He was... bigger than the rest, and a little clumsy, but he was dear to her and that was all that mattered, she figured as she walked to the Breeding Center with Light at her side. He was a sweetheart who didn't know a ton just yet, but that was fine at the same time. She was looking forward to seeing Nadia again, but she didn't know what she was up against with a Houluh this time. Something about that guy she had helped resurrect, she figured with a frown. Whatever, this would be fine. Jack pushed a hand through her hair and then leaned up against the Breeding Center's wall when they reached there finally. It wasn't going to go badly, but Celestial genetics were always an issue, they didn't really have genetics she could tell so far, but that was fine at the same time. Whatever, this would go well, she knew with a little chuckle.

Another match for Mabel, and another round of excitement. Nadia enjoyed her trips to the breeding centre very much, because it was guaranteed to end with something delightful - another bundle of joy for her to care for. There was plenty of pep in her step as she made her way to the building with Mabel alongside her. The houluh was easygoing, and trotted quietly, her nose twitching. She'd been to the place once before, so knew the route, and had no particular anxieties. Her signature red bows were looking extra darling that day, Nadia thought. Hopefully, their patronne match would think so too. There'd been no problems with that sort of thing yet. "Jack, hello!" She greeted the other woman warmly when she caught sight of her, and beamed at the houluh with her. "Ah, Light! Hello again, fellow! How do you both fare today?" Very chipper, by her standards. [2]

Oh, that was great! She seemed to be pretty excited about being around her for now, she figured with a little smile on her face. "Heya! We're fine, how about you?" she asked, putting a hand on Light's head. The big Houluh woofed loudly and wagged his tail when he saw Nadia and the Matronne. He didn't want to go close to them because he was so big and unwieldy. This wasn't like he was scared of hurting himself, he was scared of hurting them. Jack tilted her head toward Light and wondered what was going to happen between them, "He's pretty happy to see you two, he knows why we're here of course, but he's still scared to hurt anyone else."
Light's tail thumped against the ground as he listened to her explain, he was so excited to be with her, and she knew it as well, considering what they talked about sometimes.

Nadia was very endeared by Light. It was always the biggest creatures that seemed to be so gentle and affectionate. She stepped forwards to give him a head pat of her own, if he would allow it. "Oh, don't fret, dear heart. This Mabel can keep up with anyone, I promise," She said to him with a smile. "You needn't worry your lovely head. What a pleasure it is to see you again." Whether Mabel agreed with that statement or not was impossible to tell. She was more interested in sniffing around Jack and staring at the woman, waiting for pets. She was looking all pretty for this, so she expected some attention! It was perfectly fair. "We are well," The woman said, though the dark circles beneath her eyes and her nervous fidgeting might suggest otherwise. "Shall we go in? I imagine our room will be ready very soon." [4]

Light woofed lightly and licked at her fingers when they drew away, pleased with the affection. She knew it was a good thing, she figured with a smile at the big Houluh, she wasn't sure what was going to happen to him, but at least he was affectionate to everyone. Usually he didn't have an issue, he just stumbled over hit paws a lot. Turning his head, he woofed at Mabel and then pawed lightly at the bows on her ears, where had they come from? He hadn't seen any like that...
"Yeah, after you!" Jack said, opening the door for her friend, though she looked a little concerned for her, "I like Mabel's ribbons, did you get them for her? And... are you sure you're alright? You look a little run down, is there anything I can do for you?" She frowned a little at the thought, she didn't like her friends to be run down or worn out.

Mabel didn't see a lot of patronnes. Gelert was the only fully-grown one at home, and he wasn't interested in anyone other than himself! Having attention from a boy again was very nice. She didn't quite know what to do with herself, so she settled for a playful woof in response, and a little lick on the nose. "Thank you," Nadia said as she ducked into the centre, waiting for her houluh to tail her before she went over to the desk. "Ah, it is nothing so terrible. I find myself having difficulties sleeping, that is all. No doubt Boo keeps me up half of the night..." Not that Jack would know about the no-shell Inkrum, who was actually a sound sleeper. Any excuse to chase away the thought that something worse could be amiss. "Our dear Obsidion bought them for her! She was wearing them when he returned her to me..." [6]

"I made a brew that can help you sleep if you'd like to try it sometime," Jack offered, entering into the building after her friend, Light coming in at the rear. She ruffled his fur a little with a smile on her face and let him run off to play. However, as much as he tried to chase after the Matronne at the moment, he stumbled over his paws and fell flat on his face. Poor Light was embarrassed and covered his face for now, peering over his paw at the Matronne to see if she was laughing at him.
Ah, so it was him! That was... super cute actually, and she tilted her head a little at her friend, "He returned her? Don't tell me he stole her in the first place..." She trailed off a little with a frown as she tried to think of him stealing something from Nadia. Since he had taken things from her to give to the other woman, however, she figured there was something else in the works.

