Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Some of the excitement of the tournament had certainly worn off by this point. The last opponent hadn't shown up. Avander had mused that they must have been too frightened of his prowess to show, which Noa had humored - though there might be some truth to it, it was just as likely that they had been forgotten instead. Not everyone prioritized the Pit; there were plenty who only signed up for these tournaments on a casual basis.
Noa wasn't the only one who couldn't stifle a yawn as they walked into the Pit this time around though. Even Avander wasn't up to his usual posturing. To say he was in low spirits would have been a bit of a stretch, but he was certainly on the more indolent side of complacence today.
Noa gave him an absentminded pat, then went up to find his place in the stands to wait.

Well, to say that the last battle had been disappointing would probably be a bit of an understatement. Kadin had been looking forward to testing Alba's strength against that of another thundergug, but their opponent had never ended up showing up. With a sigh, he led his 'gug into the arena once again, hoping for a more challenging opponent this time, only to get an eyeful of a wiurn already in the arena. Huh. He let Alba in and made his way up to the stands where he'd be able to better see the opponents. Alba was eyeing the flying lizard warily, and probably for good reason. That wiurn looked like he could do some serious damage. Kadin leaned against the railing, contemplating the fight, and wondering, for the first time, if Alba would actually be able to win this one. Her opponent looked like he was actually trained up for this.

Notes
- Avander cannot use Stalk
- Alba can use all moves and abilities she knows
- Avander's Hardy negates Alba's Intimidation
- Avander goes first due to higher Dexterity

Normally it would have been exciting to see a Thundergug, but after their experience with the last one and its... overly optimistic owner, Noa wasn't sure whether he could expect much from this one either. Looking at it, he rather decided he wouldn't. He'd been in the business of training creatures for combat for some time, and even Grunty had taken on a certain bearing after reaching a certain point. This Thundergug didn't seem to carry itself with that kind of mindful caution.
"Pounce and freeze," Noa said. They might as well open with something big, even if it wouldn't quite be enough to take out the 'Gug in one go. Trained or not, their biggest asset was how hard they were to take down. But an untrained 'Gug likely wouldn't be able to retaliate against Avander's nimbler strikes.
Avander composed himself, settling into a crouch, then leaped at the opponent, maw open with frost building in the air around him.

Hmm. Shit. His initial instinct seemed to be right. That wiurn wasn't starting off with anything simple and straightforward. Hell no. He was going right out of the gate with a two move combo that Alba sure couldn't compare to. Kadin sighed to himself and leaned back in his chair. At this point, it would probably only be a waiting game to see how long it took it to take Alba down. Well. Might as well be annoying about it.
"Roar, Alba." Kadin recommended, watching as the thundergug shot him a glare and stamped her feet, clearly upset at not being ordered to charge right in and attack the other creature right away. Instead she stomped again and stared it down, lowering her head and eventually letting out a loud bellow that was sure to intimidate her opponent! Assuming that it actually. Did anything. Kadin was sure it was only a matter of time, but at least this fight would be more of a learning experience for him than all the others.

Calculations
Avander uses Pounce + Breath of Winter! Avander's Dexterity of 8 + 2 rolled by staff = 10 vs. the 4 Dexterity of Alba Avander will deal the most damage possible! Avander's Stamina of 11 + 10 damage of Breath of Winter = 21 21 - 6 Resistance of Alba = 15 Alba's Tundra Dweller negates 2 damage = 13 damage Alba's Stamina is now 7
Alba uses Roar! Avander's Danger Sense activates, he will skip his next turn!

Avander had gone up against Thundergugs before - sparring matches with Grunty, and then his opening match in this tournament - so he wasn't surprised when this one didn't go down even after his attack. He disengaged as quickly as he could, putting a little distance between the opponent and himself, a resonant rumbling growl emanating from deep within his chest.
But the other beast wasn't quite as ill-equipped as Noa had thought; its handler had had the sense to teach it to roar, at least. There was nothing either of them could do. Noa watched as Avander winced at the noise, waiting for a sign that the Wiurn was ready to take another command. Until then, all Noa could do was stand by.
But, well... Avander was no 'Gug, but he wasn't a pushover either. And once he got his bearings back, they could retaliate, and hopefully end the fight there.

Kadin winced for Alba once that attack landed. That sure looked like it did a number on her. He hoped that she might be able to actually land a hit before it looked like this wiurn was going to take her out, but he wasn't going to hold out too much hope, probably. It seemed like this wasn't going to be their fight, it wasn't going to be easy like the others where he just needed her to land one hit and she'd win. Instead she needed to be able to a hit at all and that wasn't looking super likely, since she was looking much worse than the wiurn. Still, there was hope. He called out the command for her to try and bash at her opponent in the hopes that she could do something that way. He figured that they'd prpbably lose this, but there was nothing wrong with trying nayway. At least it was a challenge.

The Thundergug came crashing toward Avander with all the force of... well, a Thundergug. Even though they had seen the like before, it was still nothing to sniff at, seeing one throwing itself at you like that. Fortunately Avander recovered enough of his wits to duck out of the path of his charging opponent. The ringing in his ears was wearing off, and he was ready to strike back again.
This next blow ought to end it, Noa thought. There were plenty of things he could ask Avander to do, but it was easiest just to keep things simple. "Crunch," Noa said.
Avander obliged. This battle was more of what he was used to - no strange strategies, no use of the skills he had learned only after coming into his new... form. His teeth still worked the same, and it was an easy, natural thing, to launch himself at the foe and bite down.

Ah, damn it. She'd missed. He'd hoped that, since she'd used roar, the next attack would be able to hit, but it seemed like this wiurn was one of those creatures that was better at dodging than most. Kadin swore quietly under his breath. He'd already figured that they'd lose this fight, but he'd sort of hoped that they'd at least get a hit in before that happened. He frowned down when he saw the wiurn shaking itself out of the previous distraction and resigned himself to the loss. But Alba wouldn't go down without a fight, not if he knew her.
"Bash, Alba." Kadin said again, watching as the thundergug snorted, clearly annoyed at having missed earlier, and changed at the wiurn again. She, at least, didn't already know that the wiurn was faster and she probably wouldn't be able to hit it before it hit her. She would try to take it down regardless.

Calculations
Avander uses Crunch! Avander's Dexterity of 8 + 9 rolled by staff = 17 vs. the 4 Dexterity of Alba Avander will deal the most damage possible! Avander's Strength of 10 + 6 damage of Crunch = 16 16 - 6 Resistance of Alba = 10 damage Alba's Stamina is now -3
The Thundergug put up a good fight, but was no match for the Wiurn. She goes down and the Pit crew rush to tend to her.
Results Avander gains 2 levels and Noa gains 5 pit prize points Alba gains 1 level and Kadin gains 3 pit prize points
