The moment that Sevyrn brought Spacemonster home, she was utterly in love with him - he had his dad's beautiful black base sprinkled with the white-speckled bright hues in his stripes that his mother gave her and above all that - he was a he! Sevyrn knew that it was harder to get her hands on male orbaru than female, at least of the new varieties, and she was pretty impressed with herself when she walked home with that boy. He was... special, it seemed, with that creepy wide sharp-toothed grin, but he was perfect to her nonetheless and that was all that really mattered, right? A face that only a mother could love? And boy did Sevyrn love him - he'd already replaced his father as one of her favourite orbaru, and Sevyrn had thought that she would never like anything more than the beautiful bright-on-black design of the rainbow ribbon breed. Of course, she still had Rainbow to thank for the fact that she even got her hands on this specimen - his genetics were part of what made it possible, and Sevyrn found herself incredibly hopeful that one day he would bring more interesting babies just like Spacemonster in to the world.

Who was Sevyrn supposed to breed him with, though? That was always the hard question. Admittedly she had a whole horde of original orbaru but they were very... plain. She loved them to death, but there was no way she could consider them breeding stock now that she had ventured in to the more exciting possibilities - except maybe Cyprus. There would surely be another orbaru that Sev came to own that she would wish she could have a more pastel, lighter-colored version of that the albino would be perfect for situations like that. She didn't want to go back to the same place that she had gotten Trip, as she had already stopped by in the last couple days to borrow a pachee. That was when it hit her - she was pretty sure that the Orbaru Zu advertised that they were willing to let breeders borrow one of their Orbaru temporarily. It seemed like the perfect plan! As soon as she thought of it she left Spacemonster and the other Orbaru to mind their own business in their cushy room of the kennel, and marched her way down to the Zu to see if they had any interesting orbs to bring to the table.

Once she got to the Zu, Sevyrn took her time - as soon as she told the lady in charge that she was thinking of borrowing one of their females to breed, they were happy to show her around and let her know all about each member of the collection, from their personalities down to who if anyone had donated them. With so many different options - so many colors, so many different styles - it was hard to pick just one to take back home with her. In the end, Sevyrn made up her mind - there was one little girl there with a deep purple, almost black, base fur color and bright neon green and orange stripes that reminded her of glowsticks. She was the perfect match! Not to mention she was one of Sevyrn's favourite styles of revamped orbaru, and she couldn't lie - she was hoping that there was some kind of genetic link from parent to child in terms of style. She loved the "arrgh!" breed that made Spacemonster look so creepily stunning, and the soft, rounded bodies and lazy demeanor of the sloth variety also appealed to her a lot. Of course... she had bred two regular orbaru and walked away with a silky, and as far as she was aware none of Spacemonster's relatives were of the same variety.

A girl could hope, though! No matter what she was going to love whatever resulted from the breeding that she had in mind... though it could turn out like round one did where she liked one of the babies a little (read: a lot) more than the other. No matter what they were going to be in good hands, though. She was incredibly enthusiastic as she asked the Zu's owner about taking this girl with her, and she come to find out that the little lady of her choice was named "Hi-Vis"... Well, she did look kind of like a high visibility vest, given the almost-glow to her neon stripes. It suited her! Sevyrn loved her before she even really knew her, and was sure that she would make a great cross with Spacemonster. If she was really lucky today then that deep purple that covered the majority of Hi-Vis's body would come out in at least one of the babies. Like usual, Sevyrn had one of the baby fruits prepared for the day - those were more than worth the chump change that they costed given the effect that they had, and Sevyrn always wanted to have one on hand.

"Alright, you and I are going to head back to my place," Sevyrn said to the little orbaru as the Zu's keeper helped load her in to Sev's wagon, which was probably going to make for a much more comfortable adventure than having to amble along side the full grown woman's wider stride all the way to the kennel and then the breeding center. The hard part was meant to be Sevyrn's today - she wanted the little girl (and pretty soon the little guy as well) to be as happy and relaxed as possible the for the entire journey that they were on. Eventually they reached the kennel and Sevyrn loaded the little lady out, walking her in to meet her Orbaru for a few minutes. Spacemonster... didn't seem to be too interested in what was going on. He was friendly, sure, but he was one of the more secluded members of the troupe. While the majority of the group tried to glomp on her, some too lazy or tired to go out of their way to see her, Sevyrn made her way over to the boy and knelt down in front of him. As she gave him a little pat, Spacemonster gave her that creepy-yet-cute grin of his.

