Luckily his sword and dagger both did have some fire properties to it so when he was landing some hits they seem to do damage to the monster. More that it would have otherwise been if they had been just normal metal swords, at least. Kadin swung out at the monster with a slash, trying to hit it with his sword. He wanted to make sure to concentrate on the fire damage the sword was capable of. He wanted to do as much damage as possible to be able to end this fight quickly. He had a feeling that if this fight ended up going for too long then he would be at a disadvantage here. The creature was a lot bigger than he was after all, and he wasn't sure how long he’d be able to last in a fight of endurance with it. That was out of the question.

Plus there was a good chance that even after he defeated this one they would still running into more or different dangerous monsters later on. So it was dangerous to make this fight last too long. He wanted to make sure to end it quickly. He took another swing at the monster with his sword, keeping in mind that this fight should be fast, and followed that swing up with a stab from his dagger. The monster bellowed in anger when the attacks connected, swiping back at the human. It’s claws were long and looked like they were covered in bark and hardened over time. Kadin took a few scratches, wincing at how they felt, worried about what sort of sap or substances might be covering them. But he had to keep stabbing at it and keep fighting. He needed to put it down so that you would be able to move on from this fight.

And on to what would no doubt be the next one, since there were sure to be more fights after this. The monster clawed back at him with long claws that looked like they have been overgrown with plants. There was a substance dripping from them as well and one couldn't tell if it was natural, a poison, or something like blood. Kadin wasn’t sure if he could tell if it's a monster that was poisonous or if it would even be safe for him to touch it. But he still needs to get close enough to fight it. He didn't have enough magic to use his fire endlessly and, regardless, he wanted to save his magic to the end just in case they ran into something really dangerously wrong. So Kadin did his best. He fought against monster until eventually he seemed to score a good hit. It was limping.

He tried to continue to attack it in the hope it would eventually give up on them. It was a long and tough fight and Kadin got more than a few scratches in on the monster, but he took back nearly as many to his own person. He was bleeding from his left arm and his right leg by the time the monster was finally down. Mori came over swiftly and looked at the wounds, worried that they might be worse than they appeared.
“I'm worried they might be poisoned,” she said. “That things didn't look right. It didn't look like a normal creature.”
“I know,” Kadin replied.
Luckily, he hadn’t come entirely unprepared. He pulled out some potions he had brought with him in his bags. He applied the contents to the wounds, hoping that they’d counter whatever managed to get into his bloodstream. “I think this might help."

“I hope they're the right antidotes or will at least keep me going long enough to find whatever the fuck we need to find.”
“Language,” Mori said automatically. Then she grimaced. “Sorry.”
Kadin simply laughed and wrapped some bandages around his wounds before he got up. “It's all right, let's go.”
They continued on the path, keeping an eye out for monsters and other plant creatures that might try to do them harm. More things like the last thing they have fought kept seeming to appear the further along they went. It really was dangerous out here. Kadin wasn't going to dismiss what the quest givers were saying in the future if this was any indication of what these quests were going to be like. He also had remembered that he narrowly avoided fighting a giant monster that one ball that he went to not too long ago. That was pure luck.

Maybe Kadin needed to start bringing some stronger creatures with him to these things. But as he glanced over at Mori he knew that he probably wouldn't. She was pretty determined to watch out for him and he didn't really have the heart to stop her. They continued on, Kadin taking on the bulk of the fighting. He used his sword and dagger for the most part, still trying to save his magic until he really needed it to get out of a sticky situation.
It really was a good thing that both of his weapons had both acid and fire properties because they were hacking through the plants a lot faster than they probably would have been otherwise. They were getting further and further into the gardens, but there is still no real sign of what they had been sent here to get.
“What was it? Some sort of flower we’re looking for?” Kadin asked.

“I don't know.” Mori said with a snort. “You were the one who's supposed to keep track of these things. It’s your quest.”
Kadin sighed. What was the point of bringing someone who was actually intelligent and could speak with him if they couldn't help him remember what the hell he was here for? He's pretty sure they were looking for flowers, so they just need to keep going until they found it. They're probably going in the right direction since they kept coming across monsters to fight, but he was getting pretty scratched up at this point. He’d run out of antidotes and things before long and then who knows when all this crap he kept getting on him would eventually catch up with him.
He wouldn't mind fighting a few less monsters, if you know what I mean. Even so, he didn’t try for any stealth.

