Lisle was generally a very chill individual, if Renathan did say so himself. He was easily one of Renathan's best companions, and the mammalian couldn't help but be proud of how well he was coping despite their obvious difficulties communication properly even at this point. That was Renathan's fault in all actuality; he should probably spend more time speaking with Lisle to get him used to using the 'words' his collar allowed him to use. Lisle was just a calm and quiet individual to begin with. They lined up at the starting line, Renathan shook hands with a few different competitors, and then settled himself down on the sled, making sure that he was properly strapped in. This was... Well, this was going to be something! Renathan was a little nervous now that it was so close to beginning. He really wasn't sure if this was going to be dangerous or not.

Renathan's earlier worries about snow returned. He'd done his best to brush up on the absolute basics of snow physics, but it was still a bit difficult for him to imagine unless he had actual experience with it. He knew he was going to get experience with it now regardless of whether or not he felt truly ready. Lisle stood where he was supposed to, but gave Renathan a glance over his fluffy shoulders, rumbling comfortingly at him. Lisle squints his eyes in that cat-like way that he tended to, and it did give Renathan some comfort. Renathan trusted Lisle quite a bit. Renathan was about to say something in return, but the whistle that was to warn the contestants that soon the sledding race would begin sounded off. Renathan grimaced a bit beneath his mask, and Lisle turned around (snappily) and looked down past the starting line to the bottom of the snowy hillock.

Everyone seemed about ready now. To Renathan's left a few folks down, a particularly excitable young human kid was sitting on a sled with a domestic vulticus wagging it's tail in a similarly excited manner as they waited for the signal to start. To Renathan's direct right, a very determined looking raptor-like avian was holding the reigns on a regal galabex and staring at the finish line as if the both of them were already there. Renathan would not be surprised if that individual was the favorite to win. He has his own reigns in one hand, and his other hand was nervously holding that hand. It was cold out, he could see his breath beneath the mask. Suddenly, the starting noise erupted through the silence, shattering it. Everyone started, including (much to his own surprise!) Renathan, who quickly gave Lisle the agreed-upon reign signal to let him know to go.

Lisle took off. Renathan had started his 'mount' training a long while back, even while he was still a chiryma (and not quite fully grown) but he had never really finished it. He'd had a lot going on and a lot to train, so he hadn't really had the time to do it. However, he and Lisle were quite in-tune, so Lisle had taken off running down the slope. When the sled followed him, he had a moment of panic that was shared across the two of them whenever the sled almost threatened to nip at Lisle's hind leg 'heels'. Luckily for Renathan, Lisle seemed to find a good and even pace, keeping the sled from injuring him. Renathan's heart was in his throat the entire time. He HATED this. Snow was already like... Watery mud or something when it came to consistency when going 'fast'. Everything about this made Renathan's brain scream NO!

Renathan decided he was never going to do this again about halfway down the corkscrew track around the hillock. Of course, he was overtaken by both the galabex toting the avian, and surprisingly the kid with the domestic vulticus. However, despite Renathan clearly not having fun and hating the entire thing, Lisle seemed to be enjoying himself. It was a little infectious, because towards the end of it, with the finishing line in sight, Renathan was giggling anxiously, with Lisle straight up cat-grinning. The kid wound up tying with the avian before Renathan finally got there, scoring third surprisingly. Lisle stops without Renathan's input close by the other two finishers. Renathan finally unstraps himself (shaking so much and only partially because of the cold). Well, at least the harrowing incident was finally finished, he decided. He was -never- doing this again, that was for sure! Still, it was good to be adventurous every now and again, right?
