Tytal kept being surprised by her boldness. It made him want to push a little bit more each time, just to see how she would react. He wouldn't do that, though, because the point of the get together wasn't to annoy each other. It was to make friends, at the very least. Once they were best friends, though? The bets were off! He would be able to annoy her constantly. He found himself grinning slightly at the thought, and quickly straightened his face when he realized that she might be able to see it.
She couldn't leap as far as he could, which he had expected, but somehow he was also expecting something... a little more graceful. Weren't those feathered Draconics agile flyers? Well maybe that was just his uncle, and not all of them were like that. He decided not to worry about it.
"This is why we need to be over here," he said. He gestured to the spot on the rock next to him and made a space for her to stand more comfortable. Though she would have to stand pretty close to him for them both to be up there.
"Do you see? Here, in the water, behind the rock, fish will hide here to get away from the current for a moment." He pointed at the water with his large pink claws.

Oh, why did she get the feeling that he was laughing at her again? She carefully shook the water off her paws while she spared him a glance, huffing a little to herself when he wanted her to move to yet another place! On top of a rock this time! Well, she certainly wasn't going to back down at this point, so she leapt up gracefully onto the rock next to him, seemingly having no fear or reservations about standing so close that their wings brushed together. She looked down where he was pointing out, eyeing the spot where the fish were supposedly going to be, before looking back over at him, curious again. She crouched down a bit and crept closer to the edge, trying to better see down into the water.
"And how are you going to get them?" She looked back at him, eyes curious and open before she tilted her head with a slight smile. "You'll have to demonstrate, of course. You've done so much to instruct me on catching fish so far, but I'm not sure I'll really 'get' it until I see it in action." Was she doubting his abilities? Well. That'd depend on if he actually caught a fish or not, naturally.

Okay. They were touching. Tytal suddenly felt a little less cocky than he was a second ago. Did he like her? For real? She was pretty tough, and she was such a good sport with all of his antics...
Fish. They were fishing. Tytal looked down into the water and watched one particularly lazy fish float around near the sand at the bottom of the river. Could he catch it? That might impress her, so he had to try. Plus, he had been making himself look like he knew what he was doing, and he'd hate to prove otherwise...
"Well, we don't have a net or anything..." Tytal said. Also Nomi always just grabbed them with her water magic. Which he couldn't do. He had to go for the claws. Or the fangs, but they had already proven that was a bad idea...
"You just have to go for it," he said. Was he convincing her, or himself? He watched the lazy fish float around in the lack of current, then shot his claws into the water to grab it.

She actually huffed when he started to sound like he was going to make excuses. Myst eyed Tytal for another moment before gracing him with yet another smile, asking innocently, "What happened to just sticking your head in the water and going for it...?"
The more he hesitated to show her his own methods to get the fish, the more she was beginning to expect that he'd just been trying to impress her all this time. Or maybe he was playing a joke? She wasn't sure how she felt about either option. Trying to impress her was... good, right? They'd decided together that they were going to hang out, even if this was supposed to be awkward because it was an arranged date, but... had he changed his mind?
Oh! He actually went for it! Myst jumped back a little when he claws shot out at the fish, surprised that he was actually trying! Even though she'd been the one to encourage him in the first place.
"Oh! Oh careful, grab it grab it!" She encouraged gleefully, watching with anticipation to see if he'd make or fumble the catch! (although she was a little disappointed he hadn't gone for it with his head again, haha)

This is where the illusion had to fall apart. The truth was, Tytal had no idea what he was doing, and Myst was about to learn that fact quite dramatically.
Tytal's claws caught the fish's tail, but to his surprise that wasn't enough. The fish was slimy and faster than anticipated so it slid out of his grasp with a huge cut on its side. He pulled his hand out of the water, and dunked it back in again. Perhaps the second time he would be lucky enough to get it.
His claws wrapped around... well, something, and he yanked it out of the water in a hurry. In all of the commotion, he stretched out his wings and slapped Myst on the side with them, but he didn't even notice. The fish jumped from one claw to the other, then flailed dramatically on its way back down into the water. Ultimately, it got away and swam off to become... someone else's lunch.
"Welp," Tytal said, leaving a pause to consider what he should say next.
"I lied."

