In order to compete in the Show Ring, reply to this post to put on your show! Include your pets' image and stats in your first post, as well as any items they're wearing, will be used in your performance, or the pet was groomed with. - At the bottom of your first post, please note which participation prize pet you would like! -
The show ring or arena can look however you like, and it's safe to assume staff could procure some extra embellishments if needed for your performance, or special accommodations for critters that require it. Use any of your pets' many abilities to show off for points and votes from the crowd! Pets may use moves that they don't know on command in the show ring; there's ways to prompt that untrained COD to breathe fire, right?
At the bottom of your show ring posts, please make note of what abilities, moves, and tricks were displayed, and if they are used on command or not! Otherwise they will not count towards your score.

It was now time for the second of the twinned contests - the Vai Min Mur show. Xentus.. Wasn't sure what this holiday was about really. Something about honoring the dead and spirits. The foreshadowing fate of all who come to tread upon the earth. It was.. A rather morbid idea when he thought about it. But apparently the people of the city celebrated this holiday with a festival of costumes and candy. It was a confusing ordeal for a foreigner like himself. So he didn't fully understand the premise of this contest. But what did that matter if he was going to have fun with it anyway? For the custom of costumes, Xentus brought with him a creature in costume. The young kair bumbled about awkwardly in its disguise. Adorning its head was a jackal mask, and strung on its arms and tail was some toilet paper in a feeble attempt to look like bandages.

It.. Couldn't see very well. Or at all, really. The oversized mask was covering its eye-gem.. Rex's claw-fingers gripped the leopard's hand tightly as he led it to the show stage. Under the spotlights, the clashing colors of its mask and body really stood out. Its fur and feathers, freshly groomed, were glossy - especially its fluffy mane. But wasn't it cute? The small statured kair nearly tumbling over its own big feet added to the display. Which didn't bode well but the leopard's idea of showcasing the avian as some kind of mummified warlock. No matter!
"Greetings! Xentus brings before you all today a truly terrifying sight!", Xentus announced, letting go of the kair's claw for a moment to gesture to the crowd.
And Rex fell over.
The mask had fallen off.
"One moment", he murmured, using his body to block the sight of the unmasked kair. With a quick adjustment to the bandages and the mask fitted on as snugly as it could, the leopard proudly displayed his toddler.

Ah, it also needed its book. Seemed like the strange novelty he got as a reward from the Bukukippas finally came in handy for something. It was nothing more than a fanciful notebook, but it didn't really suit his tastes. A plain leather backed notebook was much better - didn't leave that oily residue murk behind. The book was flipped to a page with some odd archaic runes and scrawling and given to the kair to hold. Its finger-claws grabbed at just about anything, so he figured he'd put that quality to work.
"Behold, the lich-necromancer-god of death, Rex!", Xentus announced to the crowd. He chuckled to himself. What a silly idea. But well, he liked it. It seemed thematically appropriate too - what better to enhance the thrill of a holiday honoring spirits and the dead than the guise of a spellcaster-deity who raised the dead? And was dead too on top of that!

The young kair was unsteady walking on two legs, gripping onto the leopard's silk pants to help keep itself steady. A grin plastered itself on the mammalian's lips. He couldn't take this seriously. But he was having fun, no matter what the contest might've sought to yearn from their performance. He walked with the kair around the stage so that all in the crowd got to see the zombie-commanding tiny terror. The kair waved the book around haphazardly, swirling the oozing mist from its pages into the air. If one had a creative enough imagination, it might even look like the avian was casting some kind of spell.
With little else to show the crowd, Xentus guided the kair around one more lap about the stage before returning to center. "It wasn't much, but this one thanks you all for witnessing Rex!", the mammalian called out as he bowed. And with that, he supposed there was nothing left to do but make an exit.

