It had been a while since Morgan had been out with a houluh whenever they had decided to go out and bring Selene to a show again. She'd been a couple of times now, or at least Morgan thought so. Things kind of blended together outside of work more and more now. They were a little surprised whenever they were contacted for a breeding with her after the show! How long had it been since they had went out to do anything other than work for a while?
Too long. Still, they were a little anxious. They'd met this person before, but that still didn't mean that Morgan liked doing social activities much at all. Still, they could enjoy the parts of this that were so enjoyable- like the walk on the way there! Selene was as sweet as ever on the walk there, and once they stopped outside the building (to make sure that the individual they were meeting hadn't went inside already) they took in the bright spring sunlight and cool breath of fresh air while Selene sat in the shade nearby.
It wasn't too bad, yet.

Despite being the shy sort, it was difficult for Nadia not to get excited about a houluh-related excursion. Her typically reserved nature was being pushed aside - there was one thing on her mind, and that thing was puppies. A little crude, if all was told. Even so, she approached the breeding centre with a bounce in her step, and Inky at her side. “Morgan, Morgan...” She mumbled her associate’s name to herself as she looked around. It would be their second meeting; she had felt that they were kindred spirits of a sort, last time, because neither of them seemed very comfortable socialising. That was fine by her. They’d be able to foster an understanding based on that mutual unease. “Ah, I see!” There they were, and Inky’s partner was most beautiful. His tail began to wag the moment they drew up to the pair. “Good day, Morgan! Your matronne, she is striking!” [2]

Selene had a dark pelt overall, and it tended to cause issues when she sat directly in the sun. It was most of the reason why she was so vehemently sitting in the shade of the building they were near while her human was standing in the sunlight. Oh, to have a pale pelt like her human did! Or at least less of a pelt, like her human did. She was enjoying the slightly persistent breeze though. She opens her mouth- to pant.
Morgan keeps an eye out. They had a slight itch for a smoke but of course would never smoke near their beasts- or a building like this one. It didn't take long for the individual that they were meaning to meet showed up though. Nadia, of the Bloomwood House. They caught sight of them about the same time as the other individual caught sight of them- so that worked out easily enough. Morgan raises a hand in greeting- what were they supposed to say now? "Hello." Nice, good job self. Then, and quick nod. "She is." Rather matter of fact, but who could blame them? "He's just as striking t-t-though. His pale coat... How do you keep it clean?" Morgan asks, figuring that they ought to start this off as friendly as possible. Socializing was hard.
Selene watches the other houluh as the Patronne arrives, her nose twitching as she takes in his scent. He was quite handsome- and he must be relatively cool in that coat! She was a tad envious, but it did not diminish her excitement to see him.

Ah, it was much easier to speak when there was a shared interest. Though she was still shy to meet their eyes, Nadia smiled in earnest, one hand resting on the crown of Inky’s head. “Thank you very much! I... I do try to keep up with my grooming for him. I work him hard on the estate, so he is in frequent need of bathing,” She said. “Plenty of shampoo and a good comb do wonders.” It was as if he knew exactly what she was discussing, because Inky turned away in favour of staring at the matronne. Bath time was a boring subject when there was beauty to be appreciated! His tail wagged all the faster for a positive response from her, and he whined, soft in his throat. “Hold a second, boy,” Nadia cooed. “It is a wonderful day, but might we venture inside? My skin, it doesn’t fare so well in the sunlight.” [4]

Morgan felt comfortable without having to look in people's eyes. Of course they did so when the time called for it- namely whenever someone needed to be glared down, but for now, Morgan simply focuses their eyes on a small clover flower that had defiantly poked up above the otherwise well manicured grass around them. Me too, clover- me too, Morgan thought. They nod, listening- though it is always easier on them to split their attention when it comes to social situations to keep from being anxious. "I see- it is difficult to keep s-Selene clean. She loves to roll in the mud when I 'ent lookin'." They said, enjoying the way that the little clover flower bobbed up and down.
The whine caught Selene's attention from the human's rhythmic noises. She understood to some degree the noises the human made, perhaps that was about normal for domesticated canids. Not that she understood well, or ever would. Her ears perk up as far as an incredibly long and heavy set of ears could, and she responded with a lowering of her head, and a few thumps of her tail that were perhaps reminiscent of how her father tended to react to other houluh. For once, she looks almost shy.
Morgan nods, looking up and in the vague direction of the other individual, but not piercingly or threateningly. "You're right- honestly, m-mine neither. Of course n-n-not as bad as it could be." They gather Selene with a hand wave (follow) and then they hold the door open for their guests- though Selene scoots in first.

