The erratic buzzing of a bee whizzing by made for an interesting target to the young dragon. It did its best to trail after the insect, stumbling over its feet as it waddled. Xentus watched on, amused by its funny walk. The whelp's head and neck just seemed to outgrow the rest of its body. And the little front arms! They kind of just dangled there until the creature tumbled forward enough to use them to steady itself. It took a lot of extra effort, but the dragon soon reached the flower the bee choose to pollenate. At first, it just watched, big blue eyes full of curiosity. Then its mouth opened. It was at the moment Xentus attempted to begin his rescue (though he wasn't sure for who just yet). Either the bee was about to get incinerated or the little dragon was about to learn a valuable lesson in visual warning signs.

Or both. "Tetria!", the leopard called out, "No, no, stop!" The young dragon blinked, then slowly turned its head to peek over at the mammalian rushing over to it. Enough time for the bee to hover away, oblivious to the danger it was just spared from. "Ah, bee's are not food dear Tetria", the man scolded, wagging his finger. The creature tilted its head at these words, mouth still agape. It was proving extremely difficult to not break his assertive stance when looking such a cute little face. He sighed and patted the top of Tetria's head, much to her delight. She wasn't sure what all was going on, but this was fun! And as if on que, the bee came buzzing back into her view, prompting the toddler-dragon to give chase yet again. Xentus was more prepared for what was going to happen and tailed after the little beast.

Not that he didn't expect her to be a handful, but keeping the whelp under close watch was turning to be a an interesting chore. One part entertaining, one part hoping she wasn't going to burn his vegetables or unassuming local wildlife. The bee chose a droopy looking plant to rest on for a moment, crawling about the sweet-smelling, glowing flowers. Among the overgrown weeds in his flowerbed, this one was actually really pretty. And in danger of the dragon's bite. Tetria made her wobbly approach, eyes locked on the bee. The insect was deep within the bell-shaped flower, unaware of the dangerous beast looming nearby.
"No, Tetria. Don't do it..", the man warned, standing over the dragon-oak. The little beast was intent on finding out what bee tasted like, unfortunately. It ignored the leopard and opened its mouth wide, reaching forward and.. Was snatched up. "No", Xentus told the squirming dragon firmly, "That's not food, Tetria."

A whimper escaped the dragon as she squirmed within the leopard's grasp. She was rather unwieldy to keep a hold of for very long, but Xentus did his best to keep her firmly in his grasp to get his point across. It wasn't long before the whelp simply gave up. "Okay, good", the leopard murmured, "Here, this is much better than a bee, Xentus assures you." The dragon was allowed back onto the ground and a couple of blueberries were placed on the ground for her. Tetria seemed a little distraught that the bee had flown away in the time she was held captive, but the blueberries made up for it at least. And while the whelp was occupied with its snack, Xentus took the chance to pluck the glowy, golden flower. First harvest of the day! He'd go around and see what else had taken the chance to grow here, but the little dragon was already looking for more trouble.

Alright, this was a test of his endurance. Trail the baby dragon and make sure it didn't get in trouble. Tetria was done with the bee (mostly because it had flown up and out of her sight) and now was sniffing through the underbrush. All plants and weeds in her path were trampled. Thankfully Xentus didn't care if the plants got stomped on - most of this was wild growth anyway. But he did need to be on the lookout for the occasional interesting herb, flower, or fruit - especially before the whelp got to it. And it seemed the young dragon was on the trail of something far more interesting the meager blueberries. It found a peculiar looking bulbous fruit, giving it a good sniff before opening wide to give it a chomp. "Tetria, no", Xentus growled in warning as he stepped over some thorny bramble to reach the dragon. Whatever she was about to try to take a chomp out of, he needed to be sure it was safe to actually eat.

The strange looking teal fruit the dragon was eyeing looked.. Ominous at best. Tetria paused her attempted nibble as the man growled 'no', taking a moment to weigh out her options. Either take a chomp and be held against her will again or not chomp and never know what this was. A tough choice, but the towering leopard was already threatening to grab her anyway. The young dragon cowered away and backed off. It could only watch as the targeted fruit was taken away by the man, held far out of reach. Now that he could inspect the fruit, Xentus figured it safe enough. Smelled nice, looked strange. Peeling away the outer skin revealed a seed-pocked flesh that tasted more watery than anything. With a shrug, he figured it would be safe for the dragon to eat. It would serve as a nice reward for her patience. "Good, Tetria", the man cooed and offered the creature a slice of the fruit with a pat on the head.

