The hen wouldn't need it with the pit, heavenssake no. But she did need the exercise, and likely a way to get out of the trouble she'd place herself in once she was older. Winding up a throw caused Vay to hop back a few feet, tail twisting in preparation behind her. Cracking a grin, Lethalia stared at the red's front paws - one was tucked up to her chest upon realizing that was where the woman's eyes rested. "Good, Vay!" With her free hand another morsel was rolled at the hen, who quirked her head at it. What.... even? Why were treats appearing when nothing had really happened? Vay placed her claws back on the ground to reach over for the grubble, but thought better and snatched it off the ground with a furitive look at the satyr even if she wasn't winding up for a throw anymore. "Yeah, that! G'job Vay!" Lethalia continued to encourage, watching the cogs turn as the hen glowered at her. danger sense|5

Now that she understood the game they were playing, Ivaylo puffed back up when she saw that plushie get picked up once she tidied up her treat. It was interesting how the red's stance was naturally sideways; instinctually she set herself up looking rather like a cat. Her back arched and the only advancement Vay would make was sideways, walking with a sideways shuffle to keep her broadside facing her adversary, tail up and stiffened in front of her like a shield to ensure any would-be aggressor hit it first. Shame for her, those wicked 'thorns' her wiring told her were there, were hardly curled-in nubs at this point in her life. Not minding much where she hit the hen, Lethalia wound up and chucked blindly at Vay just to keep the activity going. Honestly, the fact that she'd been keeping such a close eye on her owner's every move meant she was further along in figuring this out than Lethalia had hoped for. danger sense|6

"Yay Vay!" she crowed again, as the red hopped out of the way of the harmless projectile. The entire point of it was watching an opponent for their first move, and Vay actually wasn't too bad at it. She was the aggressor often enough when it came to hatchling fights, it wasn't too surprising Vay might've already picked up a thing or two. What a little prick; was she even going to be able to live in a henhouse? Peacefully? She hadn't originally envisioned this hen dominant, but with how she was acting... While the hen was distracted by the latest assault, the final plushie came careening shortly after the first. Ivaylo's head whipped up from watching the first land, tucking her rear end in to avoid the newest projectile headed at it. Lethalia smirked; surely they weren't moving strictly as if the hen was in a fight, but it was good for entertainment value right now. danger sense|7

"Thas' all fo'now," Lethalia tried telling her, holding up her empty flatted palms. Vay's little ears remained pinned back against her neck, unwilling to drop her guard just yet. "No lie, girlie. Nothin' left." Ivaylo didn't even quite relax once a few more treats were rolled her way. She wolfed them down all the same, but an eye remained on the satyr to ensure she couldn't make a sudden move. "Someone's thinkin' she's smart," Lethalia goaded, pleased at the red's focus even this early. Were hens just easier or was she smarter? "G'girl, Vay," she told her more encouragingly, ambling over to snatch up the beanie that had bounced the closest to her hooves. Vay seemed to be acutely aware of the 'live' ammunition in her owner's hands with her eyes right on the plush, making a funny growl as she was approached. Without much fanfare or warning, the red plopped down to lay on the stuffed creatures that had landed at her feet. danger sense|8

Spreading a claw closer to the last fabric critter she couldn't quite sit on, Vay gave a blusterous hiss as her owner got closer to it. Maybe someone really was a little smarter than Lethalia had been giving her credit for. "G'girl, Vay," the satyr chose to tell her, dropping the plush to show the hen empty palms as she backed away. Vay was being polite enough in her warning, and a release of the pressure she'd been piling on the hen the last few minutes would be the best reward. Besides, wasn't this what she was looking for - kind of? If the hen was smart enough to not allow Lethalia to 'reload' on what she was using to assault the hen. That seemed like a smart enough solution to get pelted less, enough that the satyr definitely had to give this one to her. Today, enough time for the hen to recover and decide she didn't have to watch her owner's every move. It felt enough like she was picking on Vay to be over putting her through it for the day. Ivaylo had put on a growth spurt just like the rest, growing from waist- to shoulder-height in a matter of days. It'd been a little while since a smaller hen had grown up, and Lethalia realized she was waiting for a scuffle to follow the hen's growing up when none came. Looking out for reasons to need to lock Vay up before she did too much property damage, all in vain. There never came a reason to kick her out for being destructive, and Lethalia wasn't sure when there came to be a full sized red hen sleeping in front of the fireplace, or how long she'd had one. It was a joy it could happen so uneventfully, instead of the spectacle drakes made of it. Though she couldn't blame a desert dwelling creature, Vay had been spending far too much time indoors through the winter. It still wasn't the best time to get a red hen in the fall, but a newly grown fresh hen for spring didn't sound like such a bad result for hibernating through the cold. Ivaylo lv|12.1 ly|12.1

