Back at the centre again. Nadia was starting to think she should set up a tent outside, with all her comings and goings to the place. The receptionists were going to get sick of seeing her. Still, she was in a cheery mood as she walked alongside Inky to the doors, because she was due to see a friend for a lovely match. Inky was a father once over, and she had been delighted with the resulting litter. It wouldn't hurt to go for another so soon, would it? It wasn't like she wasn't already swimming in pups - one more to add to the group wouldn't be that much of a stretch. If she got bored of them, she could lock them in Obsidion's room with him and call it entertainment. All they had to do was wait. Inky sat at her side as she began to scribble through the papers. [1]

Moonbeam was about to retire, she had been in high demand for breeding it would seem, due to her moon marking. She was a wonderful Houluh though and an even more wonderful mother, so it didn't bother her at all. Jack was happy one of her Houluh was set out to retire though, since Luna already was, but she had a token for Luna to have one more breeding, she just had to wait a little. Pushing her hair back, the woman walked to the Breeding Center with Moonbeam at her side and smiled when she thought she saw Nadia inside. She pushed open the door and let her sweet Houluh inside and went in after her. "Hey there Nadia, how's it going?" she asked with a smile, waving when she saw her back. There was a Patronne next to her, that must be Inky, she figured at the moment?

Inky noticed the arrival of Jack and her matronne before Nadia did. Thrilled to see someone - anyone - walk in through the door, he turned to face them with an enthusiastically wagging tail and his tongue lolling out. Were they friends? Well, they would be, if they came over and talked to him! "Jack, hello!" Each time they met, Nadia was more comfortable, and was happy to throw herself into conversation without her usual nervous habits. "How do you fare? This must be the beautiful Moonbeam... hello, sweetheart." Moonbeam was a beautiful matronne. She was proud of her breeding stock, but didn't have anything quite like her; with a bit of luck, the matronne's genes would come out dominant and pass down some interesting patterns. It had been a mixed bag in terms of genetics with her lot so far, but that was the fun of the draw, and she didn't resent it. [3]

Moonbeam's tail wagged regally for a moment and she trotted over to the Patronne, sniffing at him a little in introduction before giving a low woof. She got her low voice from her grandmother, Luna's voice was pretty low as well. Everything was good for her at the moment, and she knew that everything was going to go well, she was an old pro at this point, she knew what they were going to do, they were going to leave with pups!
Giving a little chuckle, Jack nodded, "Yes, this is Moonbeam, from Luna's line. This is Inky?" She reached over to let Inky sniff her a little before pulling her hand back and pushing her own hair back a little before shaking it out again. "I heard he's been bred before? At least I saw a new pup in the HAA who had a plaque that had your Kennel on it. It's a beautiful pup..." she said with a smile.

Inky was overjoyed. They were coming to play with him! Then, there was no time to waste - he had to introduce himself to everyone, fast. Jack was his first target, and he sniffed over her hand with delight, butting his head under it for scratches. Once he was satisfied, then he could move onto the matronne, who-- woah! She was very pretty! Really different from the others he knew. That was neat! "Yes, this is Inky. He is a sweet boy," Nadia beamed, obviously proud of her patronne. He had been awfully easy to handle his whole life, other than when his excess energy reared its head. She'd been blessed with great specimens. "Yes, he has fathered one litter prior to this. They were all such beautiful pups, it still feels terrible to let one go... but I know that they will find a good home, one way or another." [5]

"If I can finish up with the pup I adopted... I might have to go for that one, it was almost too adorable to pass up," she sighed wistfully, absently scratching Moonbeam's head with her fingertips, "But I also have so many pups at the moment, I really need to stop, it's getting out of hand." A frown crossed her face before she shook her head, there was no time to dwell on it right now. "Well it's lovely to meet you Inky," she told the Patronne with a wide grin.
The Matronne looked at the excited Houluh with a bit of alarm, was he always that filled with energy? She gave a smile, the way only a Houluh could, and nuzzled up to him a little, licking at his cheek if he allowed her to. This was going to be... interesting, but his markings were lovely and she wondered what kind of pups they would have.

Inky only had a vague understanding of what this place meant. All he really figured was that it had made him very happy last time - he'd loved spending time with the other matronne, and if it was going to happen again with this one, he was more than ready for it! He gave her a little nuzzle before setting off towards the hallway to the breeding rooms, tail still wagging in circles. "Hold, Inky, we aren't ready!" Nadia laughed, shaking her head. "He is a bold one. I understand your predicament with puppies... I feel I am swimming in them currently, but I am yet to be bored with it. They delight me, so it is no chore to care for them." There were an awful lot of them, though. Her smile was wry as she turned in the paperwork; she should rein it in after this breeding, but knew it was unlikely. [7]

"It's just... a lot sometimes. Definitely not boring, but a lot of work to get them grown," Jack said with a little chuckle, resting an elbow on the counter. She watched as the Patronne raced down the hallways and laughed full out, "There's something to be said for enthusiasm, I suppose." Moonbeam turned her head to look at her and the woman nodded a little. The little Matronne trotted after him, barking loud and low as she went to follow him to wherever he was going at the moment.
The Matronne was excited too, in her own demure way, and her tail was held high as she followed Inky, wondering where he was off to. She didn't get out of sight of Jack, however, she didn't want to lose her in the Breeding Center or anything, that would be the worst of it all! Jack waved to her with a smile, "I don't figure either of us will stop breeding though." Her voice was dry and honest at least.

