Spot didn't want to be loved, he wanted to shake off his wet fur - and he did so with force, water spraying all around him including all over Sevyrn. It was a good thing that Sev had already been in the water so she was already wet, it seemed - though she was rather displeased that her glasses got soaked by water droplets. She couldn't actually see with those obscured, after all.
Luckily her backpack had Spot's treats as well as her cleaning cloth, so she was going to have to head over there anyways. She called for the pup to follow after her and did her best to see the way straight to her bag... there it was. She fumbled around for her glasses case first, Spot could wait until she could see right, and only once she had dried her lenses off did she pull out the pup's reward for his effort.

The pup went wild over getting his snack, and Sevyrn used his time of distraction as an opportunity to dry herself off a bit - luckily it was mostly her legs that were wet, given that the pair had never wandered deeper in to the water than about her thigh level. After that was all done... well, they had one thing left to get done today. Would Spot be up to the challenge? The little thing had probably never seen a fish in his life, let alone had any idea how to catch them. If she had managed to train Bez on how to fish, then she would be able to do that with Spot here too, though. They had everything that they needed to move forward, and Sev even had her tackle box and fishing rod attached to her bag for if they decided to stick around after Spot was finished.

"Guess what we're going to do next?" Sevyrn posed the question to the pup beside her, who had finished his snack and now cocked his head towards her in excitement. What was next - was it playtime? Spot really hoped that it was playtime! He wasn't in luck this time around though, with him knowing how to swim now Sevyrn wanted to get straight on to the next task. There would most definitely be some time to hang out and play in the near future though, the pup's last hurrah before he was presented to the goddess and got to grow up just like his sister!
"You and I are going to do something funky, okay? I want to show you how to fish!" Spot had utterly no clue what Sevyrn was saying, but she seemed to be excited about it so he had to be a well! What was fishing, anyways?

Sevyrn figured that this would be a good time to set up her own line, and she could leave it perched in to the ground to check on if anything seemed to start biting. She threw on a basic hook, cast it out, and shoved the butt of the rod between two secure rocks. She tugged at it to make sure that it would be secure, and then let it be. Spot seemed interested in what she had just done, so she crouched down to talk to him face to face.
"That's my way of fishing, but you're not going to be able to work a rod, so I'm going to be teaching you another method, okay? Does that seem interesting to you?" The pup barked in response, so Sevyrn brought him to the waters edge.
"If you see anything by the shore, you might be able to just scoop it up." After she said that she demonstrated doing her hand beneath the surface and pulling up some of the river flora with it.

Sevyrn kept up what she was doing until Spot started to repeat the gesture in turn, swiping towards the bottom of the water until his paw broke the surface of the water either a strange green worm thing hanging off of it. He seemed rather bothered by it, and cocked his head with a look of disgust.
Then... faster than Sevyrn could even praise him for pulling something up, he tried to eat the God damn worm. "No" Sevyrn called to him in disgust - worms made for great garden additions and Sevyrn just... really did not want to have to witness Spot gulping one down. The pup stopped and looked at her in confusion.
"You did really good pulling this up," she assured him as she detangled the worm from three of his claws. "You did. I promise. I am very proud of you - but you're not eating that, it's coming home with us." That little plant she had pulled up was going home with them, too.

After putting their new finds in to something safe, it was time to get back to work! Sevyrn checked on her fishing rod before noticing that Spot was already back at it without her - he seemed to really like this. He probably just thought that he was playing in the water, but Sevyrn hoped that being able to pull up some finds would help him realize that he was doing more than just playing.
"Are you fishing again?" Sevyrn asked him, playing along once again - she shuddered when her hands wrapped around something thin and kind of slimy. Was it another worm? It was definitely another worm - that could be set aside for safe keeping as well.
Then she saw it! There was a fish swimming close to the edge of the water. "Go fish," she said to the pup, pointing out the moving body. Spot got hyped up at the sight of it, he had never seen anything like it before!

Spot swiped at the fish in the water but his movement missed, and the fish was scared off. Oh well, that was okay. "That was a good try, buddy - don't give up now. You will get better with time." Hey - he had already caught something when trying for the first time. It was a worm, but it was something.
Another one swam by, far enough out that Spot wasn't going to be able to just swat at it and get it. That was okay, they would figure something out.
"Go fish," Sevyrn said to him, pointing out the fish swimming a couple feet away. She had been about to tell him to jump in and go after it, but he beat her to the punch. Spot hopped in to the water and caught the fish with a stray paw, disorienting it enough that he was able to get a hold of it.
He looked so proud paddling along with that brown and red fish flopping in his mouth.

