A new breeding partner for Houluh? Heck yes! It had been a little bit of time since she had seen Sevyrn, not too much, but she still missed her new friend already. Arvest was next to her splashing in a puddle, which she sighed at and wiped him down a little, that was what she got for teaching a Houluh to fish, she figured. Whatever, this would be fine, he would clean up a little after awhile, and at least his tan and white points were being shown off. He was lovely, similar to his father but not exactly. Jack grinned a bit as she wandered to the Breeding Center and saw it in the distance. What would they talk about this time, she wondered? It wasn't like it really mattered all that much, they could talk about pretty much anything it seemed. Jack cracked a smile, maybe she was getting desperate for companionship, it... wouldn't surprise her.

It was an easy enough plan - Sevyrn and Jack had talked about potentially breeding some houlou pups the first time that they had ever came to the center together, and after meeting Jack's patronne Arvest, she had utterly fallen in love. She had been there with Sweetie and her matronne had seemed to like him behind the scenes, so why not ask about him, right? The worst that Jack could do was say no.
Luckily that hadn't been the case at all, and they had made plans to meet up after getting a good night's rest. She had shown up first with Sweetie in tow, always early to everything if she had the option to be. She had been in the middle of doodling her houlou trio when she looked up and caught sight of Jack approaching with a houlou at her side.
Well... Sweetie noticed first - it was her playful bark that had drawn Sevyrn's attention away from her sketchbook. The woman smiled wide for a moment, then forced herself to seem just a little bit less excited as she closed the book and walked to greet the other woman. "Hey! I was stsrting to think that you weren't going to show up."

Arvest paused for a moment when he heard a bark and he barked in response, happily bouncing around when he saw the Matronne. Jack chuckled a little, "Go on." He shot off toward the other Houluh and the woman waved happily to the woman as she got closer, "Hey there, I wouldn't have missed it for the world!" There wasn't much she could do right now aside from shove her hands into her pockets as she got closer to the woman and smiled a little bit more.
There wasn't much for her to do right now was there? She felt a little... odd, like she was just tagging along for the moment. Sure, she might be, but she didn't know if she should feel like this or not, and her smile faltered a little as she glanced down at her feet. This was the worst, she hated being lonely, but she did her best to hide it. "Sorry you and Sweetie didn't win the Salonne, maybe next time!" she said happily, beaming at her friend.

"Hey - we did pretty good, we beat you guys by a whole half a point," Sevyrn ribbed. She was actually pretty surprised that she hadn't gotten last place given that she had gone with the 'know lots of basics' route rather than anything more interesting. As far as she was concerned, Arvest's ability to fish showed off more smarts for complicated tasks than being able to follow a series of easy tasks. Sevyrn hoped that Jack wouldn't think that she was somehow rubbing it in her face - neither of them had scored amazingly, but seeing that her patronne had learned how to fish had actually motivated her to teach one of her own pups to as well. There was so much to tell Jack - how well the little girl she had gotten from their last breeding was doing, that she now had her second adult, which of the pups she'd brought home from the houlou adoption agency.
"Come on, let's go in," Sevyrn said as she moved to grab the door and pull it open. She then called for her matronne to get going, who looked at her human rather dejected. Her buddy was here, why did Sev want her attention now of all times?

The woman laughed a little, "Half a point up from dead last, I guess that's not bad." She winked at Sevyrn before entering the Breeding Center and calling for Arvest. Her Patronne shot after her and wiggled around her before charging back at the female again and then back once more. He was full of it today, it would seem, he just wanted to play, all that pent up energy from the contest must be trying to work out or something.
Either way, Jack was pleased with how he was acting, though he was still listening to her as well. At least she had something to show for all that training... "How've you been other than the contest? How about that female you got from the Pachee pair?" Jack asked with a smile on her face as she walked over to the counter and started filling out some information on the paperwork.

"She's doing amazing, I have her back at home with her dad and she seems to be pretty happy there." Sevyrn had loved how both of Button's babies had turned out, but she was thrilled that the female had ended up with her mom's wings... after seeing the babies, she'd even offered to renege on her need to take home the female, didn't want Jack to feel like she had been somehow slighted, but they always seemed to get along and both girls seemed to be pretty relaxed in terms of who took home who.
Maybe, just maybe, it was because new life in general was amazing and they were glad to be a part of it. Sevyrn couldn't speak for Jack's logic behind it, of course, but she figured that the other woman seemed to be of a similar mind frame.
"Oh, and I did end up going down and picking out a houlou pup." As Jack filled out the paperwork, Sevyrn pulled out a picture of a rather adorable little spotted pup. "Jupiter - I think her name card at the agency said that she was the daughter of your 'All for Nothing'?"
Sweetie didn't know what was more interesting - seeing Arvest for a second time, or seeing this place for the first time. She sniffed at the male's flank and the bounded so that she could lick his face, and then off she was to check out an obviously super interesting planted fern.

"That's great! I'm always happy to hear they're doing well at home," Jack said sincerely as she moved the paperwork over to the attendant again after filling everything out. She pushed a hand through her hair with a smile and went to go sit down, gesturing for Sevyrn to take a seat as well. It seemed there were several breedings going on, they were low on the list but not at the bottom.
Oh she adopted a pup! That was great news, and it was even better that she had adopted one related to her Kennel, but who wasn't at this point. "Ah, one of Heathen's pups then?" she said and then looked at the picture and her heart melted, "Oh I'd thought about adopting that one after awhile since they'd been at the Agency for so long, but I'm happy they're with you! I have a sister, Goldie, she has these cool stripes that some Houluh get."

