The deer waited till the 'professor' was out before approaching the table. "his bedside manner is atrocious, but does know what he's doing. For now. lets get some fluids in this baby." she says delicately, pulling some instruments closer. And another massive needle, filled with what looked like formula. The deer's needle jabbed into the edge of its beakish face, on the inside of the cheek, delicately stroking its throat. She didn't frown this time but smiled as the liquid slowly went down and nothing came back up or didn't go forwardly down. Her own bedside manner seemed very motherly, Kristofor noted, as he cautiously let her do the job, still carefully stroking the creature's spine. Although it didn't move or seem to wake up any quicker, he had an impression the movements across its back were comforting, if not just for him. "Who happened to revive your baby for you?" He told her of the impatient 'important doctor'. 15

"Brilliant human, but impatient. Doesn't always remember to give the new owners what they need." she sighs nasally before going to a cabinet and opening it up. A few leaflets of paper, a few small tied off baggies and what looks like a cage for a hamster. "Information, some supplements to include with feeding for the first few weeks and a place to keep your new pet. It will grow a bit but if you want to actually see them reach adulthood, you need to bring it back to the museum. Can buy extra nutrients off the bounty store, where they sell orbaru and such." Kristofor nods. Hadn't specifically been there, but heard of it. There was a business card in the pile of smelly leathers left at his doorstep, for some reason. The deer continues to needle-feed fluid into the baby bird until its belly looks engorged, and stops. 16

Between the needle feeding and the pressure strokes along its spine, something must've worked, right? The little bird's head angled, although floppily, away from the needle as it is removed. Slowly, it wiggles a bit, tiny nubs on the tips of its barbed but still naked looking wings, curling its feet. The deer smiles, and Kristofor can feel the weight in his gut starting to dissipate. Blinking in the artificial lights, the baby bird's eyes are a mix between raspberry and tangerine for coloring, big for a bird, as most birds he's seen have tiny beady eyes. Bigger eyes meant predator bird? It looked him in the eye, and they held a gaze for a full minute before it opens its beak and gives a tiny birdy belch. He reaches his fingers a bit closer, but does not try to pet the bird further. Under the deer's watchful eyes, he waited. 17

Squaaaab... A strange noise that sounded like a strangled instrument came from the bird's beak. From what he could see, there were teeth in that beak. Carnivore, maybe? He'd never asked a hawk if it had teeth, or tried to find out. The noise stopped and it butted his fingers with its beak, letting them score over its beak where the nose might be located, getting a scent. It squaaaabs again and shuffles to straighten out, as its posture is horribly feeble. Carefully, the fox nudges the head and the body out so the creature is laying out on its belly instead of half twisted up, the legs folded beneath probably not neatly. It sighs and makes a contented sound, before going back to sleep, predictably. This time from a full stomach rather then whyever it had gone doll-floppy. The sound of footsteps, and the human arrived with a pile of papers in its hands. 18

The human looked from the bird, which looked a bit more lifely, to the deer with a sharp stare and then the fox, who had his paw gently stroking the naked back some more of his bird. "I administered some fluids and kept the specimen warm. It seems to have done some good, as it woke up and started making noise and making small movements." she states, sounding very official. Perhaps a tech vs a scientist? The human grumbled, and shook the paper out when she points out the 'starter kit' she'd prepared for the fox and his baby fossil bird. 'The counts are low, so it will require quite a bit of supplement to get back to the initial starting point. This isn't a vet's office to keep the animals past the initial reanimation cycles, so the care will have to be administered in your home." the human told Kristofor sternly. 19

He had to wonder to himself if the local doctor of the woods, Mrs. Badger, had ever had any birds as patients. the fox decided he'd write to her and find out if she had any advice. Probably if she had bird patients, baby birds were also something she'd worked around. For he had next to no clue. The 'professor' handed him a paper file marked 'flitisaur - 23', with the notes inside. "This is called a health file. Its kept for animals that go to the vet. If we were an actual vet, we woudl keep this. But this is for when you take your animal to an actual vet. She here will tell you how to administer your supplements. Good day." 'Kind human.' the fox grumbled as he watched the human leave and close the door. The deer made an expression of pulling her lips over her deer teeth and nodded. She explains on how to crush up the different supplement pills and mix a precise amount into the bird's food. Water as often as it wants, and keep it warm. The pamphlets woul help. 'Have you seen any glass orbs rolling about the city?' he asked. Yes, she had. To check around the old Workshop near the Underground, the old glassblower typically forgot his products near the creation point. 20 -fin