The time had come for the second show. Haix had begun to pick up the theme of this one from the soft-skins that had also entered, and was glad to have chosen Juggler for it. Bones seemed to be what this one was about, whether the painted skeletons that several creatures sported, to a show of literal bones. One of the beasts was nearly an exact twin of the dead false hatchling at her side, only the difference in colors marking them apart, confirming him as a safer pick. Of the few who did not have visible bones, she thought she recognized the beastkin insulter, and refused to do the same for the furred braggart from the freak show portion.
She watched the braggart more to ignore the insulter than out of any interest in the tiny shape stumbling next to it, watching as the tiny masked beast fell, it’s face revealed for only a moment as the owner moved in front of it and placed it back on.
Juggler, who had been watching the performance with a great deal more interest than Haix had until a few seconds ago, was nearly yanked off of his feet as Haix turned her back to the stage, the noose around his neck dragging him along with her. A second attempt to watch the show, his head twisting back as to not miss the tiny thing waddling around the stage, was met with a tug that might have strangled him had he any throat.
He looked up at the one holding his rope, then to the fist that held the rope. He satisfied himself with looking at the other contestants.
Then they were called, and Haix tore her gaze from some shadowy patch of wall to lead Juggler to perform for the soft-skins.
For all the red glow of his eyes might have suggested otherwise, there was not much for the skeleton to do. The noose of rope was loosened and pulled free above his head, and Haix repeated the announcer's previous introduction of "Juggler", jabbing an open hand at Juggler as she spoke of him. His jaws slipped open, then clicked shut as he looked around the room, both at the darkness behind the main lights at the front of the stage, and at the ignored props that lay hidden from the audience's sight. He took a step towards the darkness beyond the stage as Haix watched, then paused, lifting his hand as he made a clawing motion at the lights.
He looked up at her, the false hatchling tilting his head to one side in a silent question, then back to the darkness. His hands dropped down, and he began to rattle. Bone clicked against bone as he ran his tails against one another, as his ribs twitched and clacked, claws raised as he took another step towards the darkness. He was allowed to continue for a few more steps, then she slipped the noose back over his head as he reached the edge of the stage.
His rattling quieted as he reached up with one hand to feel the tightening rope, head twisting back to face her. A moment later, he dropped the hand from the rope, and allowed her to lead him from the stage. [Done. Male poison dart Orbaru please.]

Needless to say, the Belles were VERY unhappy to be here. Each head was snorting sparks, even though they were well restrained. Perhaps Morgan should have chosen an easier creature to control? When it was their turn, they wasted no time going out to the circle. "Greetings everybody!" Morgan managed out, holding the lead in their hands and hoping to high goodness that the Belles didn't spook. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, for them- Tainted Equillion were more aggressive than spooky. "These are Hell's b-Belles. They aren't quite trained y-yet, but some day, they will be." They weren't entirely sure what to show off, or how, but luckily Hell's Belles made the decision for them.
One of the heads jutted out and snorted a small shoot of fire into the air (luckily not hurting anything or anyone). Another of the heads opened her mouth and made a horrific screech. The third head turns forward, and after the other two are finished with their display, produces a snort of blue-green hellish flames. Well... That was oddly uncoordinated, but at least it looked cool! Just when Morgan was about to wrap things up the trio of equillion apparently conspired against the bespectacled human. With a paw at the ground, the creature was suddenly walking on the air, and threatening to take Morgan with them! The human tries not to look worried, and simply leans back, applying the extra pressure on the lead that would put pressure enough on the strong parts of the equillion's chest to keep it land-bound.
What wound up happening was the equillion did a neat spin in the air, walking on the wind as they did so, and then landed back on the ground. "Well, that's Hell's Belle's everybody!" They waved, and then got Hell's Belles out of the show ring. She snorts at them- all three heads. Goodness, that could have been a LOT worse than what it was.
[Hell's Belles shows off their Double-Headed nature, uses Breathe Fire, Screech, and Balefire not on command (but in stats), and then shows off that it can be a Wind Avatar not on command]

“Alright. Here we go,” Kadin said, mostly for his own benefit. The creature he was with today could hear his thoughts as they bounced around in his head. The thought of that still unnerved him. He probably wouldn’t even be wearing the damn ribbon that made it possible if the wiurn hadn’t insisted it was probably a good idea, anyway, considering what they were trying to do and how many other dangerous creatures would be in the arena today.
Because this was a contest.
This was Kadin’s first contest that wasn’t for houluh, actually, which wasn’t saying much. He’d only been in one other before. One that he ended up winning, somehow? Never mind that. Today they were here and it was just like the last contest he’d been in. He just needed to get Kimu to… show off.
They walked into the arena together, looking around the crowd. Hm. Best start with the basics. “Kimu.” Kadin said, nodding when the wiurn looked to him at the sound of his name. “Good.”

He approached the wiurn with a bridle next, holding it out and trying not to show his relief when the wiurn allowed him to put it on him. Next was a saddle. Kimu wasn’t as keen on this part of the plan and he let it be known by side stepping Kadin when he went to put it on him.
“No.” Kadin ordered firmly. Snorting and rolling his head in place of rolling his eyes, Kimu looked away and allowed Kadin to put the saddle on him, as insufferable as it was to be saddled. Once the tack was in place. Kadin figured now was the time to climb aboard.
The last thing he’d ridden was a sarane that had almost killed him. This… was going to be different, but not all the same.
Shaking off the thought and ignoring some shadows from the corner of his eyes that chose that moment to make their appearance, he climbed aboard the wiurn.

