Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

For once, I walked away victorious, but it felt empty and uninspiring. My opponent had not even bothered to show up, so I was declared the winner by default. I wondered why for a while, but decided in the end to be happy that I could walk away with a prize for very little effort on my part. Nonetheless, I really wanted to feel what it was like to actually win instead of just being given pity points for showing up when my opponent couldn't be bothered to.
This was supposed to be the last round. It was my final chance to get a win, to really earn one. Given the record so far, it seemed unlikely. I led Igor out into the pit and he was surprisingly energetic. Perhaps he knew that it was the last fight of the tournament, or maybe he was just on a high note from getting to leave without being knocked out last time. Whatever it was, I hoped he could carry that enthusiasm through the rest of the day. It was nice to see him excited about something.

The result of the last round had been unexpected. Not the loss, Nerius had known the murp had little chance after seeing their foe was a mosca, but that Shale had actually died. He knew that was always a risk of this sort of thing, but it was frowned upon to kill someone's pet, and he'd never actually seen it happen in a tournament. Shale was alright now, he'd been revived, and privately Nerius had to admit it was absolutely fascinating. Most people probably would have been more concerned about their pet, but Shale was fine, really!
Well, mostly. It had taken him a little longer to recover than usual, and he'd been a bit out of sorts, even more ornery than usual. This was the last round, and there wasn't anything that would be a problem in a fight, so he'd brought Shale to the last round. Their opponents were here already, and a ghaenelt, though not one of the magical breeds, was already in the pit when Shale was released. And, was that owner a ssashirk? Those were definitely draconian features.
[Ready!]

Our last opponent was a sturdy, fluffy beast. It looked very solid and tough, though it didn't have sharp fangs or claws to attack with. I assumed it would try to trample Igor, which was unfortunate as he had to get close in order to bite it. Then again, this might be the perfect situation for Igor's spikes to finally come in handy. The fluffy creature might be reluctant to kick him for fear of being impaled. Whatever the case, it was time to get started.
"Igor, bite!" I called out. Igor knew what that meant, and it looked like he was already one step ahead of me. He must be used to it by now, the response to being in the arena was becoming automatic. He crouched down and tried to find an opening where he could bite the large creature without being caught by its horns or hooves. He lunged forward and we both hoped for the best.
[Igor uses bite.]

The ghaenelt seemed unusually energetic, but Nerius' experience with the species was limited to the stagnant breed, which were, particularly in their younger stage, very lethargic. That also meant he had no idea how quick the spiny critter would be, or if it would be able to outmaneuver the murp. It had to be less spry than a mosca, at the very least. Shale was also eyeing the creature, his body language getting more an more irritable as the ghaenelt moved around.
The murp looked to be getting ready to charge the creature, but Nerius instead commanded him, "Buck." Those spikes were concerning, there was no getting around them, but better the murp's legs made contact with them than his face. Shale didn't look happy about not being instructed to charge the ghaenelt, but obeyed, lashing out with his hooves whenever the spiny creature got too close while it searched for an opening. Calculations
Igor uses Bite! Igor's Dexterity of 4 + 2 rolled by staff = 6 vs. the 3 Dexterity of Shale Igor will deal the most damage possible! Igor's Strength of 5 + 3 damage of Bite = 8 damage 8 - 3 Resistance of Shale = 5 Shale's Stamina is now 8
Shale uses Buck! Staff rolled a 1, Shale misses his attack!

Shale tried, the grumpy murp struck out with his hooves whenever the ghaenelt drew close, but the hits never connected. It wasn't the first time the murp failed to his his foe, but this time it wasn't that the ghaenelt appeared to be skilled at dodging, but that his aim was just off. Or maybe he didn't want to get too close? It was possible his temporary death had shaken the murp more than Nerius had thought, he wasn't bonded enough with Shale to tell much about his moods.
The ghaenelt had somewhat better luck, and its jaws managed to snap down on the murp's foreleg. It wasn't enough to be crippling, but Nerius could see the murp bleeding from the stands. "Buck," he instructed the murp, hoping he'd have better luck landing a hit this time. It might not have really been necessary either, Shale hadn't yet stopped kicking from when he'd been given the command before, as the ghaenelt's bite had only served to make him mad.
[Shale uses buck]
