While its keeper ran inside, the white, fluffy wyvern was left to its own devices. Even on its lonesome, it half-heartedly sprinted down the section of track to pass the time, feeling like it was what the leopard would've wanted. And so feeling that surprise and adoration when the man returned was very rewarding. [Alé.. You could've had a break], he told the creature, giving it a rub on its headplate. {Wanted work}, it quietly replied. A proud and satisfied smile spread on the leopard's muzzle, [Alright! Let's go again. This one will keep up now]. And with that, the whistle was blown - the two set off racing. The mammalian was now at the advantage with Papilio, no longer using his own power to attempt to keep up. But the exercise wasn't even for him, so fairness wasn't required. While the wyvern barreled down the track, tennis balls were tossed in its path. [Dodge them, Alé! Do not slow!].

The addition of the bouncy balls were almost startling at first, causing the beast to fumble its steps often at first. But as the short sprints were repeated it did dodge the impeding balls somewhat well. Most of the small obstacles simply bounced past or between the large creature's limbs. Some bounced off its wings. But a couple of lucky shots managed to catch under its wing-arms or rear feet, causing the occasional stumble. With the leopard's encouragement and praise, the added tennis balls ended up being more of a game than actual work, making this whole sprinting thing somewhat fun. Tiring, but fun. With the blow of the whistle, the creature was spurred to action yet again. And a ball was immediately tossed at its feet. It was unfair! The wyvern nimbly stepped over it and avoided the follow-up as well, surprisingly. "Good job, Alé! Keep it up!", the verbal encouragement came, laced with excitement.

Their last bout here in the gym went swimmingly, and the pair were eager to returning and continue their training. They'd even earned membership points! To train and knowing they'd done well enough to earn such recognition was thrilling. It wasn't much, but it was enough to get some poles to aid in their agility lessons. The two were situated in their training room, getting stretches in before getting to the actual meat of the matter though. The results of their previous training and practice were showing through in how comparably limber the beast was to before. Xentus was able to help stretch the wiurn's wings out further and hold the position longer. Alerios hardly complained about any kind of strain, having grown used to this. There were still limits, of course, but they were much harder to reach. Meaning they'd need to move on to something more intense to make any real progress.

But, the mammalian was in no real rush here. He'd taken their training slow and steady till now and he'd continue this way. (Say, how do you feel, Alé?), the man asked while holding down the beast's wing. The furred reptile quietly thought about it for a moment while eyeing the man. {Feels okay. Ready to work}, it told him, {How is keeper feel?}. It nuzzled the man's cheek, nipping at the long fur there to entertain itself. Xentus chuckled and gave its face a quick pat while moving on to its other wing. (Xentus is nervous, really. He hopes this effort will amount to something good), he told the beast honestly. This was all for a reason. To win. He was determined, but couldn't help but to feel that he could use more time to prepare, teach, and train.. Not knowing what they would face was one of the scarier parts.

In the previous tournament, he'd been up against other creatures with fresh training. Everyone started on the same ground, just as Mira had. But this time, anything that met the requirements were welcome - veterans and newbies alike. All his work with Alerios was fresh. He hadn't the motive to teach the wiurn prior to this.. But if they happened to face up against opponents more prepared, with years of training.. The thought was demoralizing. There was only so much he could do to be ready. And time grew short This would probably be the last thing they could do before battles began.. Still, he was proud of their progress in the given time. {Is going to be okay}, the wiurn tried to assure its keeper, feeling his doubts. It only enjoyed all this time spent with the leopard. To put these lessons to use sounded like a great way to make him proud.

Xentus hummed in agreeance as he finished with the wing-stretches and moved on to leg stretches. It was a workout for him to manually manipulate and pull on the beast's large limbs, grunts and groans escaping the leopard all the while. Twenty seconds on each limb, repeated five times. The reptile didn't need to exert much energy here, letting itself be pulled on and manipulated as much the man wanted. Sometimes, it did voice when the pulling went past its limit with a quiet grunt, but it endured the tolerable strain on its stretching muscles and ligaments. (Just a little more, then we'll go outside Alé), the mammalian told the beast on their last rep. He was honestly excited to use the poles. Such a simple tool had diverse uses; weaving, ground obstacles, leaps.. Then they'd simply focus on speed to enhance the wiurn's agility. It sounded like a good plan, and now with their stretching completed, it was time to put it to action.

The duo headed outside, greeted by a mild early morning. The sun had barely rose above the horizon, gently illuminating the wet dew in the grass. The mammalian took in a deep breath of that crisp morning air then led the furred reptile to an isolated spot on the field. The poles were set up for ground obstacles first. Something easy to work up from. They looked haphazardly scattered on the ground, but that was intentional. The wiurn needed to be sure-footed and steady, (Alright, Alerios, run through the poles without touching any), the keeper instructed after positioning the wiurn at the start. With the blow of a whistle, the creature was off, bursting into a bat-crawl sprint. The first run through was a test to see how the wiurn performed with these obstacles - and surprisingly wasn't too bad. It stuttered over a few particularly slanted poles, but recovered its stride and continued on.

(Not bad, Alé, but let us get through without mistake before moving on), he told the beast. Alerios seemed to be a little disheartened to not have performed perfectly on the first run, but was far from discouraged. The leopard rearranged the poles to have a random assortment of angles and distances from each other, then had the reptile try to run through again. Determined, the wiurn snorted a quick breath and took off again, running through the poles. Its normally awkward looking crawling gait was somehow more graceful than Xentus expected, flowing over the poles with fairly good accuracy. But again, there were a few points where it stumbled and failed to make its way through flawlessly. (Good, good. Turn around and come back now), the leopard instructed, giving the beast another shot at it before resetting the poles. The wyvern made a quick u-turn and barreled its way back through the maze.