Kimu arched his neck and adjusted his stance, seeming to get used to the weight of a rider after so long of not doing this. You’d think that they’d have practiced this beforehand.
“Alright, Kimu. Go on.” Kadin instructed, nervous that he was doing something wrong or saying the wrong words, but pushing forward regardless. Kimu snorted and told him a few choice words, but he started moving forward regardless, awkwardly walking on the ground on his wings and legs as wirun were forced to do. He only tolerated a few steps of this before pointedly making a suggestion through the ribbon.
“Alright, alright, I hear you.” Kadin allowed. “Fly!” He commanded next, feeling a swoop in his stomach as Kimu suddenly started running forwards on his wings before launching himself into the air. Kadin easily directed the wiurn to turn in a wide circle, easily circling the arena as they flew overhead.

He ran Kimu through his paces in the air, directing him to fly faster, his circle widening slightly to accommodate the pace, before slowing again. He even had him cut across the center of the arena and turn the other way to fly in the opposite direction for a few turns. Deciding to get a bit fancy, they flew a couple of figure eights to demonstrate their control in the air. Once that was done, he directed Kimu to stop and hover in the air, right over the ground, before landing surprisingly gracefully for a creature so large. That had been their first time flying together, but Kadin was already hoping for a next time.
Kadin patted Kimu’s neck and dismounted. He tied the tack to itself so that it wouldn’t get in the way for the rest of the performance. They still had a few more simply things to demonstrate before getting into the more meaty part of what Kimu knew.

“Kimu, follow.” Kadin asked, walking slowly around the arena, but not too slowly. Sure, a wiurn on land was a bit awkward compared to a wiurn in the air, but sheer size meant that Kimu still moved surprisingly quickly. Those long limbs meant that he ate up the ground much faster than Kadin would.
Kadin only had Kimu follow him a little while before asking him to, “Stay” while Kadin kept walking. He walked to the other end of the arena, stopped, and turned around. “Come!” He called to the wiurn, watching with a slight smile as Kimu made his way easily over to the human.
This was nothing.
“Alright, Kimu, good job.” Kadin praised before asking him in a teasing tone of voice, “Now growl.” A low growl rumbled from the wiurn’s chest, echoing around the arena. It did not sound playful, despite being entirely innocent and entirely on command.

“What was that?” Kadin said. “I can’t hear you. How about a roar?” He suggested, grinning as Kimu leaned back and roared. If anyone hadn’t heard his growl? Surely they heard that one. There wouldn’t be anyone sleeping through Kimu’s performance, at least.
Next, Kadin asking Kimu to follow him again. He lead him towards the center of the arena and asked him to stay. Now it was time to start to show off some of the abilities and moves Kimu knew. Kadin had no intentions to harm any other creatures with what they were doing next, but they did still need some other creatures to play a part. Kadin had an equillion, one from his own kennels, lead it. It was a tainted, one with a naturally intimidating aura. It eyed the wiurn, snorting, nostrils flaring as it scented the air. It pawed the ground, clearly agitated by the presence of the wiurn.
[Roar] [Intimidation (naturally known, not trained)] [Repeat: follow, stay]

Kimu, on the other hand, seemed entirely unbothered by the presence of the equillion. He eyed it a bit, but then turned his attention away, completely ignoring it despite the naturally intimidating nature of the beasts. Even when brought closer, Kimu didn’t seem to care about the equillion at all, although the equillion definitely didn’t appreciate it at all. Kadin seemed satisfied with this, patting the wiurn’s side. “Good, Kimu.”
Now they could show off some other things. The equillion was lead away and Kadin grabbed some other tools. There were some balls laid out, soft but firm enough to throw. He’d also had some dummies spread across the way, easily distanced so that they could attach each one individually. Without warning he tossed one at the wiurn, but the creature deftly stepped out of the way, once more dismissive of the actions he was performing as if they weren’t special to him at all.

Kadin picked up another ball, holding this one up and bouncing it in his hand. There was one more thing he knew that would require these. This time, instead of tossing it at Kimu right away, he seemed to decide to give the wiurn a warning.
“Dodge!” Kadin called out, throwing the ball at him as Kimu bounced out of the way. “Good!” The human seemed pleased, although Kimu was still acting a bit bored, not having been asked anything particularly troublesome so far. Kadin figured that it was time to move on to something with a little more action. He next pointed to one of the dummies, directly Kimu’s attention to it.
“Bash!” Kadin called out, watching as the wiurn gathered himself up and charged towards the dummy, barreling over the thing with his body, successfully bashing it and effectively trampling it over the ground. “Good job!” He praised, directly Kimu to another dummy.
