Fiera held her hand out for Briar's clipboard as well, ready to hand them both in. "Leave you be?" She scoffed. "Well that's boring. Live a little, yeesh." She said, leaning over to look at him better. "What about... mysterious. Everyone loves mysterious, and it means they don't get pissed if you try to scurry off somewhere. You're not doing half bad with that scarf. Everyone likes a nice, dramatic scarf. But I'd go for a long jacket too. Something where you can pop up the collars, they'll flap around dramatically in the breeze. Looks nice on someone your size too." She rambled.
Meanwhile, Skyler found herself mimicking Loki's actions, also lifting her foot up and down in an attempt to follow his lead when "playing". She waved her paw at him more vigorously... before accidentally hitting him in the face with it with her newfound enthusiasm. She yelped as if struck herself and turned away, apologetic.

As Fiera leaned in, Briar leaned back. He had absolutely no desire to be the subject of any closer scrutiny, and this conversation was backfiring on him pretty quickly now. -I'll keep that in mind,- he signed back, searching for another subject to take the place of this one.
-Do you have a lot of Houluh?- They were here breeding them, and she seemed to have more knowledge about the... what? The industry? Than Briar did. The form that Briar handed back was penned in painstaking but passable Common. At least it no longer looked like a child's scrawlings.
The yelp yanked his attention back around to the Houluh. Loki made a sharp, startled noise, not quite a yelp himself. He backed away, ears back; he hadn't been expecting a fight, but now that this had happened, he looked as though he was preparing for one... only to be confused again when Skyler turned away.

Skyler let Loki get his distance, but then looked back at him. Maybe she could make it better...? She leaned in and tried to lick at where she had hit him apologetically, whining softly. Hopefully he would forgive her.
Fiera happily took the paperwork, glancing over it. Yeesh, his handwriting was atrocious too. Still, she gave it back to the receptionist and got their breeding room number in turn. "Let's see... room eight." She said, turning to walk toward the double doors that led to the back rooms. "Oh, I sure do!" She said happily. "Not as many as I'd like though. I'd like to be the name to know in houluh breeding, not just some shmuck, you know?" She continued, nodding. "Still, I have a few ongoing projects. Like this!" She said, nodding at Skyler and Loki. "I'm hoping to get more puppies with Skyler's lovely golden color... though I suppose we'll have to wait and see what we get out of this."

Skyler's body language made it clear that she hadn't meant to hurt him, so Loki relaxed after a moment. He nudged her, then ran off a little ways before turning back to see if she would follow. Chase wasn't one of Loki's favorite games, but Joker liked to play that way; Briar figured Loki must have been taking a page from Joker's book here.
-She does have a nice color,- Briar signed, following Fiera to the room that they had been assigned. -Why do you want to make a name for yourself breeding them?- Ostensibly it was for the fame, or the attention, or something like that; Briar couldn't relate, but he could at least imagine. But it seemed like a good thing to ask anyway, and maybe he would learn something more about the Houluh... breeding scene that he didn't know about before. Pretty likely, considering how little he did know.

Skyler happily nuzzled further into Loki, glad he wasn't mad. When he invited her to play, she happily got up to follow him. It looked like she had managed to make a new friend somehow! What an interesting day this had been.
"She is a very nice color!" Fiera said, nodding. "And why, fortune and fame my dear! Isn't that what anyone wants? To live a stable, comfortable life? To be loved by the people around them? Sure I might have botched some chances at that before, but the only direction to go from here is up!" She said, nodding. "Isn't that what you'd want?" She said, glancing back over her shoulder. She didn't know much about Briar, but she was pretty sure fortune and fame weren't things that would appeal to him. Though... anyone could appreciate the thought of having a secure place to sleep and food to eat, right?

Briar kept an eye on the two Houluh, but it seemed as if they were getting along okay for now. It had been a bit of a rocky start, but he probably wouldn't have to worry about anything untoward happening in this breeding... right?
As for Fiera's answer to his question... -Sure,- he said, to be agreeable, but privately he didn't know if it was that simple. Not for him, anyway. Her optimism wasn't something he had in great quantity, though then again, he probably wasn't suited to that kind of thing anyway. He didn't know about fortunes, but fame was definitely not something Briar wanted. With his circumstances, it was more likely to be infamy that found him, if anything; and he was actively working to avoid that right now.
Still, it was definitely easier now that the topic was something other than himself. -I wish you luck,- he said.
