who dared to face its wonders. One visit hadn't been enough. This time Sevyrn had a little mosca hopping along side her. 1

How long had she had this little girl now? She'd grown from a baby in to a fierce adult quicker than Sevyrn had even thought possible, and before she'd even had time to properly bond with her. She'd never been the type to manipulate her creatures' loyalty but she hadn't been able to live with herself knowing that Rachet would never truly know love for her - perhaps that was why she had gone down to the store and picked up an antigrowth potion. She'd heard that those helped with situations like this - where a creature never had the chance to bond in its younger days and became unruly as an adult as a result. She had gotten to choose how far she wanted to revert Rachet and had chosen the juvenile stage - old enough to have a mind of her own, young enough to still learn to love. Sevyrn found herself regretting that choice and wishing she had taken the mosca back to her infancy - nostalgia was a strong motivator.

She was simply happy to be able to get along with the little thing again, though. It was like magic - Rachet cared for her the way she had as a baby again, and become more receptive to letting Sevyrn love her the way that she wished she always had. It gave her the opportunity to bond - and after the anxious wreck she had been taking a baby along with her for her last mansion trip, Sevyrn knew that she wanted a creature with a bit more life experience with her this time around. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to make peace with her mosca, and give her the kind of adventure that she had deserved to have the first time around. Rather than fighting against her, Rachet had been more than happy to jump alongside her. Those little wings of hers were back in their immature form, and while she seemed to be struggling with being unable to fly around, her childlike attitude was back. Nothing was going to stop her from trying.

She'd leap from the ground, flap her little soft wings and awkwardly try to fly around - it wasn't working as well as she would hope, but the moment she hit the ground Rachet was back up in the air trying again. She really, really wanted to get back in the air but she wasn't used to this little body like she used to be, and it just wasn't what it was supposed to be. Her body would bend like a cat's, stomach tucking upwards, only to land on all four paws. After several failed attempts she mewed at her girl, pawing at Sevyrn's boots as she did so. What was going on? The little thing was obviously still coming to terms with what had happened, though she didn't seem upset just... disoriented.
"I'm sorry, Rat," Sevyrn said as she crouched down low, giving the winged feline a good stroke behind the ear.

There was no time like the present to venture forward, to delve straight in to whatever magical mysteries might await her in this month's trip to the mansion. It was only her second time visiting so there was no doubt that she would be in for a surprise - it was just a matter of what it was this time. The entry seemed so inviting - crsip leaves falling from multi-hued trees, ripe red apples just ready for the picking. It had been like that during her last trip, too - not this exact scenery, but the serenity of it. Whatever forces controlled this area wanted to lure people in to its depths, taunt them with its madness and tease them with just enough goodness to keep them curious and wishing to see more. As she walked slowly down the pathway, green eyes flitting about to admire the scenery, she had to wonder if anyone ever let themself get trapped here.

Early fall was Sevyrn's favourite season - as the leaves were just starting to turn and not yet shedding from their branches, the air chilled by shorter days just enough that she no longer felt like she was baking by stepping outside. If the mansion was ever going to trap her it would be in this kind of serenity - Sevyrn found herself playing a very dangerous game and though she knew it, she still craved to walk past those doors and find out first hand just what could come. Rachet was unnerved, though - she stopped dead in her tracks far beyond the staircase, the fur on the back of her neck raised as she hissed towards it. Sevyrn stopped to sooth her, stroking along the soft fur of her back. "Everything is going to be okay," she promised, though she detoured from continuing along the path to stop and grab one of those apples from the tree.

The apple crunched between her teeth as she bit down, oozing sweet juice straight in to her mouth - it had to be one of the most refreshing apples that she had ever tasted. Who would have thought such a thing would come from here of all places? That had to be part of it's strange appeal - did it know what she craved most? Could it see in to her mind and find all of the things that would make her crave to go further, use her desires against her? As she took that second bite she closed her eyes and leaned back against the tree that she had picked it from, pausing to spend just a moment enjoying one of the sweetest treats she had ever tasted. It inspired her to raise an apple tree that would give her fruit this delicious in a few years time - the hard part would be finding the right tree to grow.

Rat slowly became more accustomed to her surroundings, started edging her little body closer and closer to the building tiny step by tiny step. Could she tell that something here was askew? Did she know that this place had a magical aura to it, and that they were about to walk in to it? Did she think that ever-present omnipotence within the mansion was a malignant presence that would hurt either hurt or her girl? Sevyrn wished that she could know why the mosca seemed to be so on edge, but that answer would never come to her unless she picked up one of those fancy 'ribbons of telepathy' and... well, as much as she loved to bond with her pets it felt wrong to force them to let her in to their brain. As much as it would make life easier for her as their owner, she couldn't violate them like that.

She followed - slowly. Rat had been rather upset with how quickly they were progressing with Sevyrn at the helm, so she would leave the movement to the mosca for now. The last thing she needed was an anxious child at her side, flighty and scared and ready to bolt off at a moment's notice if something were to go wrong. No, no - that would never do. It wasn't until the mosca's hackles lowered that Sevyrn dared to step in front of her and gently guide her, offering her sweet words to encourage her to follow behind. Nothing was going to happen to her today - Sevyrn would make sure of that, even if it meant sacrificing her own life to keep the winged kitten alive and well. The lengths to which she would go for those that she cared about were unending, something that this little one was still yet to learn.