Tetria was delighted to chomp that fruit! Even if it was just a small portion of it. The slice was downed in a single bite with no fuss. And it proved to be.. Not nearly as interesting as the young dragon was hoping. Crunchy water with a hint of planty flavor. Definitely smelled nicer than it tasted. Unsatisfied, the young dragon started sniffing out something else that might end up being worth her time and attention - before the leopard took it away. The man was busy scouring the overgrown weeds in search of anything else that was secretly growing. He'd already snipped another one of those bell flowers and was trying to decide of the spiny red weed was worth anything. A perfect opportunity for a whelp to get into trouble. Tetria waddled through the undergrowth, occasionally nipping at errant weeds in its path. The fiery jaws of the creature spared no leaf or stem that was deemed unworthy.

The leopard kept a keen eye on the dragon as it waddled through the flowerbed. Its unsteady steps and occasional stumble were adorably distracting. As much as he wanted to focus on appraising the various weeds, there didn't seem to be too many that were interesting. Hm, but what was this? A small cluster of banana-like fruits were growing from a woody-stemmed plant. The fruits themselves were drastically different from each other, one was green, another was yellow, a couple were white.. One was even emitting a gentle glow. The man raised a brow at the strange fruits, plucking a white one out of curiosity. Smelled almost sickly sweet, with a heavy banana aroma. It probably tasted exactly as it smelled. Thinking on it, he'd heard of these on the radio. Bunana? That sounded right. He could remember them being suspiciously similar sounding to banana. Orbaru breeders could use them to enhance the colors of bred orbaru offspring.

Unfortunately, the leopard was not much of an orbaru person. They were creatures that he.. Was decidedly not very interested in (aside from the giant-sized mutant he decided to keep). But he figured these fruit things would fetch a nice price in the market for those who were. The bunch were plucked and stashed away carefully so not to bruise them. Satisfied with this find, he returned his attention to the little dragon, who had gotten herself tangled in some overgrown vines. The whelp was flailing and nipping pathetically at the plant which dared to keep it confined. "Tetria.. Come now, Xentus looks away for one second and you've gotten all tangled up", the man sighed, kneeling down beside the dragon. He pat her head and got to work snipping the offending vines. The flailing of the young dragon didn't help freeing her though. "Tetria stop moving! Tetria..", the leopard fussed, trying his best to hold the whelp still.

The young dragon-oak quickly tired herself out from the struggling, finally giving up. Its head thumped down onto the ground with a huff. And.. The leopard paused his vine snipping. There was.. Something odd poking out from the little dragon's leaf-buds. A curious hum escaped the mammalian as he plucked the strange object, revealing it to be some kind of acorn. Dragon-oaks.. Grew acorns? And so young! Though he didn't suppose the acorn was some kind of reproductive thing. The whelp didn't grow from an acorn.. Probably. He wasn't sure. The seed was added to his stash of plants for later research. The whelp had waited long enough. With a few more snips and pulling, Tetria was freed from her constraints. She didn't realize it at first, laying defeated on the ground for a few moments before attempting to move again. The realization hit the young whelp suddenly as she propped herself up onto her feet and was already bumbling away without thanks.

> Some time later...
Oh, how had the young Tetria grew! The whelp had grown from reaching his waist to towering over him in height. And those marvelous wings! She's inherited those gorgeous, broad fan-wings from her mother. Xentus was delighted to see how the young one had developed into a proper garden-protector. Or that's what he was hoping she'd be, anyway. The dragon was still young and bright-eyed, and very curious to everything still. She hardly understood her size and often knocked things over as she tried to squeeze by.
"What is this one to do with you, Tetria?", the man sighed as he witnessed the beast topple over bags of fertilizer. There was no keeping the thing on a leash (well, there probably was but he didn't want to bother), but thankfully it seemed quite happy with keeping secluded to the garden perimeter. Which.. Still needed some establishing, but that was going to be an issue for another day. What mattered the most now was that he had a giant dragon-oak on his hands!

A full grown one, that is. Tetria had always been quite large, after all. Even as a whelp she was larger than her own mother. Which.. He didn't want to contemplate too much about the logistics of which. Whatever mating ritual or process the dragon-oak had to go through to produce young would be one he kept as a mystery that only the breeding center knew. Thinking about it made his head hurt. With a shake, he got himself out of his own mind and back to reality. His garden needed some tending to for the summer.. But he really just wanted an excuse to play with the giant dragon. How ever one did play with such a large beast. He was the sort to try to teach them how to hold his weight and fly. He liked the thought of doing so for Tetria, though perhaps that would be a task for later.
