By this point in time, Sevyrn did not need to be talked in to a camping trip. Her and Quinn had taken their first earlier in the year, as summer had started to approach - and as strange as it had been, she’d enjoyed it. Quinn had taught her some basic survival skills and they’d gotten intoxicated by a campfire on a mixture of wine and the weed growing in the back of Sev’s garden. many of their trips had been similar - maybe a little bit of hiking or trail walking, but mostly just the girls minding their own business at their little campsite.
Fishing was about the only time that Sevyrn had ever noticed Quinn keep her mouth shut for more than a few minutes, too, and as much as she loved the woman the quiet was definitely a perk in her eyes. Some people just didn’t know how to appreciate silence.

It wasn’t too much longer before the girls came across the site that Quinn had been talking to - the redhead came to a sudden halt as they came across a clearing, super man posing right in front of Sevyrn so abruptly that the young woman didn’t have time to stop herself. Sev collided with her friend’s backside and Quinn lost her balance, stumbling forward before her head swivelled around to stare at Sevyrn with wide eyes. “What the fuck was that for?” She exclaimed, though there was no malice in her tone.
“That’s what you get for freezing right in front of me!” Sevyrn returned as she watched their two feline companions dash ahead. Quinn’s eyes followed the pair as well, and she shook her head as she tried to regain her composure.
“Alright!” Quinn said. “Let’s get set up, I’ll take the tent if you wanna go find some firewood?”

Just like that, the pair fell in to preparation of their little campsite - as Quinn got their tent set up, Sevyrn was off grabbing firewood from the nearby tree line. Luckily it hadn’t rained recently so there was plenty of dried material that would make a great base for their fire, and once a decent selection had been gathered she got Quinn’s help pulling a log over to become a place for them to sit by the fire. Inside the tent Quinn had set up all of their sleeping gear, and the girls’ tackle boxes and fishing poles found a spot at the edge of the campsite closer to the river. It was going to be a peaceful little occasion! After settling down, the girls moved down to the riverside. The water level was low but there was likely still something waiting in the waves for them. It was time to try to catch dinner! Delia seemed pretty interested in the river, too. 135 Delia - 1

Uh oh. You feel a tug on the hook, but even as you try to reel in... whatever snagged it has managed to get away. What a bummer.
[Nothing happens.]

Another day (more like few months), another fishing trip - and this time Sevyrn had left home on her own. Usually she liked to bring a buddy along with her but today she’d found herself feeling quite grim and though fishing was not one of her favourite things in the world, it did offer her the opportunity to head out by herself and get some near-total peace and quiet. It didn’t take much to prepare for - all of her gear was in a box tucked in to the closet near her front door, and once outside she could hose down the little aquarium she put in her wagon to be able to bring anything she found home with her. Easy peasy, right? The journey was quiet, calming. It was the dry season so the waters were shallow, though the muddy shore from earlier in the season had dried up so it was easier to reach the narrower stream of water that remained. Her wagon would still have a tough time maneuvering through the uneven terrain so she kept to the paths for a little while, until she caught sight of something beneath a dock she had come across many a time. It seemed like fate that she was coming down that way today - something had to be there! 136 (tbb 1)

She parked her wagon by the rickety dock and then ducked beneath it, the shallows of the season allowing her to get beneath and closer to the water where she’d caught sight of something beneath the surface. At the edge she crouched down low, highly appreciative of how the mud had dried as the lack of rain left it no room to be soft beneath her feet. She pushed her glasses up her face and peered in to the water, narrowing the green orbs as she hoped to figure out what was in the waters.
For a moment nothing happened - no more ripples, no more oddities beneath the surface. Sevyrn had just clambered back to her feet when that changed, though, and several feet out she swore she caught sight of something fish-like beneath the surface of the water. It was hard to make out what she was seeing, but it seemed to be big.

She crouched back down to get a better look, and that was when the creature in the water poked its nose out of the surface of the water - a pale pinky brown that turned darker as it reached the nostrils, lined with small cheetah-like markings. As soon as a pale orb-like structure poked out of the water between two heterochromic eyes, Sevyrn realized what she was seeing,
“Oh! You’re a seryn!” There was shock in her tone, and the volume made the unknown seryn back off a bit - it dipped back beneath the surface of the water and swam off. Sevyrn swore the creature was gone until she saw it poke it’s face back up in the distance. Ah - perhaps she had only concerned it rather than scared it off entirely. The next few moments seemed to drag on as Sevyrn watched, keeping a patient but careful eye on ther seryn as it slowly swam back towards the shallows.

"Hey, little buddy, it's alright," Sevyrn said as the little fishie moved back towards the shore. Once up close it poked its head out from beneath the water and Sevyrn was able to admire its beauty for what it truly was - she had never seen any seryn that looked like this before. The seryn was rather pretty, and definitely unique - how had a little guy like this made its way in to some poor old river? Had someone left it behind? Had it been some kind of failed experiment, or was it being here pure coincidence?
"You are rather stunning," she said to the seryn in that soft, soothing tone of hers saved for animals who were afraid or otherwise wary. She'd already scared this poor thing once and she didn't want to do that again. "Were you released out here? Or have you been out here this whole time? I have some seryn back home, if there's no one out there looking for you."
