Testing the wiurn's patience with a lot of lessons and commands would quickly grow boring for the beast. Fishing and letting her frolic would let the both of them relax in their own ways. And he didn't want to spend another ten minutes pinned under her bulk. The leopard wandered to his soggy pack, retrieving his tack and bait. His tool of choice was the humble rod. The net might see some use later.. The rod was strung with bait and a fancy hook. Then the man searched for a good fishing spot. His favorite spot was a large rocky overhang which danged over a small waterfall. He figured this would eventually be swallowed up by the river once the dry season ended. So he'd take advantage of it while he could! "Stay near, Mizura", the leopard told the striped beast as he went to his fishing spot. He wasn't afraid of her wandering off, but she did seem prone to losing track of where she was in the mid of her play.

The watery wyvern paused its rain-nipping and glanced at the leopard. He didn't seem to really need her attention.. Whatever he said didn't seem too important, but him heading toward the river seemed dangerous. Who would keep an eye on him if not her? The beast frolicked after the man, making sure to pounce on the particularly large puddles of water and mud on the way. A smile lifted the man's muzzle at hearing the nearby splashing. It would definitely benefit the both of them if that playful energy wore off a bit before they started any lessons. At this rate, it wouldn't be too long. The man settled himself on his rocky perch and cast a line out into the middle of the sluggish waters. He hoped for some strange looking fish - those were much more interesting to reel up than a boring trout. With this rain, there was no telling what might've lurked below the surface.

> A new day, the fishing continues..
It had been a little while since he'd last come to the river. His previous trip proved fruitful, though Mizura provided far too many distractions. And of course, he had to bring the shy, yet playful, wiurn with him to the riverside again. Now in the middle of spring, the rains had brought some better depth to the river, and it was actually worth swimming in now. The rapids weren't fast enough to sweep a person away, but they would prove to be challenging for those who weren't strong swimmers. Xentus wasn't afraid of the depths; he had a giant water-loving reptile to save him. And a handy little necklace that let him breathe water. He wasn't entirely set on taking a swim, but he would should the desire arise. The plan for the day was to catch some fish and perhaps teach Mizura a thing or two. What exactly that would entail, he wasn't sure.

To have the winged beast fly would always be a great choice. Flight was one of his favorite lessons to teach as well. Anything that gave him an excuse to don Papilio was always a good thing. He always wondered why he preferred flying on the back of a beast though.. He supposed there was something far more thrilling about the sound of wingbeats and heartbeats under his body than the roar of rushing wind at his back. But the thing that came first was fishing up some dinner. Or foraging a bit. The swelling water of the river wasn't particularly conductive to foraging shellfish, but there was always the off chance that he'd catch some errant critters trying to hide in cramped holes. The leopard silently pondered over his options. Then was interrupted by a nip to his hair. "Miz!", the leopard cried out as he ducked away from the playful beast.

"Come on now, go play over there, yes?", he shooed the striped wyvern, "Xentus is undecided, certainly, but nipping doesn't help." A cheery hiss escaped the beast, seemingly delighted to have garnered his attention. The creature had an entirely different personality when it got to be in or around water. On the way here, it was mopey and laggard. Now that the glistening waters of the river were in its sights, it had livened up and was raring to go. It probably would be the best for the both of them if they got some of that extra energy out. So it was decided. Xentus headed toward his favorite rocky outcropping to get the fishing part of this venture set up. After his recent trip to the fishing supply shop, he had a good enough stock of bait and hooks to last him a good while. Part of him was fairly excited to see what was lurking about the river.

He'd heard of various larger fish-creatures that inhabited this area and was hoping he'd get the off chance to reel one in.. But he mostly just wanted enough to feed himself, the wiurn if it couldn't catch anything on its own, and some extra to sell or trade later. His last visit was short, but fairly successful. The man hummed merrily to himself as he prepped his line with a hook, a weight, and some bait. He was looking to go for a more.. Set it and forget it kind of fishing style this time around. Especially since he was certain Mizura wasn't going to let him sit there idly watching the river. He could hear the heavy beast's breathing mere inches away from his backside. "Hold on, Miz", he growled over his shoulder, "Let this one finish up, alright? Then he will give you all of his attention, he promises. Until he hears his reel whining, of course."

The wiurn impatiently snorted and snaked its head under the leopard's arm, bumping and nudging whatever he had in his hands. "Mizura!", he barked sternly as the bait he was tussling with went flying. The beast hissed with delight, as if to laugh at the sight of things scattering about. The leopard's feeble attempt to shove the nosey wiurn away only made it hiss louder. This was all play for the beast, it seemed. It frolicked backward a couple of steps before turning away entirely, as if to offer chase. But Xentus was not quite willing to play just yet, much to its disappointment. With the wiurn temporarily away, he took these fleeting moments to secure his line and cast it out into the river's depths. The rod was wedged firmly in a crevice of the rocks then left to idle while he attended to over business. Namely, an overgrown playful lizard.

