It was weird. The human had learned to do their own shopping after a bifold issue arose- one was that they did not find the staffing in their home (before the robots that was) to be adequate and decided to begin doing things theirself. They sometimes sent the Jackalope, who was an excellent courier, after things, but sometimes Morgan needed things done whenever the time was inconvenient for others. That was when the bespectacled individual found theirself going to shops and figuring out how one was supposed to procure items and hand over credits. It was a conundrum for some time.
And now they were mining. Out in the canyons, with their bonded of course, and never for very long at a time. They didn't really have the musculature for it.
Morgan gives another genuine smile, at that. "Her name is Millicent. S-she is a harachiu. She's got all the attitude in the world, I fear." A slight chuckle escapes them, soft and low. "S-she's one of my prides and joy- technically s-she has adopted siblings, my tat-lung family." Perhaps a bit funny, that someone as young as Morgan was in charge of raising a young harachiu that was practically a teen! At that, it was time to go in. Morgan nodded, and called for Cozette, but only in a gentle fashion, not using her commands. That way she would know it was still okay to play.
Cozette knew this place very well, and she had a hunch that they were going to go to a room away from the rest of the people, those that weren't their people of course, to play. It wasn't a big shock to her when it was time to head back, but she kept a fond eye on the patronne. She really wanted to play with him!
Morgan nods, and pushes their glasses further up their nose with two fingers, having realized that they have dropped down a bit. It was hard to find frames small enough for their features. "I understand t-that well. You seem to be raising y-your houluh with much care." They said, truthfully. "Inky's a lovely charm of a hound."

Harachiu and tat-lung, as a little family? The notion of it was a funny one, but nice, in Nadia's mind's eye. It was about the connection rather than the form one took, after all. A chosen family could, in many cases, be a much better thing than one of blood. "She sounds darling. They are lovely little souls, aren't they?" Taking care of one herself was a scary notion, and she hadn't found herself bold enough to commit to in in any circumstance thus far. It was very different from caring for other creatures - it was a small person, looking to you for guidance. "I commend you for your efforts." The room was upon them before long, and she let herself in without hesitation; she was growing accustomed to the building. Inky followed, but kept turning back to the matronne, his tail still wagging. It was time to play, was it? There was plenty of room for them to race around! "Thank you, truly," Nadia said, with an honest, grateful smile. "I... it feels good, to have something I can pour effort into." [16]

Morgan was smiling on the outside, but also a little bittersweet on the inside. They were happy with their little family, which was ever extending it would seem (as their little siblings grew up to have clutches of their own, or adopting young for themselves, and Morgan continued to take in adoptions of their own), but they missed their father. It was a shame none of their new family will have met him. When they think about it, they feel sad- but the sting has lessened over the years.
The human nods. "They're also very b-brave." Millicent often scared them a bit- she was so small, but she took life like taking a murp by the horns. Some folks seemed a little less than happy to accept Morgan's harachiu as their child (while most Harachiu Morgan had met were well taken care of, there were always folks out there that treated any living being terribly), so they were always glad to be able to speak about her without judgement.
"W-what do you like to do?" Morgan asks, redirecting the conversation. They felt a little bad for taking up so much of the talking, today, but then again- even that was some progress over their own normal.
Cozette's tail was wagging quite a bit now, like a little pendulum. The room was so big! She glances around, trying to decide what to play. Finally, she simply looks to the patronne for guidance. What did he want to do?
Wasn't that the truth? Morgan watches the two hounds for a moment, with a lot of fondness behind their glasses. "It t-takes a lot of love to be a beast tamer, indeed." Then, they admitted- "Sometimes animals are a l-little easier than people are."

Nadia could imagine. Growing up small in a big world, one would have to learn how to protect themselves, whether that meant physical or emotional strength. Harachiu tended to have personalities far larger than their bodies - she knew a boy like that, though he'd likely protest at being compared to something that short. Inky looked around. Hmm... there was a tug rope in a toy box nearby! He was enthusiastic when he bounded over to pick it up, and brought it back, holding onto one end so Cozette could take the other. He wouldn't pull too roughly, he promised! It would all be very safe and calm! "Me? Ah... well..." Nadia's fingers twisted the chain of her necklace. She was almost embarrassed to discuss her own interests, as fanciful as they were. "I... I like to write, when my attention is not monopolised by my companions. O-or riding. I love to ride in the woodland." [18]

Morgan was not necessarily a large person theirself. They were actually very tall for a person of their build, and most people towered over them. They still couldn't imagine being as small as Millicent was- and yet they were nervous of nearly everything. Breaking Waar had been terrifying, they remembered how they tied their wrists down using a rope (probably a bad idea in the long haul) to increase the odds of them being able to hold on. Most houluh were actually stronger than they were, in fact.
Cozette's tail was wagging ninety to nothing when she saw the tug rope. Oh, that sounded like fun! It was a game that she had played before, and a mostly safe one, at that. She waits for it to be brought to her, politely. Whenever it was brought to her, she reaches out gingerly to take hold of it, and then tightens her grip down, spreading out her front legs to make sure that she would be able to pull. She was ready!
Morgan noted the tell, and realized another thing that made them feel quite a bit more comfortable- that was nervousness, wasn't it? It was perhaps odd to be happy that someone else was nervous, but it did make them feel far more comfortable than they usually were around others. Morgan pretends not to notice, taking a sip of their coffee in the process (it had cooled considerably, but they were nearly done with it anyway). "So y-you are a writer?" Morgan grins. "That's an admirable trait!" They kept their eyes on the houluh, now, hoping not to be seen as too rude. "What species do you ride?" They ask, conversationally.

Inky was charmed with Cozette. She was pretty, and she wanted to play with him, which was more than could be said of his training partner, Indie. She was a real snooty gal! He was glad that he was here with this matronne and not her. He changed his posture to give himself better purchase, and then began to pull, firm but careful not to hurt her. Nadia was relieved, that Morgan was so calm. She felt a certain kinship with them, even in their short time as acquaintances - they were like her. A little anxious, if she could be so bold as to think such. In that space, it was nothing to be ashamed of, and that was an enormous weight off her shoulders. Even then, her posture was relaxing and her smile was coming easily. "Oh, thank you... I am very much an amateur, but... it's a passion of mine," She confessed. The mention of riding, however, perked her up. "Galabex are my favourite, but I own a few Equillion too. Perhaps you can meet them sometime." [20]
