Right, might as well get this over with she figured as she eyed the two Matronne. There was no way he was goig to win, but hey, at least they might get a few points and all that. Grinning, the woman pushed her hair back and then went into the arena with Heathen at her heels. The Houluh didn't look too intrigued by the whole thing, but hey, it was fine at this point she figured. They reached the center of the ring and she looked down at the disinterested Patronne and called his name, "Heathen!" The canine looked up at her with all of his attention at this point, knowing at this time they were going to get started. He didn't realize they didn't have a chance, but he wasn't that invested in the whole thing either really. "Bite!" she told him, pointing at the dummy in the arena. Heathen rushed toward it and bit down as hard as he could, then clawed at it as soon as she gave the command, "Claw!" Jack patted him on the head and then smiled a little, "Dash, Heathen!" He took off toward the other side of the arena quickly, and then dodged out of the way of a few balls from the pitching machine as she shouted, "Dodge, dodge!" The last of it, she had him come back to the dummy, "Headbutt now, Heathen!" The Houluh Patronne smacked into the dummy with his head and barked, narrowing his eyes a little at that. Jack smiled a little and gave a little bow before they moved out of the way. [Heathen shows off his Name, Bite, Claw, Dash, Dodge, and Headbutt]

She did not care for the mass of strangers, the way they bayed and slapped their paws together was deafening, their scents mixing into a mass of sweat and sickly-sweet almost-flowers that clogged her nose and would have sent her scurrying back. But her master walked before her, tall and proud, and she followed her just as eagerly as though there was a plateful of fresh murp waiting for her.
They reached the middle quickly, and her master made noises at the swarm of strangers, their noises dying as she spoke. Tin picked up little of it, thumping her tail as she locked eyes with her master, hearing her name in the sea of sounds her master had spoken. Another recognizable sound sent her scampering a few feet away, turning her head back to look at her master as she heard her name one more time.
Then her master pointed, and said, “Run!”
She knew this sound. Tin ran, paws slapping against the ground as she happily obeyed, running in a wide loop that kept her from ever reaching the noisy, smelly crowd. Ears flapping wildly behind her head, she panted as she pushed herself to move ever faster, willing to keep her paws moving until-
“Swim!” the next command was called out, her master pointing at a still surface of water that was closer to the center of the ring. She ran to it and then into it, forelegs outstretched as she dove into the water. Her paws struck against the ground, and a heartbeat later her head was back above the surface of the shallow pool. She swam towards the edge, wondering if she should turn to one side or the other when she reached it.
“Run! Higher!” With the choice made, she paused in her swim to let her hindlegs sink downwards, the water rising around her head. As her paws connected with something more substantial than the water filling her ears, she drew her forepaws up as she kicked at the slippery surface. For an instant she noticed the edge of the pool, just barely too far for her forepaws to reach even with her leap, but she had no need for such things like the ground when her master wanted her to run. Her paws hit the empty air, flinging water back down into the pool, the rest of her pulling free of the water as she started her run.
She ran higher than the ground, angling upwards as though a steep hill had invisibly planted itself before her, water flying through it to hit the ground. “Land!” Rising quickly, she heard the next command despite the water stubbornly clinging to her ears. The hill suddenly snapped downwards, and she rushed at the ground with the speed of a pup chasing a ball. “Higher!” Back up she went.
The master called out a few more times, and she crested several more invisible hills before finally being allowed to reach the visible ground. She was called to her master with a command she knew, leaning into the ear scratches she was greeted with while her master made more noises at the strangers. Then a few more quiet words for her as she followed her master away from the crowd, head held high despite the running she had done. Good dog. She wagged the whole way.
[Tin showed off Scamper, Run, Endurance, Swim, Higher, Land and Follow.]