(Focus, but be swift), Xentus encouraged, watching the winged reptile intently. Its eyes scanned the ground, trying to process what it saw as it came whilst running, then moved its limbs accordingly. Its wings were the most likely to land poorly and disturb the obstacles, and so it tried to keep its digits tucked in well to prevent dragging them. Seeing this, the leopard figured it would be good to have the wiurn do 2-legged runs as well. Being versatile in movement styles would do well for its athleticism. With that thought, perhaps he'd throw in an added challenge as well.. (Rise onto your hind legs, Alé), Xentus prompted it mid-dash. The creature's eyes flicked toward the man briefly before it pushed its upper body off the ground and continued on upright. It was a little harder to see what was directly underfoot in this stance, but the wiurn managed to navigate well enough.

This run through resulted in only a single disturbed pole - right around where the leopard prompted the beast to rise up. Not bad at all. With the added pressure of changing gaits somewhere in there, the leopard felt this exercise proving to be quite effective. Now he'd move on to speed and push for quicker movement. The maze was changed and the wiurn primed to course through it again. (Alright Alé, again! Start on two's this time, and push as fast as you can manage), the mammalian prompted, then signaled for the beast to go. The stress of the exercise was starting to build, causing the beast to pant for breath while it dashed through the course. Xentus waited for the best time to prompt the stance change, but leaned toward keeping the shift mid-way through the path for the best practice on both. (Down on four!), he commanded through their mental link.

The wyvern wasted no time making the shift. Walking up on two legs was energy efficient, but lower accuracy. On fours was taxing, but had better coordination. The maze made the exercise nearly as taxing on its mind as on its body. And the pressure for speed made it all the worse. It made a couple more missteps this time, but the keeper wasn't displeased with its efforts. (Good job, Alerios! You do well, lets take a break there, yes?), the man told the creature as it came to the end of the course. The flared nostrils and and panting was a telling sign of the growing exhaustion. Some rest and water was well deserved. The leopard beckoned the beast over to the prepared water bowl, which it was happy to take him up on. He ran his fingers through the wiurn's mane while it lapped up water, whispering gentle praise into the fur.

After taking a good five minute break, the wiurn was rested enough to begin again. Xentus took a moment to rearrange the poles, setting some upright this time to have the creature do light weaves. Spicing things up. The gradual increase in intensity only encouraged growth. Alerios was primed and ready to go, and on the leopard's mark, the beast began its short dash through the renewed maze. It started on fours then lifted up to twos part-way through. It was able to clear the maze effortlessly this time, not touching a single beam. (Yes! Great job, Alé!), the man praised through their mental link, (Keep it up, turn and go again on fours). He wasn't going to let it off just that easily however. A devious grin lifted the leopard's muzzle. Soon he's toss in some more challenge - literally. The wiurn had a strange feeling that something was coming, its eyes darting toward the man with suspicion as it ran the course.

Once it reached the end, it was allowed a pause to catch its breath. No missteps were made this time, making the leopard proud. And the clear time was fairly good! Or so he believed. He didn't really have a benchmark to compare it to, aside from the wiurn's own. (Again, do it one more time), the leopard encouraged once the beast calmed its panting. It started on twos, running between the beams with as much accuracy and speed as possible. Then the first tennis ball was thrown. The beast's learned perception for oncoming danger had it on the alert even at a time like this, allowing it to dodge the ball out of reflex. {! ! !}, the mental thought was felt more than heard, making the man chuckle. (Dodge and run!), the keeper now warned, throwing another ball at the wyvern. Alerios was up for the challenge, though the added difficulty did disrupt its focus on running without disrupting the poles.

The creature was prompted to turn around and run the course again, with tennis balls getting tossed toward it as the man willed. Alerios snorted with nearly every dodge, and grunted when struck. The sight was admittedly hilarious - Xentus couldn't help but to laugh. He couldn't keep up with keeping track of time like this, he was having a bit too much fun making the beast's training that much more difficult for it. With the last lap completed, the man recalled the wiurn and praised it for its efforts. (Ah you perform so well, Alerios. Good job, this one is proud of you), he hummed while stroking the exhausted beast's mane. (How was it? Had fun?), he teased, and received a playful nip at his dreadlocks. {Mean keeper}, it grumbled, {Fun. Tired}. The mammalian nodded and decided that was enough for now. A rest, perhaps some refreshing flight, then they'd call it good.

It's been some time since the leopard came to the gym. He'd been here with Alerios, getting him prepared for the tournament. He thought he'd bring the wiurn here again at some point, but until some new tournament popped up that suited the wiurn came around, it was likely he wouldn't put the beast through such stress. Now he had new goals in mind. Revolving around the most unlikely beast, too. A faeron. A small, cat-sized dragon. That he was going to (and already has) put in the line of danger before great beasts. He'd certainly come a long way from fearing harm coming to his precious pets. Sequinn was perched up on his shoulder, grey eyes darting around to absorb all the sights of this strange place. Strange equipment, strange people, strange beasts.. A shudder rocked down the fae-dragon's spine as it seemed to consider the possibility that it might need to.. Fight.
