Looks like you found a good bush for these berries!

All work and no food leaves Xentus an exhausted leopard. The water golem offered on true answer aside from a couple of clicks of its shell, as if to tell him that it was listening at least. He smiled gently at it, then looked around the garden. Too much work to be done, too wet, too peckish. Ah it could wait. The leopard stowed away his tools in the wheelbarrow. He'd be back after a fresh chance of clothes and a bite to eat at a cafe or something.. The land might even be a little more dry for him when he returned.
--
It was a few hours before the mammalian came back to the overgrown garden. Lunch consisted of stuffed mushrooms and a watermelon smoothie, which he felt suited him perfectly. Looking at the yard, he could tell that the sun did start drying things up.. But not by a considerable margin.

The land was still fairly damp and the air was heavy with saturation. Muggy, hot, and overall uncomfortable.. Xentus almost wanted to simply call it quits here and return tomorrow when everything was properly dried out. Procrastination didn't sit well with him. So, begrudgingly, he decided to resume weeding the fence path. The water golem waddled along side him merrily, head shell parted open so that it could soak in the residual bits of water that floated in the air. It could tell its master wasn't the happiest though. But what was there not to love about the weather right now? Xentus took up his tools and began scything the tall grass and weeds. The scraps were collected for composting. Grown from the soil and returned to the soil. He enjoyed this way of thinking. There was no point in letting this go to waste. He could also opt to burn it for ash, but he's much rather use campfire remnants for that.

His compost pile was newly started, only containing the scraps of some food and poop from some of his animals. He didn't want it to consist too much of manure, as that'd add way too much unneeded byproduct.. These weeds would balance things out, hopefully. Dried, mixed, and aged for a couple of season and then it would serve as excellent fertilizer. The thought motivated him slightly more. Some of these weeds were kind of tough, with thick woody stems to hack through.
His mind wandered. If he had brought one of the fire walkers, he could just burn all of this down.. That would make it easier to work through. Then again, he wouldn't want a fire to get out of hand.. Besides, it was probably too damp for a proper fire to blaze. A huff escaped him as his eyes drifted over to the water golem in his company. It seemed to stare back at him.

The golem's inner seed was carefully hovering near the crack that parted its shell. It shimmered in a pretty blue tone, observing all that was visible from within the safety of the shell. Usually, it was focusing on its one and the things around him. The safety of its bonded was its top priority.. Even if in this state it was a somewhat feeble creature, it still had some control over its element, and could use it if it came a situation where it was pressed to. Until such a case occurred, it was content staying close, keeping guard, and providing company.
The leopard continued on, slowly mowing down the weeds. There wasn't much else to do except think about whatever came to mind.. His unfocused eyes caught a glance at yet another bellaberry bush though, which had two untouched fruit growing on it. More for a salad later or something. They were quickly harvested and examined for pests, which thankfully they seemed clear of.

Wild growing plants were an enigma sometimes to him. They could brave the harsh reality of nature, growing in the worst conditions - thriving in them even. And yet, one could take the same plant and grow it in a carefully planned and curated environment, only for it to die. How did these things work? Cacti almost hated water, thriving best in arid places. One kept captive as a houseplant could be forgotten for a week and still be fine. If spoiled, it might wilt and rot. Then weeds, like the ones he was cutting down now. They could grow even between cracks in concrete. Hardy, yet without any desirable traits.. Which was likely why they were so hardy in the first place.
The golem stayed dutifully close to the leopard, waddling in the newly trimmed path that the man carved. It seemed to appreciate the more traversable terrain. It continued keeping watch, waiting for something to dare try to interfere with its master.

A breeze rustles through the trees and grasses. Did you hear something drop...?
[Nothing happens.]

Ever dutiful and watching, the water golem did its best to protect its master. There were unknown dangers that lurked in the weeds and grasses. It waddled close by the man's tail so to not interfere with his work. There was nothing that it didn't see. It watched the culling of weeds. It surveyed the birds flying overhead. It felt the lingering moisture in the air. Perhaps the only things that truly escaped it was whatever rested beneath the ground. Whatever was down there would do well to stay there though.
The leopard found himself falling into a rhythmic motion. Slice, pluck, root, dump. Every few steps in the cycle, he would push the wheelbarrow up on the newly cleared path. Rather slow, thoughtless work, but work that needed to be done. He looked up ahead at what was left to tend to.. Which was much more than he was hoping for.

