I'm curious! Do you use the official names of moves/abilities as canon, everyone-knows-this-name knowledge? Like how in pokemon, moves are referred to as they've been officially named. That one attack that uses the sun to charge up and spits out a laserbeam after a lil' bit? Solarbeam. Always and only 'Solarbeam'. No pokemon trainer makes their own command for Solarbeam, that'd just be weird.
Moves/ability on HxR are named and described, and universal between critters. A wiurn's 'Poison Sting' is the same as a salaves's, for example. So are the names/descriptions canon knowledge between characters, in your opinion? Or is this knowledge only for the players? Let me know what you think~
To me, the moves/abilities names aren't something I'd have a character openly refer to, but they do know what it is and might have/make their own word to call it by. So yes, canon and known by characters, but not necessarily referred to as officially named (and it wouldn't cause confusion if they were).

Personally I don't have my characters refer to the 'names' of the moves/abilities because it has made less and less sense to me for my characters to know that Info as I've gotten older. However, they do (out of necessity of having to train them/use them in battle) have names for the moves? Stuff like 'claw' would make sense being called claw, but some of the names I'm not sure if my characters would come up with a distinction for it.
It's a weird sort of dichotomy ground, because I refer to the moves/abilities with their name in my own POV/writing, but I don't headcanon my characters as knowing them/using them?

I dont RP as my character knows the names as written, but a lot of the moves I teach are basic in both name and function. Like, Ashe calls it "crunch" when its a stronger bite. Fly, barrel roll, dive, etc - basic words. Even danger sense, he might use because the pet "senses danger" but its usually referred to as instinct. Anything more complex than that with a fancy name, no he wouldn't know it. I cant think of anything I've trained that actually proves that though 😅

The names of the moves are just player knowledge, telling your creature to do the thing is more abstract.

I usually write it as Fiera having heard of this technique somewhere before that may be referred to as a specific thing, but she'll usually use her own word for it for the sake of training her pets. Like... idk... "living seed" is a very specific technique that I could see needing specific training guides to teach, but I can't imagine anyone using "living seed" as a command word, it's too wordy.
