Light pollution was a hell of a thing - out here on this hill, far from the outskirts of the city, the stars shone brighter and in higher numbers than Sevyrn had ever seen before. She felt in awe, desperately hoping to return here again some day - or perhaps venture even farther out from the busy city center. Maybe she should suck it up and get her friends back, go on a camping trip - or maybe a solo trip would be good for her heart. Abandon the world beyond herself for a few days and set up in the woods, bring Bez and maybe someone else... just her, nature and probably a couple of her sketchbooks. A night spent under a sky like this would be a night well spent no matter how much or little was accomplished, and not every day could be about being productive.
"When is it supposed to begin?" Sevyrn asked as she leaned in towards the researcher, elbows against the table and arms crossed at the wrist.

The researcher smiled to her in return, leaning against the folding table in the same manner that Sevyrn was - they were face to face, an excited smile on both of their lips. "Any time now - we should see the comets starting to fall very soon. You'll want to be ready, and it might be a little hectic at first... everyone will be rushing to make sure that they're where they want to be - and I want you to stay right here, or closer to the telescope. That might be better, actually - we wouldn't want to miss anything."
"It's exciting to get to be part of such a big night," Sevyrn said to the woman in return, admitting how pleased she was to be here. "I've never seen comets before, let alone from such a great vantage point. I've never even seen stars shine so bright, honestly. I need to wander a bit from the city a little more often."

"It really is beautiful, isn't it? The constant light pollution from the city makes it hard to admire the true beauty of the night sky sometimes, I can't even imagine how bad it might be in bigger cities - this one is rather small relative to some, and yet the difference within the town and fifteen minutes out is so drastic it's hard to believe. You'll love it, I promise - just don't get too distracted." The woman winked and then laughed, Sevyrn obviously was not the first person in the world to have never seen the starlight shine so bright before.
And then, right as Sevyrn was about to get a few more words out, the conversation came to an abrupt end - the researcher got a tap on the shoulder from a fellow scientist who had just seen the first of the comets fall. The scramble to get working began, and Sevyrn was pulled in with it.

"Come on, come on!" The woman beside her joined the scattering of scientists to their individual workspaces, and Sevyrn clambered out of her chair rather clumsily given her generally agile and in control of her body. There was just a lot of excitement here - not just with all of the scientists, but with her as well. It was as she reached her full height that she watched a bright streak of light flash across the sky, freezing her on the spot in utter awe. The researcher was already at her telescope, though she was yet to speak up. Sevyrn struggled to break herself out of the amazement, but she knew she had to - she was needed now.
"Okay, okay - I'm ready," she rushed to say as she reached the scientist's side, holding the notebook open to an empty page in one hand and the pencil in her dominant one. They only had a couple hours left now.

The the first moment of silence, Sevyrn wanted to ask the researcher more about the things that she was saying - the woman wondered deeply what certain things meant and the logic behind why it was important. She was abruptly silenced with an apologetic look - "I can't answer questions right now, but feel free to ask once everything is over." Right... these people had a mission to be on and it was Sevyrn's job to make it easier for them rather than distract them from what they had came here to do. Sevyrn was gracious that this woman was willing to teach her a bit about the science behind what they were recording after they had finished up, though.
This was how it would be for the next couple hours - Sevyrn watching the meteor shower in awe, always focused enough on the woman beside her to immediately pay attention when she spoke up. Though the researcher had been rather quiet before, now she was speaking up, not wanting anything to be missed. Sevyrn quickly had one page filled out with various information, and then more followed as the shower continued.
