Was Jack acting a little weird? Nina was concerned as she saw Jack reach into the cart. She wasn't usually one to stumble over her words like that. Of the two of them, Nina was far more likely to awkwardly mumble to herself. What the heck was going on? She listened intently, in case there was anything in the ramblings that was really important. It sounded like she was talking about a...
"Oh!" nina said, finding herself staring at a pair of bright pink wings that belonged to Sarane Whelp. "Well, hello there, I hope I didn't cause you too much trouble," she said. She had heard the creature whine, after all. Was it hurt?
"She's very cute!" Nina said. "I love pink."
Nina wondered for a brief moment why Jack would bring a Sarane into the mines. Wasn't this a bit of a dangerous place for a little whelp? Well, she was sure that Jack knew what she was doing. She was just so focused on learning how to mine and paying attention that she missed the part about the little pink-winged creature being for her.

"Oh good," Jack breathed a sigh of relief and then froze again as she glanced down the way at Goran. Hmmm, Nina had missed something hadn't she? Perking up a bit, the woman thrust the whelp at her friend with a bright smile, "Great! Here you go then! She can even fly with you when she grows up and all that! If... you like that kind of thing, I guess? I don't know if you're interested in flying, at least...?" Hmm, she was stumbling again and she shook her head before grabbing her pickaxe again and swinging it against her shoulder.
"I mean, if you'll take her, that is, I have so many that when she was born I figured she would be perfect for you and all that..." she said, toeing the dirt of the mine floor with a foot, glancing down a little sheepishly because she wasn't sure now if this was the best idea or not.

The realization of what was happening came all at once. Jack was offering her the hatchling as a gift. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise to her, since she had done that before, but it was all a bit much to take in. She paused for a moment, as she often did when she didn't know what to say. Jack frequently made her feel that way, increasingly more often as they became better friends.
"I, ah, well, ah... thank you, for thinking of me. She is very cute," Nina said with a nod.
"What do you think, little one?" Nina asked, looking at the hatchling. "Do you want to fly with me some day?" she flicked her plasma wings back and forth a little, more as a reflex than anything else.
"What can I ever do to repay you for your generosity, for ... all of this," Nina said. Jack had taken her mining, given her gifts, everything, and with a smile on her face the whole time.

A laugh escaped her as Nina took the hatchling and she started digging against the wall again, swinging the pickax against it to try and get what she could out of the mines. Glancing over at her friend, she was pleased with how things were going for them as friends, and she felt a little... off still. Oh well, she would figure it out later she supposed. "Oh really don't worry about it! I'm happy to help someone out, especially a good friend like you," Jack told her, glad the dim light of the mines made it hard to see what she thought was a blush come to her cheeks.
Goran grunted and eyed the woman for a moment before looking at the TROD. He was exasperated about her lack of knowledge with this kind of thing, even he knew what was going on. Or at least he thought he did. Whatever though, let her figure it out. Jack looked over at him with a raised brow but shook her head, whatever was going through his head, she probably didn't want to know.
"Oh hey, I don't know if you knew this, but I have a Preserve for breedable animals, Natural's Preserve. I'm thinking of closing it down though, haven't really had any visitors or donations... thinking of shrinking it down to something else, but I don't know what just yet," she finally admitted with a bit of a frown.

Nina listened to what Jack had to say, but in her head she was already coming up with ways to pay her back. Whether or not Jack wanted it, she would do something nice for her! As soon as she scraped together the funds, and... well it might be a while, but she was determined to do it.
"Why don't you rest here, little one," Nina said. She gently set the hatchling back down into the cart among the tools and things, careful to place her somewhere that looked comfortable. Then she gently nudged the cart into place, wedging the wheels against a rock so that it would stay there and not run away. The whole time, she had one arm wrapped around Pango, who could not be more happy about the whole thing.
"Oh, you have mentioned it, yes," Nina said. A pang of guilt hit her about never having visited the place. Jack seemed so proud of it way back when they first discussed during a breeding. "Oh! Would you like help, ah, fixing it up, or working on it, or... anything really? I have some experience, ah, with the Zu, I could help you!"

Goran dug something out of the wall and rolled it to the woman after a moment of looking it over himself. He was pleased with the find, and knew she would be too when she saw it, even if she didn't have a direct use for it anymore as of right now.
Jack looked down at the stone and picked it up with a smile, she could feel the magic coming off of it. She held it out to Nina, "Here we go, first find! It looks like an order crystal if you're interested in keeping it? Your first find in the mines?"
Glancing at the ground, she scuffed her shoe against the dirt and shrugged, "I mean I can honestly use all the help I can get, I'm not too good with things like this it turns out, and while I think it was a good idea to begin with, no one else seems to. Ah well, you can't win 'em all and all that." Thinking for a bit, Jack finally perked up a little bit as well, "I've always thought about opening up a public garden and butterfly area with my butterfly Pachee though?"

Nina didn't quite recognize the crystal as Goran passed it to Jack. It wasn't until Jack said it aloud that she realized what it actually was. A magical crystal. She knew of their existence, well enough, but wasn't too familiar with their use. When Jack held it close to her, her head began to buzz and it made her uncomfortable.
"Ah, no, you keep it, please, I wouldn't... know what to do with such a thing, and plus, you've done so much for me already..." Was that the truth, or an excuse? Maybe both.
Nina was happy to change the subject. "Oh, I know some things about gardening," Nina said. Though that probably wasn't the part that Jack needed help with, she realized.
"I think that would be really beautiful," she continued. She thought about a garden filled with butterflies and winged Pachee. The idea was pretty in her head, and it made her think of how much she liked hanging out with Jack. She couldn't wait to get started!

Jack frowned a little and watched Nina for a few moments to gauge her reaction but then simply shrugged and tucked the crystal away into her bag in the cart. She didn't mind, she supposed, though she did wonder why Nina seemed uncomfortable around it. Hmm, maybe she would learn someday, but she wasn't going to pry about something like that. "If you're sure! But I insist you take the next stone we find, fair?" she said with a smile.
"I'd love to see if I could make it a reality, but I have a feeling I'm not much one to run things," she said with a little smile as she shouldered the pickaxe and then swung it against the wall again with a little laugh. It didn't bother her though, she just liked to know where her strengths were. "I mean, just a place to hang out and appreciate things, I have butterflies of all colors and both genders of Pachee as well, so it should at least be nice to look at," she said, tilting her head a little as she thought, "Do you have any ideas for it?"