"If you have one of her sisters, we should get the two together sometime," Sevyrn blurted out as soon as she sat down, not realizing until afterwards that she had just become the first one to suggest a non breeding related interaction between the two women. That was okay, right? Sev was definitely growing more comfortable with Jack and Quinn had been right when she had tried to knock it through Sev's head that she would be a happier person if she just went out and had at least a couple friends that she did things with.
"Hey Sweetie, catch!" Sevyrn said to her houlou, grabbing the matronne's attention just in time to pull a ball out. The houlou's tail started just wagging away, and Sevyrn very gently tossed the ball the couple foot distance between her and the houlou. Once Sweetie had caught the ball she very nearly pranced over to the patronne and put it down at his feet before barking at him. Play time?

Perking up, Jack nodded, "Yeah, it would be fun to get puppies together instead of adults at some point too. People never seem to do that for some reason, it might be nice and I think you'd love Goldie, she definitely lives up to her name." Grinning, she leaned back in her chair and watched as Sweetie caught a ball and trotted over to Arvest, it was nice to see them getting along, because Arvest went down on his front legs and barked happily before racing off, wondering if she would chase him with the ball to a spot where it wasn't so crowded. This was fun, he liked meeting with her again, only this time one on one and not with other Houluh around.
The competition had gone well, they had only been half of a point away from each other, but that was fine at the moment, eventually Arvest might win one, Jack figured, and Sweetie almost had to.

Sweetie took chase, ambling after the patronne after she had picked the ball back up. Well he had rejected it... so now Sweetie didn't want to let it go! She would definitely tease him with it, though - she dropped it on the ground in front of the male, prepared to snatch it back up the moment that he tried to grab it if he did at all. Sevyrn had to smile at the pair - at least they got along.
"Jupi is pretty adorable too, and she's got quite the character," Sevyrn said. She glanced between the houlou and the front desk, waiting somehow patiently for the moment that they would be called for their room. Maybe they could hold off in Jupiter and Goldie - at least get this pair's babies together, maybe train them in similar specialties... Sweetie had no specialty of her own, she was Sevyrn's first attempt at raising a houlou. One day she would give the matronne some more training - maybe the kind that would help her excel in the same kind of salonne she had just gone through.

Arvest turned and snatched at the ball before running away again, not realizing for a moment that he hadn't gotten it in his haste. He would figure it out eventually, but for now he was just having fun at the moment!
The attendant motioned for them to follow her and Jack stood up, "Looks like we're up." She gave Sevyrn a smile and offered a hand to help her up before turning and following to see which room they were going to get. Calling Arvest to her, she smiled a little and wondered what was going to happen for awhile. It was going to be great, they would have some lovely pups no matter what, and she smiled a little as she thought about it. Eventually all of her Houluh were slotted to win Salonnes, at least she hoped they were going to, she liked the win and all that for the moment. She chewed on her lip a little, she had bitten off more than she could chew.

Sev made a point to hold the door for everyone, Jack and both houlou included, before she followed along at the back of the little group. Sweetie was torn between staying at her master's side and snuggling up to Arvest, always a friendly little thing - she liked her new buddy, and he had fallen for her trick! The matronne was still holding on to that ball like her life depended on it.
"I heard there's going to be a strength trial next?" Sevyrn mused out loud - Jack would probably know more about the different salonnes. "Have you even been in one?" As they reached the room Sev dipped forward amongst the little gang to grab the door, and she offered Jack first entry with a welcoming gesture. From the doorway Sweetie poked her head in, checking out her new surroundings before she dared to venture in to the room. This place didn't look so bad!

Chuckling a little, she dipped inside the room and sat down as Arvest pranced around for a moment, figuring out where he was for the moment. This place was entirely new for him, even though he had been born here. He most likely didn't remember it, and he barked at the woman for a moment with a tilt of his head. This was strange, he didn't know why they were there, and it was a little confusing. Honestly he did like his new friend, however, and that was good enough for him. Barking, he chased after the Matronne finally, ready to get the ball she had with her.
"No, I haven't been in one of those yet. Luna's my only Maestre so far, and she's semi-retired from breeding. I have a fidelity token I want to use to give her another breeding and then breed her with one of my Patronne here in a few months," she admitted with a little wince.

Did... did Jack think that she needed to be embarrassed about her breeding habits? She was sitting next to someone just as bad about being down here as she was! It was a good thing that Sevyrn found animal husbandry to be a very important part of caring for the creatures that she was responsible and that she didn't have a full time job, otherwise she might not have had time to care for everyone like she was supposed to.
"I was thinking of training my patronne a bit more to suit the theme, I just don't know what all to teach him," Sevyrn said, revealing that she was planning on being in the mext salonne as well. "I'm probably going to get a token of fidelity too, but I think I'd use it to get a new puppy... neither of my grown houlou are very limited in their breeding potential, I don't think." She wasn't actually positive about Spot, actually...
Sweetie finally dropped the ball and let out a little bark at her buddy, her front end getting low to the ground while her rear raised up, tail wagging a mile a minute. This place wasn't that interesting, she wanted to play!
