Kadin didn't really know how he'd gotten to this section of the labs, but what he did see was a bulletin board, what was probably a scientist, and a whole lot of people all gathered around. There was some sort of speech happening. He couldn't really hear over the sound of the crowd, but he could see by the look on the scientist's face that she seemed a bit nervous and probably needed an awful lot of help if this many people showed him. Sighing, he looked around, eventually eyeing the flyers on the bulletin for a bit before taking one down. Something something about a comet? Looking at stars? There was a picture of a star, at least, so he couldn't be too far off. With a shrug, he looked down at the houluh he was supposed to be walking. They could do something like this real quick and get back to their walk, right? 1

"Um. Hello." Kadin had made his way over to what looked like a researcher, at least, clutching a flyer in one hand and holding the leash to a puppy in the other. "I heard that you guys need some help with some research you're doing? I can help move equipment around, anything you need." He offered. The scientist type person eyed him over, clearly wondering if he or the puppy were going to be an issue for their very important research. But, with a smile, they seemed to accept his help readily enough.
"Sure. Just made sure your little friend doesn't get underfoot. Good idea to leash her! Here, I've got a list of things we need, but really it's just that big pile over there! We need to move all of that up on top of the tallest hill over there, you can't miss it! It's very important to get enough hight to properly see celestial bodies."

She kept babbling away like that for a bit, Kadin being careful to nod along, information still clutched in his hand. Very carefully, he moved the flyer into his pocket since it was just going to be in the way anyway. He was eager to get started, probably, but it didn't seem like he'd be able to do much of anything until she finished explaining... uh. Whatever it was she was trying to explain that he really didn't need to know. Eventually she seemed to noticed that he wasn't actually doing any work. After that, she noticed that she was still talking.
"Oops! Silly me!" She laughed, patting him on the shoulder and ignoring when he flinched. "You can go get started right away. The pile is that way," she pointed at the pile of equipment that she'd already told him about, "and the hill is that way!" There! Great! Information he could use!

He quickly thanked her and started off towards the equipment. Lux followed at his side, but seemed to keep getting distracted by things, pulling at the leash here and there. Kadin really wished he had a different creature with him here, one that knew how to follow him better, but he'd just been walking Lux when he found this notice board so it seemed he was out of luck. And once he got to the equipment pile, he felt that he was even more out of luck.
"Ok. I can't really carry all of this while hauling you around. A lot of it requires two hands." He thought out loud, looking down at Lux with a frown and then his least. With a shrug, he looped the leash around his waist and clipped it off. There. Two hands free. Now he'd be able to carry stuff and he'd only have to worry about tripping over Lux.

The houluh didn't really seem to get what was happening, but this all seemed like fun! It sniffed at the pile of stuff that its human was interested it, even tried to nibble on a few things, but Kadin took them away... that made it sad. But then Kadin started picking stuff up and walking around with it. With a tug of its leash, Lux suddenly realized that it was going to go along with Kadin, too! Ok! It happily trotted around the boy, watching as he carried a big case of... something. There was probably something in that big case but it couldn't see what it might be! All it knew was that they were walking now and walking was fun, so it was happy to be walking along to wherever they were going. Kadin seemed really concentrated on carrying this stuff around. It must be important stuff if it needed to be carried around like that.

The scientist said that the stuff needed to be on the tallest hill and she'd given him a direction... but there were a lot of hills in the direction she'd pointed. With a sigh, he looked around at the different hills in the area. Some of them were pretty high, but also covered in trees. It seemed to him that if they were trying to look at something in the sky, they'd need a hill that's view wasn't blocked. Humming a bit to himself, he noticed there was a tall hill that looked like it had a bit of a clearing on it. He could even see some people moving around there, too. So he figured he'd give that one a shot. Kadin carried his load and led his puppy over to that hill, easily adjusting to the strain of walking uphill. When carrying stuff, it was almost better than walking downhill.

Once he made it to the top, Kadin looked around to see if there were any scientist types to tell him where to put this stuff. There were a lot of people here, many of them looked just as lost as he did, but eventually he saw someone in a lab coat and figured that was a safe bet. "Hey." He said, walking over to them with his load held up high. "Where do you need this? I'm helping bring stuff over."
The scientist eyed him up and down, perhaps wondering what his qualifications were for lugging stupid shit around. Kadin resisted rolling his eyes. Eventually, the other man nodded to himself and said, "Oh! Bring it over there with the other things. And be careful! You're carrying delicate equipment in there, young man, and we're using it to look into the vastness of space! There are many calculations to be done tonight!"

