Show Ring Ends: April 23, 2021It is safe to assume that there is a field set up for your houluh to do it's work in that is set up for any job you can think of. If something is missing that you need for your demonstration, the staff will go get it for you. Feel free to use anything within reason in your set up to display what your houluh knows how to do for their job. Please remember to repost your houluh's image, loyalty, levels, and stats in your first post, and put all of the moves/abilities/tricks your houluh does in the post in brackets or parenthesis at the end of your post/s. The one with the most points will win the Maestre di Marq and become a Salonne Show Champion. Participation prizes are earned points only. Remember that a houluh with a Maestre di Marq can never enter a Salonne Show again.

The Day of the show ring's ending almost came upon him, and simply because keeping the curtains drawn while sleeping threw off his sleep habit for a night after relentlessly trying to work at night with his other creatures. Yawning, Kristofor noted the time, a beat passes, then realizes what day it is. He flies out of his bed, getting himself and Dawson, who danced happily at his heels as if it were a game, except for the sheer panic on the fox's mood. It doesn't look good to run in late, he tries to compose himself right outside the building before entering and joining the line for the showers. There's polite applause from the watchers around them as a human with blonde fur sprouting long from their head introduces them. A loyalty salonne, show how much you and your creature have bonded huh. At least thats how he understood it. Since nobody else had gone up, he went first, signalling for Dawson to stay for him offstage. "This is Dawson." he says to the crowd, before crouching and tapping two fingers to the floor. Dawson bounds onto the stage, the lights dancing over his brushed fur and the glints of his collar. [displays stay, Come, nonverbal]

pov swap! "I do not know how many watchers remember us, but a word, audience, before we begin. I have not trained my hound with the spoken word, for the most part. We work mostly with hand signals, like such. View our work with open eyes and open mind." I inform the audience, tall and proud. Pride. Pleased. Dawson's tail wags madly as he looks about at the multicolored audience of color and smell. Mostly smell. "Dawson" Called for? He looks to me, and I see the look of happiness in his brown eyes. Twisting my paw, I guide it upwards as he sits down, eyes on my paw. He can smell it, the small square of jerky I have palmed against the soft pads of my hand. Carefully, I guide my paw downwards and he follows, eyes all for his prize to laying down. He gets his treat, with a thumping tail and I can't help but feel warm with pride. He's come so far from the tiny puppy given to me last Spirit's eve. [Name, sit, lay down, all but name is nonverbal]

"Dawson is not a cowardly animal, as I've seen some dogs become around this area when confronted with the unknown." and being a carnivore, the typical idea I had in mind, wouldn't work. Signalling for him to stay, I retreated, and fish something out of my satchel. Its a black bottle, about hamster size, full of...smoke? The hound's chin rests on the floor of the stage, watching me work. Finally, I stand, and signal for him to come to me. He gets up, shakes, and starts coming towards me, but I can see the curiosity in his eyes as his gaze wanes toward "No, Dawson" and snaps back to me. I nod, back up further, and signal for him to come to me again. He trots over, and I scratch his ears and praise him with his snack. As he passes over the bottle, it sweeps a tiny smoky scythe out at his legs. The bottle rocks as a result. walking back over with my hound, I let him look briefly at the thing, as it swings again, but he noses the bottle flat on its side. The scythe vanishes and whatever's inside wiggles helplessly. Sneeze. Good. Very good. Usually something like this could be considered a scary sight for some, like Mira. [Repeat Stay, repeat Come, No, accept scary sights, all but no is nonverbal]