Mabel would never do such a thing as make a mockery of an unfortunate houluh! ... At least, not to his face. Sympathetic, she padded over him to give him a nudge of encouragement. It was okay! No one was looking, and he wasn’t hurt, so everything was fine. “Really? Well, I... I might be inclined to give that a go, thank you,” Nadia said, grateful for the mere offer. She had her own private concerns about using sleeping aids - she didn’t want to get addicted to them - but was not going to refuse help when it was coming from a good friend. “How much can I pay you?” Ah, the story of how Mabel came back. Quite a song and dance, she thought. It was almost embarrassing. However, the thought of her housemate’s kindness filled her with warmth. “I adopted Mabel from the agency, and due to my... illness... I was unable to complete her training in time and had to return her. It broke my heart. Obsidion was kind enough to take over and bring her home again for me.” [8]

Light woofed lightly and licked at the Matronne, pleased that she hadn't made fun of him. At least not to his face. That was all that mattered, he figured, he knew they made fun of him behind his back and he was alright with that, he could be a little oblivious to all of that. He stumbled to his feet and barked before running off down the hallway, stumbling every now and then but doing his best.
"Oh no, no charge, I'm happy to help. I have nightmares most nights and it helps me sleep without them when I need it," she told Nadia with a gentle smile, and then she listened to the story of Mabel. Her eyes widened a little, "He returned something to you? Wow, he must really like you, he's never actually given me anything, I have to pay him to go get stuff for me sometimes..." That was interesting, and she appraised her friend for a moment.

Nadia listened along to Jack as she accepted the paperwork from the receptionist. It was a breeze to fill in the stuff now she'd done it so many times; it didn't vary too much from the documents needed for pachee, other than being more detailed. She offered Jack's set of papers to her as she went. "I would be very appreciative, thank you," She said with a smile. The talk about Obsidion made her blush somewhat - she wasn't sure what to do with that information. "I... I hadn't considered that. He is a very gracious man when he finds it in himself to be... he cooked me dinner that night, too. It was lovely." Mabel thought this patronne was very interesting! She'd never seen any houluh walk with those stumbles before. It was endearing! Her tail wagged as she bounded after him, wondering where they would be off to this time. [10]

Jack took the paperwork with a nod and started to fill out her portion before handing it back over to the receptionist. She wasn't sure she should be doing this anymore, she had so many puppies as it was.... but there wasn't anything she could do about it at the moment, she was already committed and it wasn't like this was really a bad thing as long as she could take care of them all, she figured. Pushing her hair back, she grinned at her friend, "From what I know of him, and it's not a lot, he's trying to impress you." She didn't mention the blush she clearly saw, however, she didn't want to poke at her too much.
Light looked back and beamed at her before plopping down into a sit and wagging his tail a little. He barked and nuzzled at the female a little, she was really nice and he figured this would go well, right? That is, if she liked him too.

Nadia slipped the papers back over to the receptionist, and tried to swallow the lump rising in her throat. It was a scary prospect, that a man enjoyed her company and was seeking her approval. This kind of thing would never have happened to her without parental influence and chaperones, in the past. Now, here she was, with an eligible bachelor not only spending time with her, but living in her house. It was scandalous. She had to start speedwalking to their given breeding room to distract herself from the embarrassment. "He really needn't bother with such things. I am happy to host him," Her words glossed over the other implications. "He needed help, and I supplied it." Mabel nuzzled Light back. Gosh, this was nice. Just relaxing with a patronne that wasn't pretentious! As her human opened the door, she cocked her head in the direction of the room - were they going in? [12]

Giving a little chuckle, she followed her friend and wondered what was going to happen to her. She knew that her past life had been a little less... liberal than the Labs, so she was probably having a few issues getting things figured out. "Hey if you ever need a third person, let me know yeah?" Jack said with a smile, offering to be with them if she didn't want to be alone with the man. She wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, but that was fine as well, she would try and make it to where she wasn't uncomfortable in her own house.
A deep woof occurred and he trotted into the room, glancing over his shoulder to see if Mabel was going to follow him. He knew that things were working out between them, and while he was a little embarrassed as to why they were there, it was alright in the end he knew.

Nadia very much appreciated Jack's kindness. She had found it difficult sometimes, without the input and reliability of a female friend; finding one was a blessing. Men were all very well and good, but she liked to have the company of her own gender. It was a matter of understanding. She liked to be around someone who could relate. "Of course. Thank you, Jack," She said, and took a seat on one of the provided chairs. They were always comfier than she expected. She supposed some breedings took a great deal of time and required some waiting, and a sore bottom would help no one. "How are things with you, anyway? Please do not let me dominate this discussion with my woes." Mabel remembered the last time she had been to this place. She'd come away with puppies... was she to be a mother again? The excitement of it had her barking and running! [14]