Vay was big enough and the sun provided enough heat she was relishing in the smells of outside, not thoroughly explored when she had less access as a cold whelp. Now, she could go practically anywhere! Sunlight and space to roam did wonders towards thinking maybe outside wasn't so bad after all. On some of her exploring, Ivaylo stumbled across something familiar from her training as a hatching... but as usual, the human had to go and make it weird. The mattress she'd been bashing into was propped onto a brown drake dummy, the bent section of the mattress hanging haphazardly over the dummy's back. Ivyalo knew her owner did some weird things humanoids did - she had to live with human eccentricities! But this was.. different. "Remember this, Vay?" Lethalia asked, patting the side of the tired old mattress. Her little hen wasn't terribly impressed, sniffing the old thing with crinkled nose. bash|8

Since they were standing so close, even if it might've been a stupid move, Lethalia was able to catch the hen off guard enough to push her into the mattress-dummy. Vay twisted around and hissed, silenced when a chunk of meat dropped at her feet. Yeah, this was familiar, in the same annoying way. The red was still trying to figure out what this human wanted out of this with a flickering spined tail, scooping up the meat scrap and twitching an ear at the praise all the same. What a weirdo. When Ivaylo finished and looked up with a suspicious eye, Lethalia patted on the mattress again; "Bash it again, Vay?" She looked between her owner and the dummy, remembering this play a little from when she was little, but it wasn't connecting a lot of dots right now. Was everything the woman going to put her through going to be as much suffering? bash|9

"Hey you, c'mon," Lethalia prompted, swiping a gentle pet beneath Vay's chin. The hen's jaws opened at the sudden move, and the satyr clapped from a safe distance instead of reaching for those adult sized teeth. "C'mon, Vay! Play wit'me! Bash it!" Vay's hind paw kicked and clawed up clods of dirt, ears and head lowering in a recollection on how they'd been playing when she was smaller. Vay was younger and definitely not filled out as much as the more established hens Leth was accustomed to. This little shit could charge a lot faster than the woman had accounted for, the satyr hastily ducking out of the line of fire and more-or-less safely behind the dummy. Vay wasn't holding anything back, and connected with a solid thud upon the solid wooden dummy. It tilted onto one set of legs momentarily, before the bulk of the mattress pulled it back down to the ground. bash|10

Getting over her initial shock, once she was capable of it Lethalia crowed "Good bash, Vay!" and threw a chunk of meat for the hen. Now if Leth could try and not get herself bashed in by the time they were done here, that would be pretty great. Ivaylo devoured the chunk of meat and sniffed around for more. It was lucky for now the hen hadn't gotten the chance of hunting out of the stock herself, so she could still be brought meat morsels to help keep her behaving. A hungry sarane seemed to be a motivated one, after all! Feeling Vay's eyes upon her once more, Leth watched her ears laying flat as she puzzled out how to get more food out of the woman's possession. Maybe just chasing her down again? "No Vay," Leth hissed, as the hen's focus honed in on her once more, tail lashing as she geared up to take another run at her. Ivaylo lv|13 ly|13 bash|11

