A Masquerade. This one a community event, not held off in the middle of nowhere at some guy's creepy mansion. Tower. Thing. That should probably make Kadin feel better about this whole thing, but to be honest? He was still leery of going. He didn't care about dressing up. He didn't care what people thought of him if he didn't dress up. He wasn't even completely sure why he was going, other than how Rochelle had said some things about how it was 'good for him to get out there' and how he could 'advertise for the cafe while he was at it!'
Whatever. Kadin didn't care, but he had plenty of masks and there couldn't be THAT much harm in just showing up for a little while then leaving. So, in probably the laziest costume ever, Kadin grabbed a black cat mask, dressed in all his best black, non-burnt clothes (jeans, t-shirt, and blazer) and made his way to this Masquerade. He just hoped there'd be free food. Luckily, there WAS a candy bowl and he didn't hesitate to snag a piece of candy out of it. And, to make things easier on himself, he didn't bring any pets this time.
Or so he thought.
Tykoel wasn't called a trickster for nothing. When he heard that the human who was apparently taking care of things now was going to a costume party of all places and wasn't going to invite a single one of them along, well! He just had to take things into his own claws, so to speak. (Although, let's be honest. He probably would have done so anyway. A COSTUME party!)
He knew exactly what he was going as, too. All that human every paid any attention to these days were houluh and sarane, sarane and houluh. Pah! BORING! CLEARLY Tykoel needed to show him HOW boring that was! So he had the perfect plan. He would dress up at one of them! The houluh, obviously, would look best on him, but he'd be found out too quickly. So, instead, he needed to dress up like a sarane! The tat-lung had enlisted the help of any pet he could find that had claws that could grab and badgered them until they helped him create his costume. He collected shed fur from any creature he could find to attach to his tail to disguise how long and thing it was under all of the fluff. He painted over his more distinctive markings and changed his own to look more like a sarane's, turning his stripes into ones like a blue's. He figured that his white scales were fine as they were, he could just pretend he was a mix between a blue and a white. He wore claw caps to make his bigger, a muzzle over his own to hide his whiskers and make that look bigger, too. He used gel to turn his fluff into spines that ran down his back. And, to top it all off, he combined wire and stretchy fabric and cardboard and paint together to fashion himself teeny, tiny wings that he could wear with a harness strapped around his chest and legs. That's right. He didn't dress up just like a sarane, he dressed up as a hen sarane, figuring that trying to move around with drake-sized wings would just be too annoying for him, anyway.
So Tykoel snuck into the Masquerade, sneaking through the gardens and trees and darting under the buffet table the first chance he could get. Hah! See if the human ever leaves him home during a party after this.
