He had been working with these pups a lot in the past and this one was newer to his kennels, seeing as he wanted to bring in some new blood. He just hoped he wasn’t going to be traumatizing it by having it be who Lucio was trying to focus on while he learned how to be intimidating. Oh well. Hindsight was 20/20 and all that. So Kadin try to explain what he needed Lucio to do mentally first since. He figured that would probably be easiest. He told Lucio that he needed to concentrate on being scary. He was already, which made him plenty scary already to most small creatures, but he needed to have this sort of intimidating aura about him in order to properly intimidate his opponents.
The houluh was a little bit nervous about the Drake that was with the human. But since the human was supposed to be controlling it, it should be fine? What was kind of funny about this whole situation was the mining familiar. When it saw the houluh, it seemed very grumpy.
Now it's time to go searching again. Kunzite went around all over the place up and down the caverns. There was something itching at the back of its mind something that it didn't quite know how to really consider. There was a thrumming deep and low in the swirling depth of a chest. It knew that there was something out there and it wanted it to find it. It just needed to keep searching first.

Kadin figured that Lucio might have a little bit of trouble with this, so he tried to draw on some different examples he had so that Lucio could have a proper idea about what he needed to project. He had Lucio think about different intimidating creatures that he’d interacted with before. For example, tainted equillion, thundergugs, and other creatures that are naturally intimidating. He also advised him to think about when he was training to learn how to ignore those intimidating creatures and how that whole point of that was to not be afraid of different creatures with that sort of intimidating aura that he would now be trying to project.
But it kept coming and going all the while human was working with the drake. The puppy was a little bit afraid of the Drake, and it didn't really want to be close to it, but it figured that it would be fine. The human wouldn’t let anything bad happen to it because it was a good puppy! As long as it stayed near the human it would be fine!
It wasn't quite sure what it was just yet but it was determined to find out. They're at the entrance of the mind so it hadn't had much hope in finding anything useful. But this thrumming couldn't be ignored. It went further and further into the mines searching high and low until eventually it came across it. It was a crystal throwing with energy glowing with light. This is what it hadn't found before.

Lucio thought about it for a bit and seem to absorb the information that Kadin was giving him. Then he turned to the houluh that was supposed to be part of this training and tilted his head at it. I didn’t really want to hurt the houluh but at the same time he understood the necessity of the training that they were going to do. Especially if he wanted to be safe and in the upcoming battles. So Lucio tried to look intimidating. He held himself a bit differently sort of puffing out his chest and standing up big and strong, and you know.
Man the houluh did not like the look of whatever the drake was trying to do. Maybe it was just a nervous puppy in general, but it kept looking at it like that and… The drake really was getting a little bit scary. It seemed like the human was saying something to it and the Drake was looking at the houluh a little bit funny after that.
Kunzite swept around the crystal jealously. It was protective of it because it was valuable. Even it knew that. Even if it held every single gem and every single crystal that it found in the same regard this one would still rise above the rest. It's swept it up and headed back to the cavern the human was in quickly wanting to make sure that he would keep it safe. Even if he was annoying right now because he wouldn't go further in the mines, Kunzite still knew it would keep the gem safe.

He was trying to look scary. Kadin watched while Lucio tried to do this, and he wasn’t very impressed at first, but he thought Lucio was on the right track, so he encouraged him to keep looking more and more intimidating. He also gave Lucio her some pointers whenever Lucio seem to be struggling. It was much easier to do this when he could directly speak to the drake, he reflected. Lucio told the human that he was going to continue to try harder. He needed to get this down so he'd continue to practice.
It didn't really want to deal with all of this if only wanted to play fetch or maybe get fed a little bit and go out on a walk. This is not it’s idea of a good time! The familiar was mostly ignoring them since it was so determined to go find gyms. So only the houluh was getting the brunt of the drake’s attention!
Kunzite made its way back over to the human. It figured that the human would be able to keep the crystal safe until there is a better place to keep it for good. It wandered over to where the human was a watched it with a flat expression as it continued to work on training. It really wasn't the best place for training and Kunzite would stand by that. With a human was going to take care of the crystal, so it would have to accept it, but it would prefer not to.