"Can the lights be dimmed briefly?" I ask the staff who are manning being able to grab anything that we may need. They nod, and wait being asked to do so. "If you are afraid of the dark, or have creatures ill at ease of it, please bear with us briefly." On the signal, I ask the staff to dim the lights to three quarter mass. Its quite shadowy. The hound's nose is all on my paw. Curious? Dark? Sleep time? I pat my hound gently and remove a ball from my satchel. The squares of jerky are just large enough to fit into the larger hole or two on the ball and I fit a few inside, then place the thing on the ground. Its not completely dark, so he can barely see it, and instead of getting nervous over the lack of light, puts his nose to the ground and sniffs for the ball. When his nose touches it, it rolls away, leaving trace smell of jerky. All the audience can barely see is the sound of rolling plastic and the loud snuffling smelling of a hound. "Raise the lights gradually please." I ask... and the lights slowly come back on. The ball has almost reached the edge of the stage when Dawson finds himself in light again. "While I have not worked with him exclusively at night, darkness isn't fearful for Dawson." [accept darkness and search, untaught]

Finally, I signal for him to follow me. Ball? The hound looks at me, clearly still wanting to play. Ball later. Bit more work. Resolute. I try to get across to him. It'll be time to play after. He follows me, making a ring or two around the stage, the bottled scythe forgotten. Finally, I guide him up to a raised portion of the stage, and signal for him to stay. Carefully, I rearrange his limbs into a more squarely fashion, like I'm grooming him again, making fake motions of brushing with my free knuckles over his back. He feels relaxed as I check his paws, the angle of his head, straighten his ears, and handle the tail. A gentle hug around his middle, and the hound leans his head around to put his nose right in my ear. ACK, thats cold. The audience chuckles a bit. Amusement. He knows I don't like cold things in my ear, the little houlou imp. "To finish our routine, I have taught Dawson how to manage to get loose if he's ever caught by a predator for any reason. I do not own any predators at this moment, but I want to be prepared in case." Frankly, the only predator would be the houlou himself, because the tailypo is too small, and the bird is just a baby bird. I give the houlou a hug around the middle, with just enough of a grip on his fur to pull. Dawson likes hugs, but he doesn't like his fur being pulled on. Its a different spot then last time, I had to check it to make sure it wasn't bald, which it isn't. Its just a bit short. He wiggles forward, then steps backwards out of my grip, leaving me with an amount of brown hairs. He gets a big square of jerky for it. I bow, Dawson watches me, and sits down before I lift my paw. He remembered what I did last time, clipping his collar on so we could leave. It was done. Collecting my props, we leave, and I let him have the ball to lay down and try to roll about to get the jerky squares out. [follow, tolerance, Loosen Fur, repeat sit, all nonverbal] done

She didn't expect to win, though she knew Genie wouldn't be upset about winning or anything. Chuckling, she patted her on the head and sighed for a moment before stepping into the arena, glancing down at Genie for a moment before shrugging a little and starting things off. The lights dimmed and Genie was instructed to run for a long time, showing off three things, running, her endurance, and her nightvision in being able to avoid all obstacles in the arena the woman had placed around the area. That was... all she really knew, unfortunately, but that was fine, they were putting on a little show and then things would be fine. Another shrug escaped her and the woman bowed for a moment to the audience, the Houluh doing it in turn as well after a bit, even though she didn't know how to do it on command, she had seen her master do it several times to people around her. That meant it had something to do for things, and the Houluh barked when they were done. Of course she would have liked to do more things, but they hadn't had a chance to do more training just yet, she knew that for sure.

Well, it was time yet again to make their way into a show ring and show off everything that they knew. Kadin wasn't going to waste too much time, this time, doing anything fancy or crazy. He started off by asking Elk to stay by the entrance. Then he walked into the arena and, once he was sure Elk was doing a good job following his instruction, called him to come to him. Once that was accomplished he called Elk's name to demonstrate to everyone that his houluh did know his name. Next up was to ask him to beg, since he wanted to show that, too, and get all the easy stuff out of the way first. Next Kadin walked over to a cart and called Elk to come to him. He set up him to pull the cart and walked around the arena with Elk following him, showing everyone he could pull the cart just fine. Then he detached Elk from the cart and asked him to track down some fish. Elk tracked the fish over to a pool that was set up in the arena and there Kadin had Elk demonstrate that he did know how to both track the fish and fish out of the pool. Once everything was shown off, they were done.
