"Are there any on how to make it like me? That's the hard part, I think. Trying to actually connect with it." Books... none of them had told her how to make the node like her. They'd told her how the spell that she wanted worked, and a vague idea of how to tap in to the node's power, but it just... didn't want to. Yet. She just didn't yet feel connected to her little source of mystical powers in the way that she needed to be yet, it seemed.
She wanted to take up Jack's offer, she really did. Learning from someone who actually knew what they were doing wpuld probably be a lot more helpful than DIYing it from a couple books she'd found stuffed in to the back or the library or a used book store, buried away from where most people would have seen them if not explicitly searching them out. Sevyrn just really did not know how to tell another living person that there she was, sacrificing a piece of her own soul in a desperate attempt to get back a soul that had already left. The thought of saying it out loud just sounded.... pathetic. Could that feeling, that lingering bit of shame over her own decisions, be what kept her from what she sought?
Yeah, maybe they were a good pair - they were both used to being the bearer of a puppy cuddle pile. Out of the corner of her eye Sweetie noticed a rope toy and for a moment she left the patronne to bring it over. Once laying back down in front of him, she nosed one end of the toy towards him and started chewing on the other side. If he couldn't run around and play, they could at least share laying down.

Jack thought for a little bit, it wasn't necessarily liking her... "I guess it's not really having a node like you, it's more... accepting that you've done it and bringing the magic into yourself," she finally said, rubbing her chin a little as she spoke, "It's a big deal, and it gets easier with time, but you have to know that you did this for a reason, and you have to believe you can use it for it's intended purpose, for good or for bad, though I don't think you'd use it for anything bad." Giving her a smile, she reached out to touch her shoulder, "You'll do good things, I believe in you."
Light's eyes watched her as she moved along and then brought a rope toy over. His tail thumped against the floor and he started to chew on the rope a little, careful not to yank or else he might haul her over to him!

At least she wasn't the only person who struggled to make use of their node for the first time - wasn't the oddball in a situation that most people seemed to grasp. That knowledge came as a relief to Sevyrn, who swirled the little node around one more time and then put it back in her pocket. There was no doubt that she would be working with it again tonight... her time to grasp its powers would come, hopefully soon.
"I mean, it's a hollow node," Sevyrn mused. "From what I've read they're relatively benign, in terms of good and bad capabilities. Though I suppose anything can be used for wrong if in the hands of someone who seeks that." It wasn't wrong what she wanted to do, not morally at least - she would cause no one any pain except likely herself.
Sweetie... would not have minded being pulled towards her new companion - it would be more play-like than just sharing a toy, at least. The matronne urged herself a little closer once again, this time close enough that she could lick the side of his face. She didn't mind being lazy and calm once in a while, at least.

"I guess that's true, they're a good start to getting magic down. It could have been much worse and you could have saved up for a chaos or dark node," she offered with a sparkle to her eyes to show she was teasing. Even the little grin she offered meant she was trying to lessen the mood a little bit at this point. Jack really wasn't one to keep things serious for too long if things had been resolved, she wasn't one to really dwell on things ever, right?
He tilted his head, and his ears flopped over as she inched forward a little, and Light reached out to try and touch his nose to hers. Things were alright, and he woofed playfully at the same time, reaching out to try and bop her on the head with a large paw. It was hard for him to control himself sometimes, but he tried pretty hard right now.

Yeah... those elements would likely never be Sevyrn's thing - maybe an earth or water one day, but never anything veering on destructive. Luckily she could tell that Jack was joking around with her, and she offered a small smile in return. "Yeah, I don't think that's my thing... Thanks, though. For offering to help out. I really want to get it down myself but who knows... I might end up needing you."
Oof. Sweetie pulled her head back as one of Light's big paws knocked her on the nose. He really was Mr. Bigfoot, huh? It wasn't bad, though - she wasn't hurt or anything. Sweetie barked back at the patronne and offered her own little head bop, though hers was much gentler than Light's given her smaller size and hence feet. She wanted the other houlou to know that he didn't have to feel bad - she didn't mind playing around, puppy feet might be smaller but she dealt with a whole sixteen of those daily compared to his one.

Smiling a little in return, the woman dug out a white node and showed it to her friend, "You might do well with a light node, there's a lot of healing spells in there you can learn. I know a few of them, but it's something to look in to, takes a lot of materials though, that's the downside." After showing it, she put it back into her pouch and secured it onto her belt once more so they wouldn't drop off. This had been a pretty good day, and she was happy to have helped Sevyrn with something, or at least she hoped she had.
He saw her pull back a little and looked sad for a moment before brightening up when she bopped him back. A happy bark escaped him and he rolled onto his back, showing his belly a little out of excitement. Things were looking up! At least he was coming out of his shell a little bit.