The houluh meanwhile was looking at them like they were a bit crazy. Kadin thought that it was a bit nervous that there was a drake right there but at the same time it wasn’t as intimidating as it could be. Lucio still needed to work on projected the correct aura before they could call this training over. After all, from the houluh’s perspective, the drake was in communication with Kadin and Kadin was safe. Kadin would make sure that nothing happened to it. So the houluh decided to just sort of relax and lay down and not worry too much about what was happening.
Yeah. The drake was getting scarier and scarier the human and seemed to be telling the drake to do something, and it was focusing on both the houluh and the familiar a lot more than the puppy was really comfortable with. Maybe ignoring it would be the best option? It laid down and tried to look like it wasn’t interested, but really it was worried about getting too much attention...
Kunzite carefully placed the crystal where the human was keeping all the others. It stared at it for a little while just not wanting to leave it just yet since it is only just found it. But it had learned the hard way that it was easier to keep things with the human so that it wasn't slow down if it ever came across other familiars. I didn't want to get into the position of having to fight over a gems like this with other familiars.

Little did Kadin know that it was just trying to act unafraid when it was actually close to being terrified out of its mind. Kadin followed up with Lucio and tried to give him a few more tips. He told him that spreading his wings to look bigger could be intimidating. He also talked about how he needed to channel a naturally aggressive aura, too, so he advised him to think about when hatchlings were trying to steal his food. Or bite his wings. Or just generally annoy him, really, and the ways he’d tell them to back off.
The puppy was left with the attention full of tension of the drake. It didn't really like having the attention of the Drake. It didn't want it to keep looking at it like that. It didn’t know what Kadin was saying to it but it didn’t like it! It tired to keep ignoring it but as time went on it just kept getting harder!
Kunzite left the gem with the human and it went off to go look for other crystals. It swept the caverns back and forth a little bit more hopeful now that it had found that there are actually things around. And hope that it would actually be able to find more crystals or more gems are really anything about you. I was very much looking forward to being able to bring more back to the human and show off why was important to go deeper into the mines.

Only he needed to be able to do that all of the time. He also spoke to him about when he had to deal with other drakes trying to take away his food or bother his favorite hens. How would he conduct himself when those other sarane weren’t taking any hints that they should back off? He just needed to project that sort of feeling or action. Lucio decided that this advice was much more useful than any of the other advice he’d been given so far. He turned back to focus on the houluh and the familiar (whenever the latter was nearby).
It didn’t like how it was looking at it and was it growling? It didn’t like that. It didn't like this at all. It was kind of scary down here to start with and it wanted Kadin to take it away and let it go somewhere else to play with others of its kind. The human was still sure to give the puppy a lot of treats and belly rubs at least and he seemed to be trying to take care of the puppy and comforted.
Kunzite eventually sensed another gem. It wasn't a magical crystal like before but it was a gem. Kunzite crept towards it trying to find out where it was looking into the rocks around the rocks and sweeping them out of its way as it searched. I could feel something nearby but it wasn't quite sure what it was until it came across something green gleaming in the darkness. There was the gem it was looking for.

He puffed out his chest a little bit, raised his wings slightly to give him the impression of having more mass, and tried to imagine the small dog trying to steal some of his food. A growl actually rambled in his chest as he considered all of these things that he definitely did not want to happen. Kadin watched and contemplated how Lucio was doing. He could definitely see something different about how he was holding himself with that last advice. He thought that he was doing pretty well and making some improvements with that short amount of advice, he was definitely doing better than he had been a few moments ago.
The houluh whined and tried to hide its face. The human was holding it in his arms now. Not looking at the houluh didn't really work though because the drake was still very scary. The houluh whined some more and tried to stay with the human and ignore the presence of the drake even though it seemed like it was getting more scary.
This one didn't give off the same magic properties as the last thing it had found but it didn't mind. Kunzite was just here to find gems of any type whether they were crystals and magical or not. It just wanted to find more and more gems and that was why it wanted to go deeper in the mines by the way. So it swept up this gem next and brought it back over to where the human was keeping the gems safe.

So Kadin tossed him some treats just as extra encouragement and continue to encourage him mentally as well. The houluh also seem to be finally taking real notice of them. Not just noticing that the drake was there and scary by default because he was a sarane, but properly intimidating. He was with Kadin, but what the puppy was focused on was the drake and what sort of threat it might post to him. He didn’t even want to look at the drake.
The houluh did not appreciate this and they wanted to be somewhere else somewhere warm and safe. Was the human trying to get drake to be more scary? It seemed like that might be the case. It wasn't very pleased about this and it's still wanted to get away from here. It didn't like the scary drake didn't like that the human brought it here. The human was giving it treats for being here so that was nice at least.
There's still more for it to find. It knew that there was more out there now even though it was hard to find initially in knew would still be able to find more than it initially thought since they are so shallow in the mines. Kunzite crept along the walls and turned over more loose rocks to search for the next gem that it knew it would be able to find on here. It was slow going but it was sure that it would be able to find more. At least it was more optimistic now.

