The next trick he wanted Elk to show off was one of the very first that Kadin had taught him. It wasn't anything especially fancy, but Kadin felt that it was good for when Elk wanted to get something from someone. And what else were they doing but trying to get more points from the judges for their performance? So the next thing Kadin was going to have Elk do was show off how well he could beg. He looked at the houluh who was looking back up at him, waiting for the next thing to do. Then Kadin gave him the command. "Beg, Elk!"
Elk whined a bit, then he lifted up on his hind legs, front paws dangling in the air. He looked up at Kadin with big, sad eyes and softly whined, begging for... something. Kadin didn't have anything for him right now, obviously, but he almost grabbed for a treat anyway.

Man, that was pretty effective.
"Ok ok, good boy, Elk." Kadin said, releasing him from the command partly because he just couldn't stand to look at those eyes anymore. Time for something else, that didn't have Elk staring up at him with THOSE eyes. Jesus. Next up Kadin wanted Elk to show off how he was pretty good at finding things. Especially fish sort of things, considering how much time they spent at the river. So Kadin held a cloth that had been covered in scent to Elk. The houluh sniffed at it for a while, tail wagging, before looking up at Kadin expectantly.
"Track!" Kadin said, nodding at Elk as if they'd just had a whole conversation about what he was supposed to do next instead of just a command. With a bark, the houluh got to work. He put his nose to the ground and started sniffing around everywhere.

He was clearly trying to find the scent of whatever it was Kadin had given him. With a look of satisfaction, Kadin followed Elk around as he sniffed around the area. He'd set up some obstacles and different objects so what Elk was looking for wasn't entirely obvious. The houluh took him all around the arena before finally ending at a small pool that had been set off in one part of the area. Elk barked and looked down into the pool, tail wagging and looking back at Kadin.
"Good, Elk!" Kadin praised. "Now why don't you catch us some of those fish?"
With another bark, Elk looked down into the pool where, in fact, some toy fish had been set up to intimidate real fish, just for the purpose of showing off this trick. Quick as a flash, Elk down his face down to catch them, showing off his ability to fish for his supper!

Kadin watched at Elk splashed around, shaking his head a bit at the enthusiasm. Elk kept bringing the fish over to him, too, and chose THAT moment to shake off his coat. Kadin was getting a bit... soaked. He rolled his eyes at the houluh's antics, but did nothing to stop him, really. Once they'd gathered all the fish, Kadin said, "Good! Now one last thing. You've gotta bring these home, right?"
He gathered up the fish and led Elk over to a nearby cart he'd set up for just this purpose. He tossed the fish into the cart and buckled Elk up, patting his (wet) side. "Good boy, Elk, now let's go."
And with that, Kadin led Elk towards the exit, houluh walking by his side happily as he dragged the cart with his fish behind them. They might have made quite a sight, after a messy (but cute?) performance like that one!
