Darky lets go of the rod, as the toy gets yanked away and Tharèus settled down to fling it beside him, only to chase after and bite down. "As you can see, the hunting instinct is still very much there. But that isn't to say he's fully borne of his chelcauda parentage." She extends the Push again to slowly roll the glass eye out from hiding and roll up to her along the floor, picking it up. "From the Baenarch he gets an affinity to fire, a flame burning within, not unlike the more skeletal Baenarch's that we all know, but unlike them his is still contained within the skin. A furnace deep within, with flames hot enough to melt. Observe."
"Tharèus!" When the pumequin lifts his head to the call, she flings the glass eye into the air, catching it with a Push and keeping it there, far too far out of reach from the half-breed. Tharéus paces and squirms, rumbling and making a sound between a knicker and chittering as the desperation to get to it grows. He rises to his back feet, head extended, but still it's too far above them. When he lands back down, there's a spit of smoke rising, him still pacing rapidly, until he finally stands back and extends the neck, a gout of flame escaping from between the jaws to tag the eyeball in the air.
Darky let's go of the Push and a semi-wet smack lands into the arena, as molten glass slowly goops its way on the floor. "Ah, sorry about that," she smiles sheepish, extending the Push to pick up the slagged remains as they harden and cool. "But this has been Tharèus, and I hope you have been entertained." One final bow, this time with the hand and a stage whispered "Down.." guiding the pumequin to do it in unison. Then, she collects the remains of the bat and guides the half-breed out, with what remains of the eye.

Silver took a deep breath. No matter how many times they did it, it always made them nervous to go out and face the crowd. This time around they had watched one strange monstrous creature after another and they had to admit they felt a little intimidated. Though that little bird guy was pretty cute. They couldn't help but wonder how the judges would perceive Nyx after seeing such a line up. Well, they knew that she was special and they were willing to give it a shot. "C'mon Nyx, it's time," they said softly. They led her out into the arena slowly as not to spook her. They knew that she could probably hear and smell how many other people were around. They didn't want to do anything to add to her stress. Nyx was a sweet creature, but she was also very shy. She didn't like that there was so much going on around her, but she knew she could trust Silver. They would make sure not to take advantage of her trust, and to get everything done as quickly and safely as possible. 1[112.55, 10.4] [Female Orbaru please!] [Silver is holding Sever bond.]

Privately, Nerius had his doubts about how well this would go. Entering an untrained creature that he had no way of communicating with was a poor idea to begun with, but his creature of choice was also a giant sea serpent. Undertow at least was familiar with him, so it could have been worse. It could have been better too, but there wasn't anything for him to do now but put on a show, and hope the pliathor cooperated. There had been a slight pause between the previous contestant and Nerius' turn, he was, as far as he'd seen, the only one with an aquatic creature, and there had needed to be a bit of an alteration to the stage. Parts of the floor had retracted, and from the center of the stage rose a massive tank. The lights had dimmed, and visibility into the murky tank was only a few feet, and beyond that was nothing but vague, moving shadows. It was a thematic choice, he could have had the tank clear and easy to see, but dim lighting and spooky, wiggly seaweed made for a better backdrop. There was a low spotlight on him and Nerius walked onto the stage, enough for him to be visible to the audience, but not so much to distract from the tank. [Male Poison Dart Orbaru please]

"Greetings!" Nerius addressed the audience with a flourish, keeping watch on the tank out of the corner of his eye. He'd passed close to the glass, and now, something was moving, though all that would be visible to the audience was dark, undulating shadows. "This time of year, many are wary of creatures that skulk in dark forests and abandoned graveyards, but how many remember the horrors that lurk in the depths?" It was a bit melodramatic, but he needed something to hype up the crowed until the pliathor made herself known. Undertow couldn't hear Nerius, but he was moving around right next to the tank, and that drew her interest enough to swim close to the glass, her massive, bone plated head, orange eyes, and sharp fangs suddenly appearing behind the glass. She stared out of the tank, mostly at Nerius, but the audience probably wouldn't be able to tell she wasn't looking at them. The pliathor circled the area, disappearing back into the darkness of the tank, flashes of her boney body visible, before her face would appear again, startlingly fast. [Undertow demonstrates Aquatic and Intimidation, passive, part of base stats]

