The comet was supposed to show up, according to the Astronomer's Association, sometime around ten o'clock. It was already nine whenever Renathan noticed that they were getting a goodly amount of people meandering around the stand. A few people took pictures of theirself eating a donut underneath the parasols that he had painted (glowing constellations against a nightsky background). Some folks were tasting the new coffee, which Renathan just knew was going to be a very weird choice. He'd never tasted anything like it, himself, so he wasn't surprised when there was a variety of reactions. Some folks took a sip and made a face. Some took a cautious sip, and then seemed to find that it was their new favorite thing. There were a ton of reactions inbetween.
Some folks had also began taking pictures of Lazare, who was laying on his back as if he was waiting to see the comet. He was really just being lazy.

Renathan was always surprised at people's ability to humanize the actions of an animal. He'd worked with animals for so long that he was starting to understand that their motivations, while sometimes similar to that of people, were not usually that of people. Still, it was cute that people had found a seven foot tall battle orbaru cute enough to upload to their... Uh, whatever those things were (he'd seen that kid at the Catseye plenty of times working on what he assumed was a prototype of these things, so probably it was that) and of course it was funny to see one or two of them show him the captions that they decided to put under it (must were puns).
Renathan finally goes for a coffee himself- but he chose a nice spice that came from his homeland instead. He missed that place sometimes... Sometimes more than others. He'd kinda refused to leave his house or his job for a while.
A lot... Had happened since he got here.

Renathan was not able to mope for long, because a group of people gasped around him, and Geri pointed up to the sky- "Look!" She called. Anyone who wasn't looking up immediately began looking up as, if out of the velveteen fabric of the sky, the comet began to show. It happened relatively quickly, fading out of the ethereal realm and into view. Renathan glanced up over his coffee cup (Mira had worked so hard painting little comets on them that glowed in the dark) and saw the real deal in the sky. His breathing stopped for a moment as his heart skipped a beat. It was beautiful!
His bright pink eyes were practically glittering as he watched over the beautiful sight. Even Lazare seemed to be curious, noting perhaps that others around him were looking at something, and maybe it was a toy? His starry eyes caught sight of it, and of course he wasn't really sure what it was, other than a pretty picture.

Quite a ruckus was going on down at the tent across the way, that the Astronomer's Association was using as a blackroom. Renathan was fearful at first for them, distracted from the pretty sight to perhaps do something (probably magical) to protect them- when he realized that they were Wooping in Excitement. There was no danger. He immediately relaxed, and returned his gaze to the sky a bit wistfully. He was always so on edge... At least he would be meeting his next pair of apprentices in about a month. He'd miss Geri and Mira, just like he missed the two that had come before them, but he was proud to be able to teach.
Renathan moved away from the crowds and over towards Lazare to feed him another fruit that he had found, and to pat him on the head. He may be a big vicious battle orbaru now, but he was Renathan's big scary battle orbaru.

Time went by pretty quickly after that. The night wore on. Some people came in later, most people left after the first hour or two of the comet being visible. Most of the people that left early were people with kids (it was, after all, a school night for those that used the normal school systems here). Geri and Mira looked really tired after hour four, so Renathan began getting things packed up. They sold only three coffees during that time, and most of the people were gone. Geri and Mira left, and Renathan was going to take all of the items back to the shop. He still had several hours before he needed to be back home for Auburn, so he stopped by the Astronomer's Tent to check out with them before he took the supplies back to the shop, with Lazare following.
The two got back home way before Renathan needed to in order to make sure that Auburn would be alright.
