Ramal was just starting to feel confident finding his way around this city. One of the things that really got his attention was that huge arena in the middle of the city. He had checked it out, and he learned that people brought their creatures there to fight. It seemed a little intense to him, but he was really curious about trying it, since it was such an important part of the culture. The upcoming tournament was a 'Winter Wonderbrawl', and the only problem was he didn't own any creatures that qualified.
Another building her had come across a ton of times but never actually visited was the APAA. They let people adopt out creatures that didn't have an owner. That was perfect for his purposes, and most importantly, it was free. He cheerily wandered into the building with his list of eligible creatures and let himself into the back room where they were kept. It didn't take him long to find the biggest creature in the room: A Tundra Thundergug that slowly moved its head to watch him as he walked past.
"Oh, hello there!" Ramal said to her. She was a large white creature, and Ramal had to admit that she did remind him of the Tundra. Her species was aptly named, he thought. Sometimes creatures around here had totally nonsensical names, so he appreciated the straightforwardness. She was also huge, so if Ramal had to guess, she would probably do pretty well in a fight. He surely wouldn't want to face off against that horn.
"Hey, big girl," Ramal slowly reached out to see if she would let him touch her. She didn't move at all. Well, that would do, he supposed. He rested his hand gently on her shoulder and again she didn't even flinch. He felt absolutely tiny standing next to her. No wonder she wasn't shying away from him - she didn't have much to fear from a little guy like him.
"Hmm, I think we need some more space if we want to get to know each other," Ramal mused aloud.
Ramal looked at the enclosure the Thundergug was in, then he looked around behind him. There was a decent amount of space there. He assumed he could just have a walk around with the creatures if he wanted. He would just have to keep her out of trouble. How hard could that be?
"Okay come with me," he said. He flipped up the latch and pulled the gate open. He looked down at his hands and wiggled his thumbs. It must really be a pain not to have thumbs, he thought. Then again, he used to think that walking was a pain, but he had gotten used to it by now.
The Tundra Thundergug still did not move. Ramal frowned. She had to want to come out and play! He knew he would if he was all cooped up all day. "C'mon big girl, I think you can do it. Want to come play with me?"
Ramal looked around in the long grass to see if there was anything he could use to help his cause. There were a few well chewed balls and rope toys. They were really more appropriate for a smaller creature, but he couldn't think of anything else. He grabbed the toughest looking ball and brought it over to the gate.
"Hey there big girl, I have this for you, do you want to play with it? Look it's pretty awesome," he said. He bounced the ball between his hands and smiled. Finally, she was watching what he was doing. He clearly wasn't just going to go away, so she started to take notice of him.
Slowly, she walked out into the long grass and tilted her head at the ball. Nobody had ever offered one of those to her before. What was it? Was it food? She leaned in with her mouth open to take it from him and have a taste.
"Woaah," Ramal said. He froze in place, since he couldn't think to do anything else. The huge head of the creature came down and took the ball from his hands. Instantly, it popped in her mouth and let out a pathetic whine as the air escaped. Ramal couldn't help but to laugh, but the started Thundergug jumped back in fright.
"Sorry, I don't think that was such a good idea," he said. He was still pushing down a laugh. "Well what do you think, still want to take a walk with me?"
Ramal walked around the property with her and she really seemed to open up to him. At the very least, she was watching him as he moved around. He wasn't too picky, so he was happy to take her home. If they accepted the application, that is. He left her outside and went to fill out the adoption forms. She would probably be fine for a while, he thought. It didn't seem like she wanted to run away.

Twilight-Claw: I like this part "and would like to remind you that lost digit reattachment is a service offered at all Labs-Aligned hospitals within the city." of them a lot for some reason, I don't think many people go to that establishment a lot. x3