But at the same time he couldn’t take his eyes off him as if he were afraid of what would happen if he did. He didn’t like the look in the drake’s eyes. The houluh backed away a little bit, whining a little and looked over to Kadin for what to do. He even went so far as to duck behind Kadin’s legs, only peaking out to see what was happening to try and figure out if it needed to run soon. Kadin continue to encourage the drake to be more intimidating. He wanted Lucio to continue practicing until he really perfected that aura of intimidation that he was going for. He needed Lucio to be able to reliably intimidate the houluh and maybe even Kunzite to get this intimidation down.
Nothing really changed the fact that drake was very scary. The houluh was more and more uncomfortable with this. It was determined to go someplace else where it wasn't so scary. The drake was focusing more and more on it seeming to try to keep it scared and it didn't like it. It whined at the human trying to request to go somewhere else.
There was another gem. This one was gold and it could sense it. It swept over to the gem where it could see it among the rocks and it gathered it up in its shadows. It was pleased with itself, happy that it had found another gem despite everything that was against it down here. It could keep finding more, too, it knew it.

Lucio continued to work on it for a while more to see what would work and what didn’t. He found that if he really thought about the houluh trying to take his things like food or hens then it would make him a lot more angry in the houluh seem to be able to sense that anger. Once he saw that anger seem to be intimidating the houluh he worked on being able to channel it according to Kadin‘s advice. Kadin continued to give pointers and advice as Lucio worked on this and giving him treats whenever he seemed to be doing a good job.
This was awful! The human seemed to keep talking to the drake and directing it to do more and more and it was just more and more scary! The houluh eventually gave up and just hid it head to wait until it was all over. It didn’t want to be here anymore at all! This wasn’t even about it anymore, it felt like, the human was just doing random things with the drake!!!
It could feel more. Now that it was paying more attention, it could sense things everywhere. It wasn’t just a few gems and a few crystals, even, it could sense ore and other valuables hidden from it. It moved around in the mines, shifting around more rocks and more useless items to finally find more valuables. Those it brought back to the human in an ever increasing hoard. The next thing it brought was some ore.

They continued working on this until Kadin and Lucio were both satisfied that the houluh was really creeped out, and it seemed that the intimidation was working. Just in case they brought some other houluh and other pets in just to see if Lucio‘s natural intimidation was working or not and they kept working on it until they were once again satisfied that Lucio could properly intimidate different opponents when given the right motivation. All he really had to do was imagine them stealing his food, and they all seem pretty creeped out by the look in his eye once he was imagining that. And so Lucio was finally able to cultivate an intimidating enough aura.
It seemed like the human was finally wrapping things up. They're giving plenty of attention to the houluh and plenty of attention to the drake. Something that is drake done must have been good because the human was very pleased about that. The houluh was just happy that look like they would be leaving soon. It helped that they would be able to play with other puppies soon.
The ore went well with the other things it had brought back and it was eager to look for more. It swept away, completely ignoring the human and drake (mostly out of self preservation, it was giving the drake and its murderous aura a wider and wider berth as it was going back and forth) and kept looking for more gems. As long as it focused on that nothing else would bother it overly much.

Now that the training was largely over, Kadin figured that he should devote some time to comforting his (probably) traumatized houluh. He pat Lucio on the side and sent him off to relax and explore a little while he held the houluh and gave it some much needed love and attention. Yeah. It wasn't too happy with him right now.
The houluh kept whining and complaining about all sorts of things, making Kadin wince with all of the loud noise it was making. It still didn't like the drake, which was very fair, considering how intimidating Lucio had to be in order to properly complete his training. But Kadin did his best to comfort the traumatized houluh, offering it treats and such to calm down.
All the while Lucio looked on, a bit curious about that was happening. He didn't quite understand what sort of trauma a young houluh could go through just by having to be near a scary sarane for a while. After all, young sarane grew up in a constant environment with scary other creatures who just happened to be their parents. They all turned out fine, right?
Kunzite, meanwhile, was disinterested in all of this nonsense that was happening. So the drake was a bit terrifying, it just kept doing what it was always doing. Looking for gems! You wouldn't believe how easy it was for all of these stupid drakes and houluh and humans to be distracted when important work was left to be done in the mines.
