The day started like most other days in which Morgan was off from work. They woke up, audibly grumbled about having to be off from work (apparently them being off of work helped company morale or something like that, or else they'd hardly ever leave their personal Lab) and then did the chores for the day, including dropping Millicent off for school. At this, they readied to bring Mink out to the breeding center.
She was a lovely hound, all spots and white. She had a most peculiar coloration, and Morgan wanted to see what kind of pups they could get from her. The last houluh breeding they had done had wound up swell, so they were a little less anxious to be meeting a new person today than they had been before. Morgan stops at the Catseye Cafe, picks up a pumpkin spice coffee, and walks Mink to the breeding center.
They stand outside of the breeding center for a moment, sipping on their coffee, and letting Mink sniff around the area on the leash. They loved this time of year, so they enjoyed being out in the weather for a few more moments at least.

New people, new houlou, new puppies - the latter two of those new things made the first part a little bit more bearable.
Sevyrn had her own spotted pooch who she loved very dearly, but thanks to her own decisions with her first breeding she hadn't come home with any new spotted puppies - and as things seemed to be with her, that was simply wrong. She loved Spot's crescent-marked daughter dearly, she really did but... well... She'd come across the opportunity to breed her patronne once again, this time with the mother of one of her most darling little puppies. How was she supposed to say no to that?
She was nervous as she walked towards the breeding center, as she always was when coming across a new face. Hopefully they would be able to get along but... worst case? Well, she didn't like to consider the idea of a worst case, even though simply never meeting up with this person again was really as bad as it could get.
Spot noticed the pair outside of the center first, and started to trot towards them. He was excited but relatively calm - overall a well behaved patronne. He didn't wander too far from her so Sevyrn didn't call him back until they reached the point where they risked violating the other pair's comfort zone.
"Morgan?" Sevyrn asked, hoping that she had found the right person here and didn't look completely silly.

It was a little nerve wracking to meet new people, but they were ready for it. This time of year was fairly invigorating for them, they tended to have many more 'good' days during autumn than they had bad.
Morgan is sure to pet Mink, but as always she is a little aloof. She was perhaps the most aloof houluh that Morgan had worked with so far. It wasn't that she did not like to be petted, or did not like company... It was more like she liked to feel like she had control of most situations, Morgan figured. It was a strange disposition for a large hound-creature to have. Mink played 'hard to get', and Morgan just put up a little bit more effort to pet her, and the houluh was happy.
Mink could smell the fresh smell of another houluh. She perks her head up but doesn't look straight on. Instead, she sort of tosses her head over her shoulder and side-eyes the newcomer. She doesn't stand up from her sitting position on the leash, and instead casts her khaki gaze somewhat judgmentally at first over the patronne. She seems to decide that he is acceptable- and gives Morgan a quick glance for permission to engage.
Morgan notices only after their name is said (mostly because Mink was taking up their attention for a moment there), and it startles them ever so slightly (they tried to hide the reaction after the fact). They turned, grinned in that somewhat mechanical way they would when they saw a worker down the hallways of WELP and tried to be polite while not really knowing how, and looped the leash around their wrist to extend their hand in greeting. "Y-you most be Sevyrn?" They half asked-half declared in a somewhat soft tone.

Ah, yes - this did seem to be the right person. Sevyrn found herself rather relieved as the person before her stuttered out their confirmation... Imagine if this had been the wrong person - now that would have been awkward. Luckily Sevyrn had pretty good luck, at least down here - she hadn't tried to introduce herself to the wrong person yet. It was bound to happen one of these days, that was realistically what her luck actually was like.
"Yes!" She confirmed, grin beaming across her face. She was nervous, always was around a new face, but that was okay. Usually she could semi-feign a little bit of confidence. "And this guy here is my Spotty boy," she continued, pointing towards Spot as she did so. The patronne heard his name and looked towards the girl with his head cocked.
What was going on? He was more interested in meeting the rather aloof matronne in front of him, who seemed to have decided that he was some kind of acceptable. His tail wagged and he let out a little greeting bark, a soft thing meant to sound friendly. Hopefully she would like him.