It was finally time for the contest to begin. Kadin had almost given up after a certain point. It had seemed like it had taken forever for this contest to get on its way, he'd been waiting every day for the call to go through. But now he and Lux were in the arena and ready to put on a show. Kadin had plenty of time to plan out what he wanted to do for Lux’s routine. The first thing they were going to start with of course was going to be the simplest. He wanted to start by showing that Lux knew his name. That was always the easiest thing to start off with in a contest. Kadin called out, “Lux are you ready?” The houluh looked at him and tilted his head wagging his tail looking generally pleased to be there. With a grin Kadin said, “Well, let’s get started.” [name]

Kadin had set up the arena to his exact specifications. Of course, since this was the agility competition there was already plenty of stuff set up how anyone would want it for an agility competition. But Kadin has been sure to request plenty of stands for Lux to jump up on. He had also requested a lot of different hoops and weave poles for Lux to jump over and through and run through. He had also asked for wide open spaces as well so Lux would be able to show off how well he was able to run around. Now that everything was set up and Kadin checked over the arena he figured it was time to begin. Kadin started off by asking Lux to jump up onto a block. He pointed at the block and called, “Lux, jump up!” This was one of Lux's simplest moves, just being able to jump up.

They'd practiced it before countless times. It seemed to be no effort at all for the houluh to jump up onto the block. He turned around to face Kadin afterwards, tail wagging like mad, and ready for his treat and praise and next trick. Kadin gave him just that, or well. At least he gave him some praise, no treats just yet. They had a routine to get through, after all.
From the block Kadin called Lux over to jump into his arms. He called "Here, Lux!" And held out his arms. Seeing the cue, the houluh jumped over to him next. Lux happily jumped toward the human with a bark and leapt into Kadin‘s arms. His tail was wagging like mad the whole time. With a laugh Kadin bounced the houluh once, just to keep him on his toes, before he let the houluh back down onto the ground.

There was still plenty more for Kadin to have Lux's do. Now that they had demonstrated that Lux could jump over things and jump into Kadin's arms on command, the next thing he was going to ask was for the houluh to go back over to the same block he'd originally jumped up onto. Only this time? He wanted him to jump over it. "Lux!" Kadin called, getting the houluh's attention. Once he had it, he directed him to the same block once again and said, "Over!" The houluh jumped over the block, clearing it easily. Just from watching, you could tell he clearly had plenty of experience doing stuff like this and he very much enjoyed it. It was plenty clear why Kadin had chosen this particular houluh to learn all of these different moves that had him jumping all over the place. He was living for it all, the excitement of it!

Kadin called for Lux once again. The houluh quickly circled around the box to come back to the human's side, but before he quite got there, Kadin was kneeling down on the ground. This next trick, you see, was to get the houluh to jump over him. And while Lux sure could jump high, Kadin didn't quite trust him to be able to clear right over his head at this point. So with a smile, Kadin knelt down and called for Lux to leap over him. This command was very similar to one of the others, it really came down to the gestures for Lux to know what Kadin was asking for. "Lux, over!" He called. The houluh quickly rush to obey, jumping over the human easily. He was able to clear him just like he cleared the box. Well. As long as he was kneeling down, at least. Who knows if he could do it when he was standing!

But they weren’t done yet. Kadin quickly got to his feet once Lux had successfully leapt over him. The next thing he wanted Lux to do was to show that he could leap. And this wasn't just leaping like he had before, over and around different objects. Kadin wanted to show how well Lux could simply leap into the air, leaping all over the place like the crazy jumping houluh he was. So Kadin called for the houluh to, "Leap! Leap, Lux!" Lux knew how all different types of agility-based moves. He knew how to jump up on boxes, over boxes, over Kadin, around Kadin, and he also just knew how to leap as far as he could, just because he could. So when he heard the command Lux jumped up high, leaping into the air showing off how quick far he could jump. It was truly an impressive sight.