Nadia looked apologetically at the receptionist. She felt terrible for the staff, having to deal with her houluh acting like they owned the place - plus, they were always there nowadays, for some reason or other. Perhaps she should buy them some flowers, or a fruit basket. Anything nice to keep them sweet. "Very hard work, but extremely rewarding," She said, beginning the walk along the hall to the correct door. Once there, she beckoned to Inky, who was happy to bound in and begin sniffing around the room in search of treats, toys, or both. "I find it so satisfying to exhibit all the effort I've put in to my houluh. They are my pride and joy." Inky was more of the joy than the pride. He'd discovered the toy box and was pawing at it, trying to get to its contents with greater ease. There had to be some cool toys in there! [9]

Jack gave the attendant an apologetic look as well, she was always there for some breeding or another, not just Houluh, this was almost like her second home. She sheepishly followed Nadia to the room and called for Moonbeam to go in first before she found her way inside as well. The Matronne was thrilled with things, it would seem, and started to sniff around the room as well, if only to find a toy they could both play with.
The woman settled into a chair and laced her fingers behind her head, "I mean, I agree, very rewarding. It's always nice to have hard work be appreciated, or at least seen, and in some other aspect than fights." She was big in the Pit, of course, but that didn't mean she wanted to branch out into other areas as well. The Salonnes had seemed like the best place to start at this point.

Inky was not about to give up on the toy box, even if it was causing him difficulties. He'd get into it one way or another! It was simply a matter of-- ah! A well placed paw, and the box tipped, spilling out a ball that bounced across the room. Excellent! "I cannot imagine," Nadia said. It was true that she had been involved in work in the Pit before, but it was not something she enjoyed, and she wanted to distance herself from it if she could manage that. It caused her too much stress to be considered as a viable option for training work. "I commend you, but it is not my scene. The Contest Hall lines up with my interests to a greater degree." The patronne chased after the ball as it moved, retrieved it, and then went to place it at Moonbeam's feet. An offering, of sorts! [11]

Moonbeam barked happily and danced from side to side with her front paws for a moment when he got the box open. Oh, he brought a toy over to her? She beamed and pawed at it with a forepaw and then chased it along, barking at Inky with an invitation to follow her along and try to get the ball like she was!
"I could see that not really being your forte," Jack admitted with a little smile, thinking of her gentle friend in the Pit made her anxious a little bit, "The Contest Hall is much more varied I think, I definitely see you there instead of the Pit." Sure she loved the Pit, she loved seeing all this training she did to defend themselves put to use, but it wasn't for everyone, and that was perfectly fine! Grinning a little, she hoped that she could save up enough points for something specific she had her eyes on.

It was a good job Jack didn't know about Nadia's sarane thoughts. Though the pits distressed her, she was well aware that her drake hatchling was growing up fast - if she didn't bite the bullet and attempt a breaking, before long, he would be wild and murderous, and there would be no hope of fostering a relationship between them. That was all yet to be decided, but frequently popped into her head. "I hear you are quite the Pit wonder, my dear," She teased, crossing one leg over the other and leaning back in her seat. The casual posture was a huge sign of her growing comfort around the other woman. "I quake in your presence, o mighty Jack!" Inky didn't have to be asked twice. He set off after the ball, catching up with it rather quickly, but ended up batting it further away with his excitable, clumsy nose. [13]

Jack laughed and shook her head, "I guess I've won my fair share of tournaments, but that doesn't mean much, just that I like to train." She looked at her friend and winked jokingly, lacing her fingers together behind her head for a little while, leaning back against the wall. Maybe more than her fair share, she figured with a little wince, but if she hadn't, she wouldn't have had enough points to do what she wanted with the Pit prizes. Oh well, she was cooling off a little recently, she had even lost a few fights, which bothered her but not too badly anymore. Maybe she was getting a little more mature when it came to the Pit, she didn't really know. "You know, the Salonne's have been pretty popular lately haven't they?" she offered for a distraction.
The Matronne yipped excitedly and chased after the ball happily, wondering what she was going to do in order to catch it. This was fun though, she liked chasing with the Patronne!
