Slowly but surely he eventually had them lead the painter back over to the post. Once they were successfully there, that was when he gave everyone some affection and treats. He was sure to especially give Levtr some praise since he had to deal with all of this shit from the pups and hadn't kicked them even once! And after that Kadin continued to do this a few more times to get the pups used to the command words that you wanted them to have for herding thing and also get them used to bringing something over to a certain place. He was giving the pups more slack on the leash as time went on so that they could learn how to lead the way themselves and in the end show that they knew what he was asking them to do. But he kept them on leashes until he was confident they wouldn't run off and run wild and really upset Levtr more than their antics already had. No matter how much he trusted this painter, he didn't want to push his limits just for training. He really didn't want to risk anyone getting kicked in the head. After several more tries of repeatedly walking them through it while on a leash, he decided that they were largely following his commands while on the leash and listening to what you wanted them to do so he decided it would be okay to let them off the leash and to try and have them still herd Levtr correctly.

So he let them off the leash, finally. He led them through what he wanted them to do to, which was herd Levtr back to the post from where he was a good distance away. He continued the same thing he was doing before by walking behind them, but they were able to run much further ahead of his time so Kadin had to make quicker commands to keep them on track. Since it was their first time off the leash like this, the pups did keep making mistakes however and seemed like they weren't completely sure what they were doing. But after several iterations of the same command they started to seem to get it back on track. Kadin would go in and correct them whenever they made a mistake to refocus their energy on herding the painted. They seemed to be going after Levtr with much more enthusiasm now that they were free and it was making him a bit angry, he was even stomping his foot in warning at them. Kadin needed to redirect them to get them to take the same approach that they had when they were on leash. Before anything bad happened Kadin got them back on track. He got them back on leash and then he ran through what he had been doing before a couple more times with the leash just with more slack this time so that he could reiterate the commands that he wanted them to do. That helped them remember what they were supposed to be doing when they had gotten too excited before.

He learned them through it a few more times, too, so that Levtr wouldn't get so worked up and upset about them trying to crowd him and potentially hurt him. Like it was mentioned before, he was a very tolerant painted, but even painters had their limits when it comes to crazy puppies biting at their ankles. So Kadin led them through it on the leash a couple more times until he felt like he had refreshed their memories about the commands that they were supposed to be following. Once he was more confident about them he decided to try to out the commands off leash again, but carefully monitoring them. This time is definitely more successful than the last. They still make mistakes but they were better than before and they were actually able to get the painter over to the correct post location this time, even if it took a while. It was a messy and sloppy attempt and not exactly what he was looking for but it was definitely better than what happened before. Once that first sloppy attempt was done, he put the puppies back on a leash and let Levtr loose again so that he could find a new place to start off for their next attempt. And they could repeat the process again. He let the pups loose again and once again led them through trying to herd his Levtr to the post. Kadin had a feeling that they'd be practicing this a lot before he was finally satisfied.

Each time that they practiced they seem to be getting better at better this. They were more quick to follow his commands and seem to be getting more of it than they had when he had to lead them through it each time with the leash. They got more and more out of it with each practice. Kadin practiced with them several more times just getting the pups to herd Levtr to the designated area. He moved where the post was a couple times just so they could get used to bringing the painter over to other target locations so that they would have more practice following his commands rather than mindlessly going to one spot over and over again. He didn't want them to get stuck in just bring it to one area every single time. They continued to practice well into the evening, Kadin eventually decided to brign out some obsticles fo rthem to herd around, too. He continued to have them practice until he was satisfied that they were following his commands every time and could successfully herd the painter to whatever target he lead them to. It was good timing, too, because he felt that they were getting a bit bored of this, especially poor Levtr who had been lead through all of these different commands this wold time, not getting enough time to get any proper grazing in before he was led off to another spot. Kadin was happy to call it quits once he felt they had it down.

Kadin never could sit still for long, especially when there were houluh pups out there still to train. Today he'd come out with Jude, and excitable houluh that he was sure was meant for great things in the future. After all, he was one of Miles' pup and Kadin know that Miles was something special. Today he was out here with Jude to mostly just explore the gardens and maybe get a little training done at the same time. It wouldn't be a good idea to do too much, after all, Jude was still young and had a long way to go before he'd be ready for anything really challenging. But Kadin had a feeling he'd be able to help him with at least one thing - tracking cats. You see, word was some mosca had escaped from one of the local markets and Kadin had a feeling that he just might be able to track one.

