I've been thinking about this for a while, but considering we've implemented secondary characters, and there are ways for people to get permanency for their secondaries now anyway, would it be possible to bring back Spriting?
My general pitch is as follows:
That said, I'd also like to make some changes to the Spriting process.
I went back to the original Sprite info thread on the old site and... honestly, the Sprite creation rules were really restrictive relative to any other character type. I know it's because they were 'special' and that at the time, they were also distinct because they were permanent with a one-time payment, but considering we have access to permanency for regular secondaries now, it'd be nice if Sprites became more comparable to normal characters.
So I'd like to propose the following:
1. Sprites have modified base stats following the original thread
2. Sprites have an attribute list with the following (pulled from a mix of existing traits, especially those the Fae have access to; abilities that Hara have; and the moves/attributes Sprites were given access to in the OG thread)
3. That Sprites have access to the same 6 Trait Points that all other character races have access to, rather than the 4 that the OG thread specifies
4. Re: the art requirement, I don't think that's necessary. None of the standard character types have an art requirement beyond what already exists (pet characters), and users can always create or commission art of their own Sprites if they want to. I think it'd just be a lot of extra work to have character portraits or something thrown into the Spriting process; and especially if we're moving away from railroading them as garden/nature characters by default, the tree thing doesn't really make sense to enforce either.
Essentially I think they'd be more fun if their lore and character-building mechanics were a lot less restrictive than what Eluuri had set up.
My general pitch is as follows:
Spriting is available as a "permanent secondary character". Instead of paying 20 QP or 10k credits, the user must have a level 50 Harachiu and pay a reduced fee (ie half cost? staff discretion if it should be more expensive than that, but I think it'd be nice to have a cost reduction since the lvl 50 Hara req already imposes a time/effort cost).
That said, I'd also like to make some changes to the Spriting process.