So far, Undertow was cooperating, but now he needed her to show off some of her abilities. She wasn't trained, but Nerius did have an idea; food. What better way to get a pliathor to show off than to trigger those predatory instincts? She was too big for him to reasonably be able to hand feed, but fortunately, the stage had an assortment of pulley systems to assist in people's shows. He wondered if this was the first time someone had hung an entire dead shark from one, but that's what he had done. "Undertow," here Nerius gestured to the pliathor while her face was visible, "Is well equipped to hunt her prey, both below, and above! the surface." Here, he activated the pulley system, lowering the shark into view, letting it hang a few yards above the surface of the pool. It was fresh, but there was still enough to drip into the pool, and draw the pliathor's attention. The ripples started small, but quickly got larger and more violent, and after a few seconds the pliathor's head burst from the water, breathing out a mouthful of blueish white mist, before crashing back down into the water. Where the mist struck, the flesh visibly began to wither, shriveling and discoloring. [Undertow uses Breath of the Dead, not on command]

Nerius took advantage of the pause between major splashes to continue, "She can breathe death onto her prey," This was as far as he got before the pliathor moved again, though he managed to make the pause seem natural. Undertow surged out of the water again, and this time her jaws closed around the shark, pulling it with enough force to pull it from the hooks it was hung from. Where her teeth struck, it withered further, the shark's flesh cracking and splitting as the moisture was drawn from it. Good, Nerius had been hoping that would be visible, and he continued, "And drain their blood until it's an empty husk!" Or.. fish.. juice, he wasn't sure if it was called blood in sharks, but it sounded better. Undertow wasn't quite done with her prey just yet, and wrapped her coils around the shark, if it had still been alive, that would have helped keep it from escaping. Here though, it just made for a nice finale, as the pliathor sunk back down, gripping her prey, disappearing into the depths. There was one other thing she could have done that was appropriate to the contest, but short of injuring the pliathor, he had no how to trigger her life force manipulation. She'd still done a lot better than he'd dared hope for, and it was a good time to finish off their part. "That was Undertow, ladies and gentlemen," with that, Nerius gave a rather dramatic bow, before exiting the stage. [Undertow uses Arid Bite and Constrict, not on command] [Done!]

Well, this was probably the busiest contest Fiera had ever participated in. She was amazed at the vast variety of creatures on display here, and she wondered if Madison would stand out at all. And yet... she had the feeling she would. After all, she was a creature of vai min mur like everything else here!
She lifted the candy corn bat to the crowd, and gave her intro. “Behold, Madison the candy corn bat! Near winner of the last petite tournament! Despite her size, she’s a bloodthirsty beast!” She called out, noticeably quieting at the word “near” and knowing full well that she would always choose sugar over blood. Still, it didn’t hurt to play up her strong suits. “Madison, fly and screech!” She said, launching her bat up in the air. The creature spread her wings and let out an ear piercing shriek, causing much of the crowd to cover their ears. As she circled around, Fiera kept shooting out orders. “Now, wing buff!” She called, causing the bat to thoroughly ruin the hairdos of several rows of the crowd. “Echolocate!” She cried, and the bat effortlessly weaves through the gloom of the seasonally spooky contest ring. “Sonic waves!” And an eerie wail echoed across the audience.
Finally, it was time for Fiera’s grand finale. She got out an apple, bright and shiny. “Now- nibble!” She called, a little quieter so the audience couldn’t hear the frankly nonthreatening command. Madison swept down to Fiera’s arm and dug her fangs into the apple. It was a little adorable in that she wasn’t really doing much other than getting spit on it, but sure enough the apple withered and collapsed in front of the audience as it’s very life was sucked out. An appreciative murmur spread, and Fiera Bowes to take her leave. With any luck, they would stand out.
(Madison uses fly, screech, wing buff, echolocate, Sonic waves, and ebil nom on command.) (Male poison dart please!)