That is, if Jude didn't end up being more of a hindrance than a help. In order to keep that from happening, he was sure to put the pup on a leash first, just in case he got any bright ideas about running off on his own without Kadin about to call him back at all. And that was how they set out, human and houluh, off to see if they could find anything in the gardens that would add to Kadin's growing hoard of pets. He wasn't really holding out too much hope that they'd find anything, especially not too quickly, but it wouldn't hurt to just scope out the area first and see what they could see before getting more into it and really upping the search in the name of more cats. Because that was all Kadin needed in his life. More cats. Apparently. Rochelle would have a field day.

Regardless of Rochelle's opinion, Kadin still figured that it wasn't a bad idea to go searching. And what better to stir up a cat than a dog? So here he was, with a dog, looking for a cat. Wandering around the garden. Maybe he should have thought about this a little further before just coming out here with no real plan as to what he was going to do, but thinking things through had never really been Kadin's style, anyway. He tended to just go into things and hope for the best once he was there, not worrying too much about how he would accomplish a task, simply knowing that he would do it to the best of his ability and that was as far as thinking it through went. Just look at all the sarane he wrestled, after all. Did that indicate someone with a plan in their head? Nope.

Instead, it indicated someone who acted rather than thinking, which would explain a lot of the sticky situations he tended to get himself in. Such as this one. Right now he was just walking through the gardens with a dog on a leash as if that in and of itself would be enough to find a cat and get it to come out of hiding so that he could, what? Tame it? Own it? Convince it that he didn't want to loose the dog on it? Then again, if it was a mosca it could probably kick his houluh's ass, so he probably should worry too much about that. Maybe he should be worrying more about making said cat upset and getting what he houluh probably deserved just by being a houluh. But he was here, so. It's not like a mosca would try anything as long as he was here.

Right? Maybe. We were going to go with that for now, if for no other reason than it was a good idea to hold out hope that good things were coming rather than hoping that he and his houluh would get their asses kicked by some random mosca. Anyway. He should probably be training Jude while going about this whole searching for a mosca business, but to be completely honest, he wasn't feeling it at this time. So instead he focused on just wandering around the gardens and maybe looking for some berries that he could rustle up while he was here. He could always use more pachee and he did like using garden items to get more of them, so he was always on the lookout for those. Plus his plant creatures could always benefit from more healthy growth, whether from other plants or from other sources like the soil or sun.

But perhaps more than any of that he liked to keep an eye out for the creatures that liked to hide out here in the gardens, looking for anything that he might want to befriend later or keep around as a pet. He might be looking for a mosca specifically right now, but he had quite the collection of garden pets in general and had no intention to say no to another one if it happened to come around while he was searching. You could even said it was efficient, in its own way, that he was searching for so many things while he was out here in the gardens with his houluh. He might even keep an eye out for other stuff that he wasn't searching for at all. Hopefully all of that would come together to make it easier for him to find the things he was searching for.

Walking along with a houluh, Kadin didn't really expect anything to just come across him like this. Typically creatures tried to stay away from humans, for one, and from tames pets, for another. Unless they were distracted or running from something. Well, this one certainly seemed distracted by something! Kadin carefully pulled Jude back so that the houluh wouldn't run up to the creature at all. He watched it quietly for a bit before deciding that he might as well try to make friends, what's the worst that could happen?
"Hey, don't freak out..." He suggested, wincing a bit when he said something that was practically guarenteed to make it freak out. "That's a pretty impressive collection you have there. Do you need any help carrying it to somewhere?" He was pretty sure the creature wouldn't be able to understand what he was saying, but he also figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway.

The koguma hears you - and does not, in fact, freak out. At least, not in a way you might expect. The pomegranate it's holding drops to the ground in its surprise and rolls towards you, stopping at your feet. It stares at you, frozen in its tracks, like you might forget it if it stays still enough...

Well, that didn't go as expected. Although, come to think of it, if asked, Kadin couldn't say what he'd been expecting to begin with. Fight or flight did have a lesser known cousin called Freeze and it seemed that was the instinct this particular creature was going to go with for now. Before it could break out of that state and go for either of the others, Kadin bent down and picked up the pomegranate. He crouched down in order to try and seem less intimidating and held out the pomegranate towards the koguma, speaking calmly to it in a way he hoped would help. "Hey, it's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. See? Do you want this back? It looks like you're working hard to gather all of those."
The houluh looked between him and the other creature, baffled by what was happening, and probably a bit peeved that it wasn't able to eat the floor trash that Kadin had picked up.