Morgan always left their house quite a bit early when it came to houluh dates. They didn't want to be late, but they did enjoy having some coffee with them if they were going to be out dealing with polite society for a while. They could get away with some of their harsher vices in their everyday life, and even a little bit at work on harsh projects, but when it came to meeting new people- well, the caffeine helped to keep them from wanting to smoke quite as badly. It was a terrible habit, but one of many that they had.
The human gives a polite nod. "N-nice to meet you." They managed to get out. That was the correct thing to say, they've found out and been practicing lately. They weren't all that great at 'people-ing'. "A-and nice to meet you, Spot." Morgan said, giving a genuine smile to the spotty patronne. That was a handsome hound, right there. He had very soft, sort of sooty spots that reminded Morgan of chocolate crumbles in ice-cream. "T-this is Mink. I h-have to apologize first off, she's a lovely matronne, b-but one of my more standoffish houluh." Actually, she was their most stand-offish houluh, but she wasn't typically straight on aggressive. "N-not aggressive, just... Ah- I'm n-not even sure what the word would be." She did take care of pups well, though.
Mink watches the patronne with interest, and tries to feign a yawn while discretely trying to take a smell of him. She knew what was going on- and she wanted to make sure that she liked this patronne. He is wagging his tail, and at the soft bark, she decides that she likes him at least a little. She doesn't bark in return, but instead wags her tail loose and low. She was trying to take stock of the situation, to figure out what kind of personality the patronne had. His little face blotch was cute, if she had to admit it to herself.

"There's nothing to apologize for," Sevyrn assured as she started to move towards the doors to the breeding center, figuring that everyone had their introductions and there was no time like the present to head on in and get comfortable... as comfortable as they could be, at least. Morgan seemed to be more nervous than she was, and though Sevyrn found it a relief that she wasn't the only one so awkward about meeting new people she did hate to see others seeming to struggle - she wasn't that bad.
"Spot here's pretty friendly himself, most of mine are, but it's not like we can expect them to be cookie cutters. I like her... She seems to care about who she surrounds herself with." With that Sevyrn pulled the door open with one arm and used the other to gesture to Morgan, offering them first bid in to the building. Sevyrn then called to Spot who seemed to be more interested in getting to know his new houlou acquaintance than anything. He did as he was supposed to, however, and waltzed his way down towards the entrance. Hopefully the matronne would follow suit?

Morgan breathes out the most quiet sigh of relief whenever the first round of pleasantries were done, and the individual that was accompanying them to this particular houluh breeding was moving over to the door. They took a quick sip of their coffee, filling the moment of silence and trying not to feel too awkward. So far this was going good, though. "T-thank you." They managed out, almost too quiet. They weren't entirely sure what the societal expectation level of 'nice' was when it came to actions or words here, but they were going to figure it out! Spot did look like a cute little friendly fella. Morgan allows theirself a look over at both of the houluh, a quick glance. It would seem that Mink liked this one. They were completely relieved about it- she was sometimes very picky about her mates. "He seems lovely, s-such a handsome fella." Morgan says, realizing that the other individual was going to let them into the door. There was no point in argumentation there, so they politely dipped their head and ducked on through the door. Mink followed the Patronne, though. Her tail held very even, and posture perhaps a little haughty. Her eyes were all on him, though. [7]

Sevyrn moved quick to get things started, familiar with the routine of the breeding center after many trips here with Jack and then later with several others - almost too quick. She flitted about towards the front desk as soon as everyone had made theirbway through the door, a bundle of nerves going through a mental checklist of everything that needed to be done. Spot was familiar with his girl's sudden "all business" demeanor and paid little mind to it, more interested in the female houlou that accompanied them, the new place, and the new friend.
It was as she reached the front desk that she turned on her heels, eyes wide as she realized she may as well have just left Morgan behind. "I can handle the paperwork stuff if you want?" She paused to offer like it hadn't been an afterthought, an almost jumble of quick-paced words aimed towards her newest acquaintances.

Perhaps it was a little odd for Morgan to visibly become less uptight whenever the other individual turned to get the process started, but Morgan never really claimed to be 'normal'. They kept their mind on the task, keeping their eye on their own houluh since she was a little bit on the 'difficult' side. It had been a while since they'd gotten out with her, or really any of their houluh. However, the houluh seemed to be taking to the situation much better than previously expected and that was a relief in and of itself. Morgan follows, and gives a polite, professional grin when the other individual turns around. "If y-you would like." An apologetic head dip was given once it crossed their mind that the other individual seemed a bit on the flustered side for sure. That made them feel a little better, as well. "T-thanks."