He- he...
Huh.
He really didn't know how to fish after all, did he? Myst was learning this fact of life rather suddenly and, erm. Violently? She watched in shock as he clawed at the fish, only for the creature to slip away, somehow, having not been grasped well enough to actually pull it from the water. Then, the next thing she knew, he was going for it again and slapping at her! She was so surprised and NOT prepared to be hit today! She was standing too close, too, so she couldn't avoid it! She scrambled on the rock, not having had much room on it to begin with, and with a soft yelp one of her hind feet slipped and splashed into the water. Luckily, she was able to save herself from falling in entirely by flapping her own wings, probably stirring up quite the breeze right next to him, all while the fish just... swam away.
"Goodness." She said, breatheless, while she steadied herself back on the rock. She stared at him, something like disbelief in her eyes, before she couldn't help it anymore. She ducked her head, hiding entirely behind her wings while she broke down in laughter, not even caring if she might bump into his wings and side a bit while she shook with the force of her laughter. "Oh my- my gosh-" She couldn't breathe. "That was- truly- amazing, I- I can't-"
Helpless with it, she just. Crouched there on the rock, giggling. Eventually she composed herself enough to look up at him over the edge of her wings, but that was a mistake. She just lost it again, hiding back behind her wings while she giggled some more.
Truly. Breathtaking.

Generally, Tytal avoided doing any work that he didn't absolutely have to do. Most of the time, this also included fishing. Even when he went along with others, he would volunteer himself to hold a net or something. If by 'expert fisher' he meant that he knew where to place a net where it needed little attending but was also successful, that was true. He just had no idea how to do this whole with-his-own-two-paws thing and was honestly expecting to just fake his way through it until she was impressed.
When she started laughing, he wasn't sure whether to be relieved or mortified. It was good that she wasn't angry with him for accidentally shoving her, but she was also clearly not impressed by all of his bluffing. He sighed and tried to interject, but she just kept laughing harder and harder.
"Oi," he said. He flopped down onto the rock and covered his face with his paws. He never was going to live this one down, now was he?

Oh goodness, oh my, she really needed to get herself together! Gosh, this was so rude of her! Her giggles slowly died down as she tried to compose herself, hoping that she hadn't just ruined everything by being so very extremely rude to her friend. He was probably getting sick of her laughing! But it wasn't at him, really, truly, it was just... Everything! She hadn't been able to hold it in anymore! It was just so funny!
She took in a deep breath and let it out, finally mastering her own body, enough to look over her wings at him once again. She smiled, this time, but managed not to laugh! That was progress!
"I'm so sorry." She breathed, lowering her wings, finally, to lean down in a slight bow to try and apologize properly. "I don't know what came over me! That was an excellent attempt, really, I just. Hm. Lost it?" Myst giggled nervously, tempted to hide behind her wings again for it, but managed not to get into another laughing fit, at least.

So far their get together had gone surprisingly well, so he didn't want to write the whole thing off now. He had worked too hard for that. Or he had not really worked at all and just gotten lucky. Whatever the case, he lifted his claws off his face and straightened himself up to wait for her to stop laughing.
He sighed and said, "Nah, it's alright. I probably deserve it." He had, in fact, lied to her about how to catch fish and that he was particularly good at it. It had to catch up with him eventually, but he hadn't been expecting it to be so dramatic.
"It was exciting, though, right?" This time he laughed, finally finding the humor in his own situation. At the end of the day, whether or not they stayed friends, at least he had a fun story to tell. No doubt the fish would get bigger and bigger in every iteration, too.

She giggled again, a short little cut off thing that ended with her shaking her head, looking at him fondly. "That it certainly was. I need to thank you for such a lovely time. I'd been so worried coming here, not knowing what to expect, but you've put those worries at ease."
A little cheesy? Yeah, for sure. But she felt as if it needed to be said. Never let it be said that she hadn't been raised to be polite (after laughing at someone for several minutes straight). She turned back to the water, watching as the river moves in a deceptively lazy fashion around the rocks, and eyed the fish that seemed to be coming back towards the rock to rest in the slower moving waters.
"I imagine fishing is something that would take a lot of practice to be good at, anyway." She looked over at him, mischief in her eyes. "I'm sure you'll work hard to improve your skills, hmm?"

If Tytal could blush, he would be. He felt like he had forgotten the fact that they were technically on a date until that moment. Did she really like him? He was flattered by her statement and glad that he could make her feel more comfortable.
"No problem," he said warmly. He readjusted himself so that their sides were lightly touching. Was that flirting? He didn't know if he'd go that far, but it was what he wanted to do in that moment. So he did it.
"You know, you're going to have to practice too." He watched the fish dart around in the water and mentally cursed how fast they were. Everything worked out alright, but he still would have preferred to look like a champion by catching one with his bare claws.
"So that next time, you can show me how it's done." Next time? Was that presumptuous? He watched her reaction carefully to gauge whether or not he had overshot the mark.