Xentus hummed a sigh and went back to work. Wet, messy, grass-smelling work. Building up the garden was going to take a while, and he had to keep reminding himself of this. It probably would be more enjoyable if he were nice and dry. Comfortable at least. He was starting to regret working in the damp aftermath of a storm. Perhaps he'd work on this a little while longer, fill the wheelbarrow, then call it quits for the day. There was no shame in prioritizing comfort over progress. Besides, he had other matters to attend to. Xio was waiting for a shipment of feed to the keep, and he did want to check to ensure that it arrived properly. His eyes wandered to the golem, merrily following after his tail. It was such quiet company when nothing disturbed it. He could feel its seed looking back at him, as if to wonder why he'd stopped working.

"How would you feel if work were to pause here and resume on a ah.. Drier day?", he almost sheepishly asked the golem. It might enjoy the moisture and rain and wet, but he didn't nearly as much. He didn't mind dirt, he didn't mind rain, he didn't mind mud, but that didn't mean such things weren't uncomfortable after a certain point. And he was reaching that point. The golem would understand, right? Or at least know his distaste in the current setting. It clicked in response to his words, as if to offer its opinion. Which he took as it saying 'no master, that's okay'. Of course, nothing hinted at this whatsoever, aside from the innate agreeable nature the being had with his desires. "Very well, let us wrap up for now and continue tomorrow or so", he announced with a hint of relief in his voice. A better day would await them.

It had been a few days since his last visit to the garden. Thankfully, since it was early in its building phase, there wasn't need for frequent tending.. Though some of the parts that were cut down might have grown back up a bit. The summer rainstorms prompted the leopard to give the place a rest for a short while, at least until there was a bright and sunny day in the forecast. He was not looking to get rained on again.
In his company was the same water golem with him, trotting on three legs after its master. It was a little more plump after recent feedings with slightly longer limbs and a little more energy in its step. It still waddled more than it walked, but this was a feature the leopard found was oddly charming for the tripod. Xentus stood at the spot where he last left off, patting the golem on its shell-like head.

"Back to work", the man announced, surveying his tools of choice. The wheelbarrow had been emptied into the compost days before, and now contained a rake, scythe, and machete. The sword was a new entry to his gardening tools, one he would reserve usually for vines and dense undergrowth of a rain forest. It might not see much use, but it was an option. Still, the leopard chose to start with the long staffed scythe. It simply seemed like the best tool for getting tall weeds and grass managed. He took a moment to sharpen the blade against a whetstone, raking the metal against the rough surface a few times before starting.
The golem was already on guard, though seemed a bit perturbed by the interference caused by all the noise. It shuffled uncomfortably in place, unable to hear the going-ons in the garden clearly. It had to trace every little thing, scanning for danger. Its master could be in peril at any moment if it let its guard down for even a second.

Through the sound of scraping, the golem was able to hone in on something near the trees. With its master distracted, it had to investigate. The creature wandered away from the leopard and into the dense overgrowth of weeds and grass toward the scant line of trees that bordered the garden. It wasn't too far away from its master, though this was probably one of the first times that it decided to venture out on its own volition. Up in the tree perched atop a low branch was a small rodent, tail flicking about as it gnawed on summer fruit. The water golem loosed a wary click at the creature, as if warning it of its intrusion into the master's garden. It wasn't welcome here, at least not as far as the golem was concerned.
The click was enough to draw Xentus's attention toward the strange being and its even stranger habits.

A pointed ear led his blue eyes in the right direction, witnessing as the squirrel dropped the pit of the fruit it was chewing on, which then caused the golem to clatter with alarm. A quick burst of water was shot out from the walker, dousing the offending rodent and causing it to scurry away deeper into the treetop. "What was that all about?", the leopard called out to the knee-high walker, chuckling. He'd never seen it do that before. At most, it would usually clatter its head-shell and cause a scene, but never did these things try to attack something. Then again, they haven't experienced anything that posed any semblance of a threat. A pit tossed casually from a low branch in a tree? Probably the first offense the little thing had ever witnessed. To see it retaliate in a more 'aggressive' means was something new. It would seem the golems needed to be provoked into action.