What an adorable little egghead - he probably didn't know just how creepy that sharp-toothed smile of his was. It added to Spacemonster's appeal, in a way. Sevyrn didn't have much to do with creepy - the only thing she owned that wasn't gentle was her seeker Osiris, who she had raised from an egg with no idea what it would end up growing in to - but this little orbaru was definitely one exception that she could make. "You gonna eat me?" She teased, though she knew that he wouldn't understand what she had just said to him. As she stayed knelt down there in the orbaru room, the lady that she had picked up was curiously investigating the new surroundings - by that, she was bouncing around the room saying hello to every single one of Sevyrn's orbaru one by one. Well... at least one of the pair was affectionate - that would make this a lot easier than if neither of them really enjoyed company. Sevyrn took her time just hanging out with Spacey until Hi-Vis had made her rounds and finally reached the back of the room to introduce herself to her new potential mate. Hopefully this would go over well...

Spacemonster seemed interested in the stranger, but not nearly to the degree that Sevyrn had hoped so it - it was more "who are you?" than "I think I could like you". She hadn't expected anything different from him, though - he tended to be indifferent to others, especially to start off. The day that she brought him home she had thought that he was shy given how much he had gone out of his way to avoid the others but no... he was just a hermit. That wasn't so unlike herself, though - with her partner now gone, Sevyrn spent most of her time on her own. The only exceptions were when she was making time for the creatures that she cared for, and those weren't even other people... And there Monster was - not minding her, but not very interested in getting involved with his own species. His unique, aloof personality charmed Sevyrn, who loved to be the one with the edge case. Orbaru were supposed to be happy-go-lucky, cheery social creatures and there she was... with a hermit for a boy. If that creepy grin didn't make him strange enough, then the fact that he didn't fit the mold would do it for him.

Alright - the pair had their introductions done and over with, and it was time to head out. Sevyrn had a feeling that Spacemonster wasn't going to enjoy being put in to the wagon with an almost total stranger, but it had to be done. They would have all the bonding time in the world after they finally got to their destination. The Zu was expecting Hi-Vis back tonight unless they heard more from her, which meant that Sevyrn really needed to get down to the breeding center before they closed for the night... and it was already getting well in to the afternoon. They would be allowed to stay in the room if they were already there, but after a certain point the place wouldn't be letting new breedings in for the night. The trio were on a mission, and it had to get done now. Figuring she would have a harder time with this if the lady was already in the wagon when Sevyrn tried to load Spacemonster, she started first with the male - who put up a fight anyways. Eventually Sevyrn was finally able to get the boy in to it, and it was time to load up the lady.

It was hard to take those cute little boops seriously - she knew that he was yelling at her in upset, but all she heard was the gentle, excited, happy noise of an orbaru. They were so small and friendly and incapable of being a threat that even Space's anger couldn't phase him. This leg of the trip would be over soon enough - but it would only take longer for him to be freed if he tried to force Sevyrn to delay. She didn't fall for it, as much as she hated knowing that any of her pets was upset with her for any reason. Hi-Vis seemed much more content than the male did, but his indignation was slowly working her up as well. It was... not a very pleasant trek to the breeding center, and Sevyrn found herself incredibly thankful that it wouldn't take more than a few minutes. The sooner that boy could be out of the cage and able to get away from the girl for a bit the better - as much as she wanted them to get along, she wasn't going to be able to force it to happen. All that would do was make babies even less likely to happen.