Being hissed at was enough to break Vay's concentration, shaking her head and minding the 'elder hen's' warning somewhat. What did the woman want, if not this?! Lethalia emerged from her cover once Ivaylo wasn't tensed up and ready to charge, pointing to the padded dummy. "Bash that," she directed, "not me."Frilled ears flattening, Ivaylo considered the dummy for a little bit longer this time since the satyr was so insistent about making noises at her about it. Anything to get her to stop. Just to make sure the woman knew she'd checked out the dummy, the red sniffled at it again with a pointed look at her owner. Well? "C'mon, Vay," Leth sighed, not sure what the hen's hangup was. Maybe the mattress was more confusing than helpful? It was worth a try at any rate. Not that hens naturally fought a lot, but wrestling with others as a hatchling might give her enough of the idea. bash|12

Lethalia walked over to the other side to push the mattress away from Vay, letting it flop nearby. She felt somewhat justified in the guess, when the hen flinched and looked surprised there had been a drake under there! The spines on her tail puffed out as her back rose, a low growl rolling through her before she realized the 'drake' wasn't moving. A cautious sniff and her bristling fell away - this was all wood, nothing drake. "Okay!" Vay gave a start at the sudden voice, still on edge from the near-drake sighting. Her tail curled unhappily as she regarded the woman, who encouraged again "Bash'im, Vay!"It was making a bit more sense now! Ivaylo had won so many games with other hatchlings, surely she knew how to win a game over some stupid tree shaped like a sarane! Humans did the weirdest things.. Ivaylo didn't walk up to the dummy with too much of a hurry, her shoulder-check firm but nothing... as devastating as it needed to be. Even when Vay started looking for her treat, Lethalia just stared back at her. bash|13

"C'mon, Vay, that sucked," Lethalia pointed out as the hen walked up to her with an expectant jaunt in her step. "No, not good enough. Bash it!" she reiterated, pointing at the dummy again. "G'on, bash'im," she told the baleful amber eyes, pointing again until the red skulked back off. Trying to muster any interest in doing this to an inanimate object, Ivaylo squared off against it like she had so many times when playing. Maybe it just needed to be more real to get the woman to leave her alone! Pretending like she could see a real play-opponent in the dummy, Vay gave a squeaky little roar as she charged at it, rolling her neck to the side at the last moment to bash into the dummy's broadside with her shoulder first. There was a strange glint in the sunlight, and the dummy toppled over as the red staggered to regain her balance. bash|14

"Good bash, Vay! G'job!" Leth crowed as she jogged over, a chunk of meat thrown before she set about propping the dummy back on it's feet. "C'mon, show me again baby girl!" Leth encouraged, pointing at the dummy. "Bash him!" More confident in what was being asked of her now, Ivaylo circled back around more willingly this time. Another true bodyweight-heavy shot was landed, knocking the dummy's entire weight off it's 'feet' with little effort. With a little more bulk, the hen would be a force to be reckoned with. She even seemed to be getting better at recovering instead of staggering along sideways with the dummy, which was even better! "Yay, Vay!" was cried again, with another good few chunks of meat doled out for that one. Ivaylo definitely knew what she was asking, and would probably do it at any target. But she wasn't sure if the hen really knew what a move like this would be for, but that was fine. She wasn't going after any real drakes anytime soon. bash|15 | 'bash' training accepted!

Lethalia hadn't been sure if the hen would remember these little beanies. Some sarane remembered more than others from when they were little - maybe the ones who raged out tended to forget more things. They weren't the only thing in the basket since she needed to dodge more than just faeron plushies in the end, but the thing she'd have an idea of what was going on. It almost felt deceptive, taking the hen on a nice walk in the warm afternoon sun before pelting her with random things. Since she hadn't gotten food delivered again, Ivaylo seemed to have already caught on that she was going to have to work for her food today. While she might be enjoying the warming sun, she couldn't wholly relax when knowing the satyr hid a large sack of meat and something else behind her back. It wasn't especially promising for her! Funny how fast they caught on to be suspicious of her. Ivaylo lv|14 ly|14 danger sense|10