Kadin wanted to prioritize speed, trying to get this quest done as quickly as possible. As they got further and further in, they continued to be stopped here and there by plant monsters. When you are surrounded on all sides by a garden that’s full of plant monsters, it makes sense that you’d have a lot of fights with the inhabitants. And Kadin knew better than to try and be sneaky. The plants literally lived here, they’d be able to find him even if he tried. Eventually he just gave up. He up and started hacking away at the branches and leaves in the vines as they walked through. If everything was out to attack him here he might as well attack everything back, right? Mori did not seem to see the wisdom in that, but Kadin was going to do what he wanted anyway. So she just followed along.

She tried to stay out of the way of any branches and leaves whipping past while Kadin was hacking his way through the jungle of plants. She had been able to stay relatively safe so far as nothing had really tried to attack her yet, which Kadin was pretty pleased about. He was grateful that she wasn't harmed at all. After wandering around for who knows how long, eventually they came across a tree. The tree had flowers around the base and they both figured that it looks pretty promising. Kadin pointed it out and Mori agreed that it was probably their best bet for the flowers that they were supposed to find.
But they weren't so foolish as to assume that it was unguarded. As they approach the tree it started to move. “Shit.” Kadin said. “Is that what I think it is.”
It wasn’t an actual question.

“It might just be a tree that moves… it might not be one.” Mori tried to reason.
But of course they wouldn’t be so lucky. It had a face. It was what he’d been worried about. It was basically a tree come to life. Its arms moved up from the ground, waving wildly at the human and the harachiu. This was not going to be a safe flight. Kadin directed Mori to stay out of the way. He didn’t want her to get hurt in this fight. He definitely did not want her to get caught up in this. And he was pretty happy he’d saved his magic until this point, too. As he looked at the tree and how it was rooted so far into the ground, he figured that it probably wouldn't want to move that much. It’d be difficult for it to grab him from a distance.

Especially if it needed to spend a long time uprooting itself before it could come after him. If he could just get to those flowers and then get out of there, that was all he really needed to do. So he stood there, thinking for a little while, before he came up with a plan. He set a fire near one side of the tree in the hopes that it would distract it. Then he raced towards it from that direction hoping that the distraction of the fire would keep its attention off him for long enough for him to grab some of those damn flowers. It was heading over towards the fire, but it also seemed to want to go after him, so he quickly dodged out of the way and grabbed out, reaching out quickly to grab a handful of the flowers at the base. He needed to be quick.

He rolled away and got back to his feet, racing back to where Mori was waiting for him. They need to get the fuck out of here before that tree decided to uproot itself and come after them.
“Let's go!” Kadin said, waving towards Mori to encourage her to grab onto him or try and fly away or SOMETHING so she could move faster. “Go go go!”
Mori was right behind him, very much agreeing that they need to get the hell out of there. They raced back the way they had come. Of course, now that they had found the flowers that didn't mean that the route back was magically easier. There were still all those damned minor plant monsters scattered all throughout the garden, although Kadin didn’t mind running away as much from those fights. Especially now that he knew he wouldn’t have to worry about them ganging up on him later during the main boss fight.

He tucked the flowers safely into his bag once he could, hoping they’d be protected for the return journey. Luckily the plants didn't seem to know that they have been robbed. The flowers were safely away and, probably according to the plants, they were just other flowers in here, nothing species. So at least they had that going for them, they didn’t have to fight through an angry horde that were trying to get the flowers back. But that didn't mean that it was easy. Running along, fighting when they had to, using the last of his magic, and with many curses and much effort they were able to hack their way back out to the entrance of the garden. Kadin was covered head to toe and scratches and bruises from berries, thorns, and whips that had hit him through all these different fights that he had had to go through.

But at least he was alive and Mori was safe. That was all we could ask for. Now that they were out of the garden, the two of them could make their way back to the quest giver at a much more leisurely pace than they'd made it out of the gardens with. Kadin and Mori took their time, especially Kadin, considering how beat up he was. He didn't want to delay in bringing the flowers over, either, wanting to get this all over with so he could go home and have a nice, long shower and rest. He felt that if he didn't get it out of the way first he'd never come back again, not if he could help it. So they made their way back to the quest board so that they could get this over with and Kadin could take a much deserved rest to heal up.

One thing was for sure, he wasn't going to take another of these combat quests for a little while. They were just... a lot. He needed some rest after this. Eventually they did make it to the quest board, but of course the quest giver wasn't there at the time. Kadin and Mori had to drag their tired selves around to find them. Eventually they did, but not before a bunch of cursing and complaining from Kadin's part and quiet reassurance from Mori's. Once they found them, Kadin handed over the flowers and accepted his prize. He didn't wait around for any pleasant small talk after that, either, immediately leaving once he got what he needed so that he could take a fucking shower and crash. Maybe not in that order. ... No, he should take a slower first, he was covered in plant goop. That couldn't be healthy, he should really wash it off first.