While Lux was trying to fly without wings, Kadin was already thinking about the next step for their routine. "Good, Lux!" He called out. He then jogged over to a hoop next that was luckily set up nearby. He wanted to keep Lux moving, to show off all of the great movement tricks and moves that he'd learned with all of their training. He called for Lux to leap through the hoop, next. "Lux, through!" Kadin called, getting the houluh's attention. The houluh ran to obey, running over to where the human was to jump through the hoops that he was standing near. "Good, Lux, through again!" Kadin called for him to run around the other way and leap through again. The houluh was clearly having the time of his life, leaping through the hoops even without Kadin prompting him to do it, doing all of this jumping. This was clearly what the human had trained him to do because he enjoyed it so much.

While Lux was having a blast jumping through hoops, Kadin was once again thinking of the next step. He wanted Lux to go through the poles soon, but he had a creative idea for what to do in the meantime. So next Kadin tried to direct Lux over to the weave poles. But this was the thing. As he walked over to the weave poles, he called for Lux to weave through his legs. It was a bit comical to see the human trying to walk while the houluh is weaving through his legs. But it was also pretty impressive that neither of them tripped over while it was happening. Especially since, after all, Lux was fully grown. It was a bit of a squeeze for him to keep going through Kadin‘s legs like that. But the human was taking long steps and the houluh just kept weaving through his legs, clearly enjoying this fun game they were playing.

At least one of them was having fun. Kadin was a bit worried he was going to step on Lux, all things told. He was doing his best not to, but the damn houluh was just so enthusiastic about everything he did that it was getting increasingly difficult to avoid. Eventually, they made it over. They walked over to the weave poles like that, Lux weaving away the whole time, and Kadin called for Lux to go through the poles next. "Lux, weave!" He said, no longer walking around and clearing pointing to the poles this time. It might have just been his imagination, but Kadin could have sworn that Lux looked a bit disappointed at the command. Still, Lux ran through the weave poles with a bark, running through them as quickly as he possibly could. He looked like he was having a great time running through the weave poles, even if they weren't Kadin's legs.

Once Lux came out of the other end of the weave poles, Kadin was ready for him. It was time for another trick he knew and this one was a favorite of them both. Kadin took off at a run once Lux was through and called out for Lux to race him. "Race, Lux!" With a bark of joy Lux, chased after the human. He seemed determined to catch up with him even though Kadin already had a head start (because he cheated). It was easy enough for Lux to catch up to him, however. After all, four legs beats two most of the time. Especially when it comes to a race. Kadin didn’t seem too discouraged once Lux raced ahead of him. He let Lux take a couple laps, getting that excess energy out of his system as he ran around the arena. He was clearly having a good time, and Kadin did hate to stop that.

But he did eventually have to call for him to do something else. This was a contest, after all. This time, Kadin called out for Lux not to do another trick. This time, it was an actual move that the houluh knew. He called out for him to dodge! "Watch out, Lux! Dodge!" He called out, getting the houluh's attention first. The houluh looked up just in time to see that Kadin was throwing some softballs at him. Thanks to the warning, Lux put on an extra burst of speed and dodged out of the way of the balls. He was able to nimbly dance out of the way and prevent from getting hit. Kadin called out, "Good! Well done, Lux." Before tossing a few more softballs for Lux to practice with. They had clearly practiced this move and Lux was able to dodge out of the way of the softballs, even when he wasn't expecting them.

Once Lux started to slow down a bit, Kadin stopped throwing the balls after him. Now that he had shown off his ability to dodge things that were coming his way, there wasn't much left for Kadin to show off with him. In fact, there was only one thing left for Kadin to show off at this point. And that thing was dash! Not only did Lux know how to dodge, he also knew how to dash around the arena or dash away from danger. So the next thing Kadin did was call for Lux to, "Dash, Lux!" The houluh, who had been slowing down a moment before, took off at a dash. All at once, he was once more racing around the arena. He was even faster than before! Kadin toss some more softballs to show that the Lux was running so quickly that they couldn’t even hit him. He was able to nimbly dash out of the way. And, with that, he called him back over. Their routine was done! [Dash] [finished]