Sevyrn wouldn't have found it abnormal that Morgan would relax over her taking the lead - they may have only known each other a few minutes but it was hard to miss the air of anxiety that her breeding partner exuded. Had her sudden fluster of 'oh shit, there's someone else who might want to be involved' bothered them? Sevyrn had no way of knowing, and she also wasn't about to ask, struggling to find a way to talk confidently with people that she wasn't already comfortable... it was quite the conundrum - she couldn't talk well to people she wasn't comfortable with, she couldn't get comfortable with people because she couldn't talk well. Oh well, she'd managed this far.
She'd need to ask Morgan a couple questions to fill out some information about Mink - who Spot was trying to impress, he had been here before after all - but she moved through the paperwork as much as she could, and then it was simply time to wait for an available room. Once waiting, Sevyrn looked towards Morgan. "You know, I have one of her daughters. There was this adorable little pup in the HAA, I had to take her home. She's doing amazing," Sevyrn said, trying to fill the idle air with conversation. Luckily she knew that the two at least had one thing in common - houlou.

Had Morgan been a mind-reader, which they certainly were not, they probably would have been even more relaxed with the entire situation. It would perhaps be comforting to note that they weren't the only person with 'rusty' (the thought would have made them chuckle) interpersonal skills. It was kind of hard to pick that kind of skill up when one was so young when something as difficult as the loss of a parent and orphaning had struck all at once and without warning. Especially when one was already in a rather privileged strata that often did not have to interreact with the majority of the Labs denizens if they chose not to.
Mink regards the patronne with obvious interest, though she was trying to remain aloof. Though she ranged towards being one of Morgan's most high-strung pets, she was growing much more confident towards this latter trip than she had been able to be before. She wasn't the best at raising her own pups, but she was beginning to get used to that, too. She lowers her head ever so slightly, and sniffs in the direction of the spotted houluh.
Morgan follows, a bit content perhaps to be the follower in this situation since they spent so much of their days leading and being asked questions... Generally being looked to and expected to know all the answers. It was freeing, in a way. They give a solid grin however when the pup is mentioned. "Ah, w-which one did you pick up?" It was obvious that they were proud of the stock they had. "Cozette may run a little o-on the high-strung end, b-but she makes some pretty pups." Then they chuckled and added- "Though I'm sure your boyo there does as well!"

"Her father was Natural's All for Nothing, so one of Jack's patronnes. Jupe is doing fantastic these days, just about ready to grow up herself." Sevyrn, obviously, already had high opinions about Mink's babies given how much she adored Jupiter, In her opinion, Spot had come pretty cute pups himself, too, and she imagined this spotty pair would add some amazingly pretty new spotted pups to the game... Did she really need another spotted pup? Probably not, but that wasn't about to stop her.
"Oh he's got some beautiful babies, you won't be disappointed," Sevyrn assured, trying to flow with the natural rythym of conversation as she finished up the paperwork - now it was just time to wait. It was almost the worst part of the whole thing, just idling around waiting for their room. Spot didn't seem phased by it at all, though - he was beign much less aloof with Mink than she was being with him, hopefully not making a bad impression in the meantime.

Morgan tilts their head, going over the breedings in their head- Ah, That one! "Ah yes, that one was her last breeding before this wuh-one I think." That male was a spotty fellow too, though not as spotty as these two hounds. The patronne had large russet blotches, and the puppies tended towards that, though with smaller spots if they remembered. The name that this individual had picked for the puppy was adorable though. "That is a cute name for the pup- is it a nickname?" Morgan asks, looking just past the houluh ahead of them as they did so. They didn't feel that it was polite to stare someone down in a less formal communication setting like this one.
"Oh, I'm sue they'll make lovely pups!" Morgan says, a grin glimmering through. Mink was slowly letting down her guard now, her tail lowering to a more normal position, her expression beginning to become more curious about the male as opposed to anxious. Finally, she leans down (pretending to stretch as she does) until her front legs are completely on the floor, and her hind legs are all the way up. She cocks her head at the patronne. Perhaps they could play?

"Yeah, it is! Her full name's Jupiter now," Sevyrn elaborated, more than happy to talk about houlou - and especially Jupiter - to fill the gaps that otherwise would have likely been awkward silence.
Spot was keeping a curious eye on the matronne, the way she stretched and the position she decided to stay in. When she cocked her head towards him Spot jumped a foot closer to her and dropped in to a similar position, his tail starting to wag a mile a minute. Play time with a pretty lady? He could definitely deal with that. He let out a low - and rather quiet - woof towards the matronne, and reached a paw out towards her.
Sevyrn was pleased to see the two starting to get along a bit more - she knew Spot would have no problem getting friendly, but she never knew how someone else's houlou was going to react to him.