Once he had climbed back on to dry land Sevyrn took the fish from him, and she found herself surprised at just how gentle his grasp on it had been given how securely he had held it. It seemed to be in pretty good shape, and it could get tossed in the aquarium - Squirt and the seryn would love having a new fishy buddy to hang out with after the pair were done here.
"You caught the fish!" Sevyrn said to the pup in an excited tone, and in return he tried to climb on to her lab wet body and all. His front paws went up to her shoulders to lick at her chin and face, and suddenly there was no reason for Sevyrn to have kept her clothing dry earlier... Spot had gotten her soaked from head to toe.
She gently shoved the houlou off of her, and told him to try again.

The pup decided that it was time for an impromptu break and ran off towards one of the trees to relieve himself, only to come back and nose at Sevyrn's backpack. Was he hungry? Thirsty? Did he want her to pull that balm back out. Sev could create a solution for the first two, but it wasn't play time just yet - they still had some work to be done before they would be calling training time quits. Sevyrn put out both food and water for the pup to ingest as he saw fit, and once Spot was sated he wanted to go back to the water!
He barked towards Sevyrn who gave him an affectionate pat before telling him to go fish. Around the same time she noticed a pull on her line, so as Spot swiped at the water in hopes of pulling something up again, she reeled in a rather stony looking fish.

Sevyrn caught sight of Spot managing to pull up a small shell, it slipped against the wet rock and down towards the soft grassy ground near by. He was doing so good! Sevyrn was proud of her little fishing natural.
Spot looked to her for approval after he had lifted the shell out of the water, and Sevyrn's face beamed a wide grin as she leaned down to pick the shell up off the ground. "Did you do this?" She asked him, already knowing the answer to that question. "What a good job, Spot! Keep fishing!"
If they got really lucky another fish would come by, and Spot would be able to get more practice catching something moving. In the meantime Sevyrn needed to get her rod back in position - luckily that last fish hadn't done any damage to her hook... it looked like it easily could have if it wanted to.

After casting the line back out Sevyrn settled down at the shoreline, watching Spot splash around in the shallows. His gestures weren't playful like they had been early on - it seemed that he had most definitely realized that if he did this he might be able to pull something out of the water and that Sevyrn wanted him to be pulling things out of the water - fish, plants and even worms, it was all welcome to the girl! Although Spot was still a rambunctious pup, he still had quite an innate desire to please his girl, whatever she might want.
"Keep fishing," Sevyrn encouraged, reaching in to the water and grasping at some of the seaweed to show the little guy that he was still doing things right. Spot barked at her in exictement as her hand broke the surface with stands of green falling between her fingers

Oh, look! Sevyrn caught sight of a small body swimming slowly along with the current a couple meters out, minding his own business without a care in the world. She nudged Spot to get his attention and pointed out the unaware fish in the distance. "Go fish!" She said and immediately the pup was off, making good air as he leaped in to the water and landed just shy of his prey with a large splash. His paw went to swoop at it but he missed - and then the fish's true speed came to light. Spot tried his hardest to swim after it but the fish was faster and once Sevyrn figured it was a firm no-go she recalled the pup.
"That was a very good try, Spot," she assured, giving him a good scratch on both ears as he hit land again. "No one catches the fish every time, you did your best!"

It seemed that something caught Spot's interest in the distance, because almost immediately after getting back in the pup hopped back in to the water. He swam out quite the distance, but Sevyrn couldn't tell what for... she was especially confused when he dived beneath the surface- it only took a couple seconds of not being able to see the pup in the murky water before panic set in. She started calling out to him, ready to hop in after if he didn't surface, and right as she had been about to the pup's head broke water. Sweet relief flooded Sevyrn - and then confusion. He had something orange in his mouth? It wasn't until he got closer to the shoreline that Sevyrn realized he was holding a starfish of all things. "You really are good at this, huh?" She said to the pup as she took the starfish from Spot - he looked so proud of his find. Maybe something would come upon her line soon... 105 Spot - 15 Fishing - 10
