Quinn was without a doubt the adventuring type - ready to up and leave the city behind with ease. Given that Sevyrn had been surprised that the woman had ever come back, the day she left the city behind years ago Sevyrn had sworn it would be the last day that she saw Quinn despite the other woman insisting that she would be back one day. When she had come back there had been so many stories to tell - mountain hikes, the ocean's waves...
With everything going on, Sevyrn was half tempted to ask the other woman to take her on a full-on adventure, maybe go visit the seaside village where her father had grown up. She hadn't been down there in years, not since before her father had passed away. Sevyrn would... not be the most adept travel companion, however. Perhaps a quick trip in to the wild was the best way to start.

The pair walked out down the road in tandem, Quinn moving easier given her experience carrying around the weight of camping supplies. They did as Quinn said they would and stopped by Sevyrn's home on the way back, at which point Sevyrn loaded her tacklebox in to the backpack she already carried and secured her fishing rod to the side of it. She assumed that they would be settling down somewhere with a little lake on it, given that Quinn had suggested they bring along fishing gear. Before she dared to walk back out she double checked that her first aid kit had been packed - nope. Sevyrn quickly detoured in to her bathroom to pull out the kit. Anything could happen at any time - it was best to be prepared.
The more that Sevyrn thought about it, the better this idea sounded - and hell, she could learn the survival bits. Quinn wasn't about to push her through something she wouldn't be able to handle.

After heading out her front door Sevyrn locked the front door and detoured to make sure that the latch to the gate was securely closed - there were a handful of critters in the back yard who may have tried to use a left open gate to escape and that... would have been a problem, especially if they escaped early on during the trip and had a few days of roaming around the block and maybe farther before Sev could even realize that they were gone. Luckily Al was the most likely to pull that kind of stunt, but even she would rather just curl up in to one of the flower pots and get in to her vegetable garden. The half-breed was a most-definite shit disturber.
"You have water on you?" Quinn asked, needing confirmation even though she knew damn well she herself had packed Sevyrn multiple bottles. People could survive weeks without food... water? Not so much.
"Yeah, I think so," Sevyrn said, reaching one arm behind her to pull the zipper of her backpack down and reach around. Ah! There they were, two water bottles next to each other and maybe one under it? "I'm good. Let's go."

"You know that I know like... nothing about outdoor survival, right?" Sevyrn double checked as the pair walked along, slowly making their way towards the edge of town.
"Oh, believe me - I know. You'll learn some things, though - and it'll be useful things to know. Fuck, an apocalypse could hit tomorrow and what would you be able to do with it? Would you know how to make sure you had clean drinking water? How to hunt, forage? How to fix up something more useful than a little cut? How to build a shelter or a fire? It's not just stuff that outdoorsman should know, Sev. We're getting you learned this weekend." Quinn genuinely seemed to be excited about that which was... odd, to Sevyrn. What was so great about teaching someone how to look after themself?
"Hey - I definitely know how to forage. Well... I know a fuck ton about what's good and what's not, at least. I'd be set there," Sevyrn returned - that was the only point that she was able to counter, however.

"Yeah, yeah - you're right. I'll have to give you that much." Quinn got a chuckle out of that - she was not surprised that Sevyrn couldn't counter anything else, she knew exactly the kind of city girl that Sevyrn was. Last she checked the girl couldn't even swim! "Hey - I can teach you to swim, too. See? There's so much basic stuff that you really should know, just in case."
"Actually I do know how to swim now, thank you very much." There was a faux haughtiness to Sevyrn's tone as she quipped back, her nerves starting to grow as they reached the edge of the city limits. It seemed that they were committed to this trip now, no turning back. As much as Sev was happy to be getting out with her friend, and it was objectively a good thing that Quinn wanted to teach her a few survival skills, she just... wanted to be at home.

It wasn't long before Sevyrn was trudging along behind Quinn rather than following in stride, and the other woman seemed to notice and slowed down her pace.
"What - ya tired already? We haven't even reached the woods yet, Sev." Quinn laughed and then stilled, looking towards the young woman with a humorous smile on her lips. "Still got a long way yet... You can't get tired now."
"How long is this trip, anyways?" Sevyrn asked back, grateful that Quinn had stopped for a moment.
"We're about half way to where I dip in to the woods, and then about twenty minutes to the lakeside. You got another 40 in you?" Had.... had it really only been twenty minutes since they left the city behind so far? It seemed that Sevyrn had been incredibly lacking on the exercise front... she had been sure that she wouldn't get tuckered out this quickly.

Quinn seemed to have predicted exactly how well Sevyen would fare, however. The redhead took it easy and slowed down. She really didn't mind - it just meant that she could spend more time appreciating the nature around them. Despite the fact that she had never been an outdoorsy person, Sevyrn found being out in nature to be rather enjoyable as well. It wasn't that different from being in the garden... just a lot more exercise.
"Alright, we're turning here," Quinn said as they reached a spot on the road where a small path had been beaten down in to the grass beside it. Obviously this was a common spot for hikers and campers to want to head out - that had to be a good sign that they weren't roughing it out too drastically.
Sevyrn already knew that about twenty more minutes to walk, but she really hoped that it would be over soon.

Sevyrn felt dead to the world by the time that they reached Quinn's campsite, and the other woman was happy to let her flop down straight on to the ground and just lay by the lake side like a dead fish that had been washed up by a wave. She could use a break before they settled down, anyways - a chance to sit down and rest for a moment, take a drink. She had been down to this spot so much that she had even fashioned a kind of picnic table out of some chopped up logs - why Sevyrn had chosen the ground instead she had no clue.
"Are you ever getting up?" Quinn asked Sevyrn after she had finished with her drink and a quick snack and the woman still hadn't moved an inch. Huh... it seemed that she really had been tuckered out by the adventure down here.

"No." Sevyrn's response was curt, though the look in her eyes showed Quinn that she really did mean well. Sev just really didn't want to get moving - her legs were tired, her back sore from carrying so much weight so far... She was definitely a city girl, especially compared to wild and wacky Quinn who was most at home when out in nature. The girl knew damn well what she had been doing trying to drag Sev out here in the first place, so she would just have to live with the consequences of her actions.
"Well we have a tent to pitch, Sev."
"I don't know how."
"Yeah... I know. That's why I'm going to teach you. Get up off your ass and let's get moving. We're gonna want a place to sleep tonight, as nice as the weather is there is going to be a fuck ton of bugs and I know you don't want to be a part of that."

Sevyrn shivered at the thought of spending the night out in the open, where spiders and other creepy crawlies could walk all over her body like they somehow owned it. Yeah, Quinn knew how to get her moving - the young woman quickly hopped to her feet after that (partially because she swore she could feel the bugs crawling all over her already). It didn't take too long to get the tent up and functional but Quinn sure had a hoot watching Sevyrn manage to mess up something as simple as driving a tent peg in to the ground.
Yeah, yeah - laugh at my expense. Just remember you have to share that tent with me and I will get you back for this, Sevyrn thought to herself, though she understood it was all in jest. Quinn always meant well with Sev, always just wanted to show her the best in the world - she just really liked to tease.