Kadin did the approximation of a shrug, lifting the box up and down a little bit, the best he could do while he was. You know. Carrying a box. "Whatever you say, sir."
He carried his burden over to where the man had pointed, putting it down next to a bunch of stuff. There were telescopes, foldable desks, blinds and binders full of data, and basically anything else you could figure would be a scientist's wet dream. Kadin was careful putting the box down, just in case that made was watching him, then stood up and straightened out his back, stretching his arms high above his head.
"Alright," He said to no one in particular. "Time for another load?" He said to his houluh this time. The pup, seeing it had his attention, yipped back. Smiling, he took that as a yes and went to go make another trip back to the pile.

He took his time going back, figuring there was no real rush until it was properly dark out. He figured that they'd all be here for a while. He didn't know what time the comet or whatever was going to come out, but it seemed to him that stuff in the sky was usually best seen at night. Kadin made his way back past where the bulletin had been posted, noting that the women he'd originally spoken to wasn't there anymore. He shrugged off his curiosity and grabbed the next box, hefting it up. This was was actually lighter than the last one he'd carried, but larger. Since he had the puppy around his waist, he didn't want to try and carry too much. It would be pretty awful if he dropped anything and it fell on his poor houluh. So he just too the box as is, with no additional boxes.

The trip seemed quicker this time, probably because he actually knew where he was going now. The uphill was more awkward with the bigger box, but once he made it up there the man who, as it turns out, seemed to be directing most of the volunteers just waved him over to around the same area he'd put the last box. Kadin didn't bother to nod, just going where he was directed and putting the box down with a sigh. His pup yipped at his feet, running around all the equipment in its excited, nosing at everything. Kadin rolled his eyes and gently stepped away so no one would put up a fuss about his puppy getting too excitable.
"Well done, my boy! If you keep this up, we may be ahead of schedule!" Kadin startled a bit, spinning around to see one of the scientists right behind him, checking something off on a clipboard.

Their glasses gleamed when they looked at him. He almost startled again when he realized that they were expecting him to say something back.
"Oh, uh. You're welcome. I'm just doing my best to help out?" He didn't know why he ended that like a question. Lux yipping again and wiggling around his legs, getting him a bit tangled in the leash. The scientist watched all this with an amused expression on their face, waving off his words with a flick of the wrist.
"Nonsense! We greatly appreciate all that you volunteers are doing tonight! But please, don't let me hold you up! You have good work to do!" With that, the scientist spun around with a flourish and went off to go 'encourage' the next volunteer. Probably.
Kadin shook his head. He crouched down to pet Lux and whisper for only the houluh to hear, "These people are kinda crazy."

"But I guess we are, too, being here and all." With a sigh, Kadin stood back up. "Better go get the next load. Come on, pup." With that, he lead the way back down the hill, Lux trailing behind him, getting distracted by every leaf in the wind and every blade of grass under his feet. Kadin laughed about it a bit as he made his way back to the pile of materials to be carried up the hill.
This time, he selected a couple of smaller boxes, carrying one under each arm. After the big box of last time, he wanted to actually be able to see where he was going. He carried the boxes up the hill, a clear view all around him. There was a slight breeze that helped with all this walking back and forth. He wasn't getting tired just yet, but this was still a lot of picking stuff up and putting it down again.

He eventually made his way back up the hill, houluh in tow. He noticed that some people were unpacking the other boxes he'd already brought up and starting to assemble the equipment. Turns out that the bigger box was 90% packing material, probably to keep the big, delicate looking frame of something that they were carefully pulling out of it. It sort of looked like glass, but it had felt too light to be glass while he was carrying it. Luckily his job wasn't knowing these things. He brought the next boxes over and set them down on the opposite side from where the current boxes were being unpacked. It would probably only be a few more trips until he was done. He was sort of looking forward to seeing what all of this was for, if they'd let him stick around to see. He might have to ask that first scientist he'd met.

He didn't stick around too long to watch them unpack before turning to go get the next load. There were only about three or four trips to do and then he was done, depending on how much stuff he carried at once. None of the scientists were paying him much mind anymore, which was fine with him. He was just happy to concentrate on what he was doing and not worry too much about what everyone else was doing. He and Lux went back down the hill and over to the pile of boxes. There was one more big one, a couple medium sized once, and another pair of small ones. He grabbed the small ones again since he could carry more in one trip, made him feel more productive. And he headed back up the hill, pup and boxes in tow. "Not much more of this." He reassured. "Just a few more trips."

Again, they didn't really notice him coming back up. He put down his boxes and headed back down. Everyone had their own jobs and looked busy enough doing them, he wasn't going to bother anyone with questions he didn't even have. Kadin went down and grabbed one of the medium boxes next. Lux kept running around him and tangling his legs, so he had to keep spinning around to untangle himself while he was walking back to the hill. It was slow going, but they were making good time. That other scientist had said they were ahead of schedule, anyway, so he wasn't worried about running behind. He brought the next box up and put it with the others before turning around to get another. Just two trips left if no one came to help. And since no one had yet, he figuring this was probably a job given to him alone.
