A trip to the quest board would be easy enough with Lincoln in tow. Normally she tried to avoid it when taking her pets on a walk, as getting roped into a quest by a bystander could lead to them getting dragged into potentially dangerous situations. This one though? Fiera was sure Lincoln could take anything a quest could throw at him. The real trouble was getting him there to start with. Lamadidron weren’t exactly “take on a walk” critters, no matter how badly he needed the exercise. Indeed, the humanish had to practically drag him down the street. Which was a task and a half, considering he was massive, mostly made of rock, and incredibly stubborn. Fiera was wheezing with exhaustion by the time she saw the quest board. Maybe there would be something easy to do? Or if not... boy, maybe they could just go home instead. Lincoln 22.1/24.1 1

As they approached the quest board, Fiera breathed a small sigh of relief. There was no one standing there today- she and Lincoln were on their own. For whatever reason, people loved just standing around the quest board to get help instead of, you know, actually posting a quest on it. It was a lot harder to say no to a person than a note, and as a result Fiera had been dragged into many a sticky situation by people bawling all over her. She considered it poor etiquette to say the least, but it didn’t look like she had to worry about that today. “Let’s see what it’s got, eh Lincoln?” She said, giving a brief tug on the lamadidron’s leash. He huffed loudly but plodded along slowly behind Fiera as she approached the quest board, scanning it for anything good that Lincoln could manage.

She kept looking, and finally a little note caught her eye. Looking for... a mouse catcher? She glanced back at Lincoln. Well, he was no mouser, but Fiera could probably manage it. Weren’t mice supposed to be scared of cats and people? Fiera was both of those at one, surely it would work! Besides, it was the only thing here that wasn’t either babysitting (she hated kids) or hard labor (she hated work). “Guess we’re going to the farm, then!” She said cheerily, tugging on Lincoln’s leash. Maybe he’d be put in a better mood when he had something nice to eat... like the farmer’s hay. They could consider that part of the payment along with the quest points. After a few tugs she finally got her lamadidron going again, trundling down the path. Soon the pair was on their way to Misaa avenue.

While the journey was uneventful, it quickly became clear when they had arrived at the farm. The name of it was the same as expected, and the rolling fields and barn looked just as Fiera thought they would. “I guess we’re here, then.” Fiera said as she pushed open the gate and stepped through. Then, she heard a distant voice. She wheeled around for a moment, looking for the source. Then she saw a figure in a field waving at her and shouting. That was probably the farmer. “Hey!” She called. “What’re you doing? Who are you?” She said, starting to approach. “I’m here for the mice!” Fiera called back. The figure stopped and tilted her head, baffled. Right, she probably should clarify. “You know, from the quest board?” She called back. “Oh! Go right ahead then, don’t let me stop you!” The farmer replied before going back to work.

“I guess we’re good then.” Fiera said to Lincoln before heading toward the barn. It took a bit of shoving to keep her copper lamadidron from nipping at the budding corn, but soon they were in front of the barn. The humanish grabbed one of the wide doors and swung it open- only for a mouse to run across her foot, with another one skittering in another direction. Fiera hissed loudly with surprise and anger, watching as the little creatures scampered away. Lincoln sniffed after them, curious about the new creatures. “Jeez, she wasn’t kidding!” She murmured to herself. If that was just from opening the doors, she didn’t want to see what the inside of the barn looked like! But... she had to look, didn’t she. Fiera let out a low groan of disgust and pulled the door open more, peeking inside to see the extent of the infestation.

Piles of hay were heaped inside the barn, as expected. It didn’t seem to be the sort of barn that held animals, and instead was more for storing spare supplies and tools. Hoes, rakes and shovels were lined up along one wall, along with more tools that Fiera didn’t recognize above them. The hay was the main focus though, and it was... just covered in mice, practically writhing with rodents. Fiera resisted the urge to gag at the choruses of squeaks that reached her ears. Individual mice were cute. On the street, at the pet store. She liked their big black eyes and petite whiskers. But swarming like this, like a hungry, furry wave? It was a little upsetting. And now she had to figure out a way to get rid of them all. The humanish pinched the bridge of her nose “Why didn’t I bring anything with me?” She scolded herself.

Just as she tried to figure out how she was going to do this however, Lincoln shoved his head in past her... before shoving the rest of his body in too. “Hey! What do you think you’re- oh, whatever.” She grumbled, knowing full well that she couldn’t stop him if she tried. He was one of the most stubborn little bastards she had ever met, after all. “Are you happy now? You wanted to be in a barn? Great job buddy.” She said sarcastically as he sniffed around. Then, when he noticed the hay, he settled in to eat it. “Wh- hey no! Come on, Lincoln!” She said, running up to him to tug on his leash. “She has enough damn problems with the MICE eating all her stuff, she doesn’t need you doing it too!” Fiera hissed, yanking as hard as she could, but she couldn’t separate her pet from the pile of food.

Fiera sighed loudly as Lincoln continued to stick his head into the piles of hay, pulling out mouthfuls of the straw and slowly chewing on it. As he did, the mice slowly closed back in on him, only slightly spooked by the larger creature’s intrusion. Indeed, they soon returned to their feasting as well, with Fiera looking on helplessly. In fact, the mice hardly seemed to notice Lincoln at all now that he had laid down, and swarmed across his back and around his front feet. Fiera... would have to give him a bath when they got back. As their fear faded however, their boldness grew and soon one ran up and plucked a piece of straw right out of Lincoln’s mouth, shoving it into its own before running away. The copper lamadidron stared at it in shock, surprised that such a little creature could dare to be so bold.

As his rage built up however, the stillness of his head encouraged another mouse to run up and snatch even more food from his mouth. Fiera started backing away, realizing what was happening. Even she couldn’t get away with pulling food from his jaws without serious consequences. Sure enough, Lincoln began making several low honks and thumped his tail against the ground ominously, but the mice took no notice, not recognizing the threat as they continued to swarm. Fiera went ahead and slid herself behind the barn door as Lincoln’s temper continued to flare, until he began to produce sparks that arced off of his body plates, connecting with the ground. A few mice ran as they got shocked by the static, but the remainder continued their feast as the lamadidron tensed up. “Aw geez, here we go.” Fiera muttered to herself as the electricity increased in intensity.

Sure enough, it continued to build up until he finally let it loose in a huge, thunderous crackle, arcing across the barn. Fiera slapped her hands over her ears as a peal of thunder boomed throughout the farm with deafening volume. Half the mice were blown backwards by the blast and immediately squealed in panic, fleeing the barn through any exit they could find. Fiera watched in awe as every last one of them left the barn, clearly not wanting to deal with THAT anymore. Satisfied, Lincoln went back to his meal. Fiera glanced around- it looked like his lightning was loud more than anything. Nothing was charred or burning, though the air did smell of ozone. She poked her head outside of the barn again, only to find the farmer standing by the fence. “...Everything alright in there?” She asked. Fiera simply gave a thumbs up in return. “Consider your mouse problem solved!”
