Jinx was a little nervous, approaching the alter. She had been here once before and everything had gone smoothly, but she may have been a little more numb back then. Now, for some reason, she was nervous and a little twitchy. Perhaps it was the subject matter; last time was for a water element, which she was familiar with and loved. This time, it was for tainted dark magic, which she didn't handle except for dealing with Ashe's pets. But she had a job to do and she was going to do it. As she approached, she took the time to admire the pictures inscribed, finding new stories in them that she hadn't noticed last time. She thought they were quite lovely, and traced the lines with her fingers, delicately. She couldn't waste too much time here, even if her nerves begged her to procrastinate just a little bit longer. The quicker she did this, the quicker she could go back home and not worry about it. So she turned from the pictures and started the climb.

The climb wasn't the hardest part, she found. She let her mind wander, and in its journey, it returned to what was known, what was comfortable. She thought of home and the Equillion she cared for there, day after day. She thought about returning to them, mucking out stalls, the usual life. She was intrigued by magic, though some of it was a little too dark for her to desire involvement in. That was certainly Ashe's forte. He was great at it, and probably could spend his whole life in darkness. The psycho.
She reached the top of the steps and saw the figures seated. Their robes made out of a blood red material. Their gaze disapproving and judging, and just a little bit threatening. Jinx didn't like them, didn't feel comfortable near them. Perhaps if they talked, or changed emotions even once, but they seemed.. Unnatural. Immovable. Like immortals trapped in stone forever. She supposed it wasn't the easiest job, being a speaker for a god.

The alter waited before her. She took each step with careful measure, feeling a heavy gaze on her. She had a feeling it wasn't even just those three speakers; it felt heavier than that. Maybe the gods themselves? She didn't ask, she didn't acknowledge, she simply pressed on. She reached the alter itself and placed her items. Each crystal seemed to hum in her hand. Was it the magic inside, barely contained? Or was it because so many of these powerful items were gathered together in one place at the same time? She placed each one carefully, in a circle as best as she could. And then she placed the round mind crystal in the center, as if it was art class and she was making the node herself. She pulled the berry out next and gazed down at her work. Everything seemed to be there, in its place. Only a couple of things left to do, and then all she could do was hope.. Or pray.

Trying not to think of the pools of blood, in various stages of drying, Jinx held the berry to her mouth. She was grateful that the blood didn't seem to be smelling up the place. She might not be able to focus as well. Already, she was feeling heavier pressure on her, the presence of... what even was this? The remnants of hopes and dreams? Remnants of magic itself? Or the presence of slices of souls, the chunks removed to be placed inside the nodes? Echos of the past, amplifying her present. She closed her eyes, as if blocking it all out would help, and placed the berry inside her mouth. She kept her lips tightly closed as she chewed with purpose, then swallowed in one gulp. She felt a little better now, like she was protected. This berry would heal her from whatever damage awaited her in the next few moments. The scary part was she couldn't remember what it felt like last time. Hopefully she would forget this time, too.

This part was the hardest. She touched the dagger laid out before her, trailing a finger down the blade. She wasn't scared of her own blood or anything, but the process of hurting yourself enough to draw blood that would drip over so many items, that was the challenge. She took a deep breath, steeling herself, and held the dagger to her wrist. She drew the sharp edge across quickly, clenching her teeth as she did so. Blood welled up and started spilling over the side of her arm. Quickly, she moved it over each item laid out, letting a drop hit each crystal. When the blood would slow, as clotting quickly tried to work its own magic on her shallow wound, she would make a fist and squeeze until more dripped.
And then she was done, each item touched with her own life. She clutched her wound in her other hand, helping to stem the flow, and dropped to her knees. After a few seconds of pressure, she pulled her hand away from her wrist and clasped them together, praying to the gods for this to work, for her efforts to have been fruitful.