Finally - they reached the breeding center. As soon as Sevyrn opened the little gate on the back of her hooded wagon, Spacemonster bolted straight out and looked up at her.... That expression was betrayal - she knew it well enough on the human face to see it in that boy's eyes as well. "I'm sorry," she said to him as Hi-Vis bolted out after he did, running around to check out even more new surroundings - it was exciting! So many new things in one day! It made her anxious - she didn't know what was going on or what would happen next - but there were so many new sights and smells and a weird, creepy looking boy that seemed happier skulking in the corner than playing with her. That on it's own seemed to hold Vis's attention - what was wrong with him? Why didn't he want to play with her? All she wanted to do was run around or cuddle up with someone and maybe they should have stayed back in the last area they had been with all the other orbaru who had seemed so excited to see a new face! Her attitude was starkly opposite from Spacemonster's... Maybe this wasn't as good of a pair as she thought.

Sevyrn was old news to the attendant of the breeding center by now - she'd been here twice before with orbaru, once with her first lotine, and then again just recently with a newly-acquired pachee and a borrowed mate for him. With every visit she became more and more confident in what she was doing, and she became more and more chatty with the lady behind the desk. Maybe it was best that someone like this was her first integration back in to the world - Sevyrn didn't have it in her to be mean to someone who was working to assist her. She could chat and be pleasant - no one would pry in to her life, or push her buttons. The trio ended up pretty lucky - there was one room left for the day, and that was the last one until tomorrow. It was a really good thing that they left the kennel when they did... who knew - maybe in just five minutes someone else would be showing up and getting the news that there were no more availabilities today instead of that happening to her just because Spacemonster wanted to be a dink and not be ready to travel with her.

Hi-Vis ran around the room investigating everything while Sevyrn sat in one of the waiting room chairs and filled out the obligatory paperwork - it was becoming easy to her at this point, no more confusion. Space, however, hid beneath the chair in which his girl sat, looking grumbly. The attendant seemed to notice that and made a remark towards Sevyrn about her hermit of an orbaru, to which Sevyrn could only laugh. What had happened to this this boy that made him so disgruntled all the time? Was he still upset about being having to shack up with a stranger for a few minutes and go somewhere new? If only she could read his mind - it would be interesting to know what exactly bothered him so much... both about Vis, and back at home with the rest of the troupe.
After finishing up the paperwork Sevyrn brought it to the counter and handed it back to the lady manning it. She would only have to wait a few minutes for it to be processed, and then she was being called to walk down the familiar hallways. Well... only time would tell if Spacemonster would ever come around to his new lady friend.

"Thank you," Sevyrn said to the attendant as she was guided to one of the doors, incredibly gracious to have been on time to even be able to bring these guys in. With a passing 'no problem' and a 'let me know when you guys are ready to leave', Sevyrn was left to her lonesome. Monster didn't want to move from beneath her feet but Vis looked like she was ready to burst down the hallway - okay... it was definitely time to get inside the room now. Sevyrn opened the door to the breeding room and ushered Monster in to it, giving him a gentle tap to the bum when he didn't seem to want to move. "You too," she said to the female orbaru, whose gaze met the woman's when she spoke. The girl immediately dashed straight through the open door - she had to have known that her not-quite buddy was already inside and not-waiting for her. Once everyone was safe and sound inside the room, they were ready to go. Sevyrn followed suit and closed the door behind her. While the orbaru took in their new surroundings - or at least Vis did - Sevyrn settled her backpack on to the table.

Now they had time to relax. Hopefully enough time for Monster to get comfortable with the strange female orbaru to want to breed with her - it seemed like there was going to be no problem on Hi-Vis's end given her enthusiastic nature... but perhaps Sevyrn shouldn't make assumptions about how willing she was going to be. For all Sev knew the tables would turn as Spacemonster became more open and interested in what was going on, and it would be the female that shunned him out once he was no longer secluded and interesting. Oh well - they would find out at some point. For now it was time to just get comfy and prepared for what could be a long day. Sevyrn dug through her bag, pulling various different things out of it - her sketchbook of course, she never went anywhere without it, some snacks for herself, some freshly picked blueberries for the orbs and a bowl to put them in to... and then there it was - that little fruit that Sevyrn had been looking for. Hi-Vis seemed to still be a little too interested in everything that was going on though, and giving her the treat could wait a few more minutes.