What... is that sound? Subtle splashing, like something is approaching - and it is, if you look carefully. A pair of yellow eyes peer from the water, observing you and your Wiurn. The line doesn't look too appealing to it, but perhaps those pellets...

The winged reptile was just itching for some attention - and now it finally had it. Its frilled spines raised up high as it saw the grumpy-faced leopard walking toward it. The beast crawled forward with its head snaking playfully in its best attempt to ease the man's mood. And it worked. That sullen look was quickly replaced by a smile. "You silly thing, Miz", Xentus laughed at the sight, "What is this one to do with you, hm?" The silly antics continued on as the wiurn caught sight of the small yellow dots disturbing the water's murky hue. The beast tilted its head.. And continued to tilt - neck twisting about until its head was upside down. Xentus had a hard time stifling his laughter at the beast, but was curious to see what prompted this. His eyes followed where its head pointed and too fell upon those yellow dots. He could just barely make out the form of something rather large. Xentus was almost at a loss at what to do - it wasn't going for the line. He wasn't sure if he could catch it otherwise, but.. This might prove to be an interesting thing to observe at the very least. "Don't scare it, Miz", he muttered to the winged lizard, then slowly creeped toward the water. Those careful steps stopped once he was a few feet away from the water's edge. He crouched down and tossed a bit of bait into the river before the creature, testing to see if it might come closer. The man felt a nudge at his backside as his company stalked after him, thinking it some kind of game.

Oh, boy. The Wiurn is a scary looking thing to the vacera, and it wavers where it lurks, casting glances between the two of you. Is this really such a good idea...? But the bait looks yummy. It hesitates for a second longer, and then swims forward to nab a piece. Any sudden movements are sure to make it nervous...

Now was definitely not the time for the playful wiurn to start up some kind of shenanigans.. He ignored the beast behind him for a moment to marvel at the creature in the water as it went for the bait. It had beady eyes and long luminescent antennae, a flat-yet-long body.. While he would've liked to continue to watch the vacera, the incessant nudging at his back was getting the best of him. "Miz", he half-whispered, half-growled, "No, not now. Lay or.. Something." He peeked gingerly over his shoulder with a scowl. The wiurn wasn't exactly trained much in the way of obedience, but it could tell that the man wasn't exactly up for playful antics. Mizura deflated with a wiurn's version of a pout and sigh, staring down at the ground. Satisfied that the reptile wasn't going to disturb his observation attempts any longer, Xentus returned his attention water to the water and the creature within. He edged forward slowly, peering about the murk for the thing, then dipped in a hand with more scrap pieces of bait. Hand feeding a wild animal was an invitation to get bitten, but also a chance for insight!

The vacera seems emboldened by the Wiurn's lack of movement. It makes a motion as if it might dart off when your hand dips into the water, startled by the ripples, but it doesn't - too curious and hungry to resist, it nudges its fishy snout against you as it takes some bait.
[Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!]

Excellent, it took the bait! The strange fish nibbled at the food in his hand, its whiskers tickling his palm. A fascinating creature; one which he didn't figure he'd find in the river like this. Perhaps it was a migratory species of some sort? Xentus took mental notes on the fish's appearance, hoping to later do some research on it. And as far as his own field research went.. He'd do his best to jot down notes when his hands weren't soaking wet. And assuming the wiurn wouldn't be a pest. Mizura was still pouting, her eyes sheepishly looking in his direction with her head pointed down. He'd need to give her some attention soon. Xentus gave a long exhale and straightened up, leaving the vacera to go about its business. Hopefully it would stay nearby while he attended to the wyvern. "Alright, Miz. What is this one to do with you, hm?"

The wiurn stared at him intently, letting out little grunting huffs as if to speak back to him. Then the giant lizard started crawling off toward the water. She peeked over her shoulder to see if the leopard was going to follow, stopping just short of entering the river. Xentus sighed and sauntered after her. Going in for a dip wasn't the first thing on his mind, but he'd do it to humor the wyvern. Catching some fish sounded far better, but he might be able to forage something by hand. His fingers felt around for the charm around his neck to make sure it was still there; it was some magical trinket to ensure he didn't drown. He thought himself a good swimmer, though. Couldn't be too safe about being in the water. Once she saw her keeper heading over, the wiurn slinked into the water, quickly disappearing under the surface.