It made Nadia smile, to hear of Selene’s mischievous exploits. Weren’t houluh all the same sweet, cheeky pups at heart? Her pack had a wide variety of temperaments but she could always count on them to have similar basic traits. They brought her a tremendous amount of joy and comfort. Inky was the first through the door, keen to get closer to the new matronne. She was pretty, that was for sure - his nose wiggled as he sniffed in her direction, doing the houluh equivalent of not coming on too strong. It was funny to watch him showing any kind of restraint. “Thank you,” Nadia said to Morgan as she entered the building, and she offered a more subdued mumbling of greeting to the receptionists. Only the paperwork to fill in before they could go to the room! “It has been... ah, a little while, since we last spoke. How have you been faring?” [6]

Morgan's houluh tended to be pretty mischievous on average. Of course it was because they tended tended to be the descendants of Nico, and that was one special houluh. Even if Morgan did have to say so theirself. Selene took a lot from her father, even if she took more after her mother in other ways. She really was quite special. As prim and proper as any princess (especially now that she was older) yet still more than willing to get down and dirty. Literally. It really could be troublesome, but Morgan couldn't stay mad at her for long.
Selene was keeping an eye on the Patronne. She was already at least somewhat impressed, but she wanted to make sure that he was a good choice before she took it any further. She dips her head, her body still angled away from him- and she looks in faux-demure fashion over her shoulder. Her long tail was held level and royally- and her pale blue eyes caught the light as she looked at him. How would he react? Might he want to play? She slowly begins wagging her tail in that lazy slow fashion that suggested play.
Morgan simply dipped their head, and then came in afterwards. It was a habit, if nothing else. They remembered their father doing to for them as a child. They would begin work on the paperwork as promptly as needed. Ah yeah, it had been a moment- hadn't it? "Yes... I am-" busy with work- no, no don't talk about work! "Quite fine- hoping to have a small amount of time for hobbies s-s-s-soon. H-how about you?" A grin. "Anything going on?"

Nadia's scribbling on the paper was almost automatic. Goodness knows she'd been there a handful of times, and was rather familiar with what detail was needed. Still, she made sure to double and triple check, especially when it came to the details about Inky. You could never be too careful. Inky was captivated. Such a beautiful matronne, and wanting to play with him, too! It was an honour. There were some girls at home, but Indie was like a sister and Hael wouldn't look at him twice. He was going to leap at the chance to get to know her. His upper body bowed low and his tail began to wag. "I'm glad to hear it. Ah, not so much, not so much," Nadia mused as she handed the form back over to the clerk. "I have several puppies to work with... and yet here we are. I suppose I can't help myself." A touch of the bashful was in her expression as she gestured toward the hall. "Shall we?" [8]

When it comes to paperwork, Morgan feels like perhaps they could do it in their sleep. Sometimes they woke up from dreams of endless paperwork. In some ways, it was troublesome. In others- it could be relaxing. It was repetitive work, and Morgan found solace in repetitive work, if nothing else. They'd rather be bored than stressed overall. Morgan steps up to finish the paperwork theirself, immersing theirself in the work to help relieve some stress. It was over quite quickly.
Selene seems very pleased that the Patronne is interested in playing- of course he would never be prepared for her own rough and tumble playstyle! Was anyone, really? Selene considered herself quite well traveled at this point, so she was able to just barely contain the urge to jump on the Patronne. Instead, she leaps up and does a bit of a pounce on the floor, twisting around in a circle in a mock tail-chase. Are you read for this?
Morgan clucks their tongue, giving Selene 'the look'. "Selene, w-wait until we get into the room please." Even though she didn't exactly understand the words- Selene understood the tone. She chills out, but still wags her tail with gusto. At least Selene seems excited, Morgan thought!
The bespectacled human can't help but give a slight chuckle. "I c-can't say anything, s-same here." Though this would be Selene's last breeding at least, so Morgan wouldn't be able to drown theirself in more puppies anytime soon at least.
Morgan turns towards the hall, looks down the hall a bit more than they do at their acquaintance, and then nods. "Certainly- uh, Selene-" They say, and then they give the hand signal. Selene reluctantly follows Morgan down the hall and towards the room.

Nadia marvelled at Selene's obedience. It wasn't like her pups were unruly, but she could see that Morgan had a great bond with their houluh - Inky trotted along after his new matronne friend with his tail wagging fiercely. They didn't have far to walk, with the room being close to the reception, and she ducked into the open door with a smile. "Here we are again," She mused as she looked around. The furnishings were basic, but she found a kind of comfort in that. No need to worry about some tussling houluh ruining anything expensive. "How many puppies do you have now, if that isn't too invasive a question?" Well, now that they were in private... it was time to play! Inky spun around on the spot and gave an excited bark, trying to signal that he'd love to get started. He hadn't a clue about how boisterous Selene would be.. [10]

The human felt quite lucky today. Though Selene was normally quite mischievous to say the least- she was on her best behavior today (perhaps having puppies had calmed her down? or perhaps it was her own father's influence in showing her how to behavior). The bespectacled human is mostly preoccupied with watching Selene and nearly bumps into the doorframe, but manages to not entirely bruise theirself on it. "Oh-" Morgan says, a little surprised. That was embarrassing! They sheepishly go into the room, hoping to move past the embarrassment as soon as possible.
The rooms generally tended to be quite similar! Morgan feels like they've walked into a very cozy nook, despite the somewhat clinical nature of the Breeding Center. Morgan liked the sterility of it. The question does catch them off guard- but not in a bad way. No, it made sense to be asked it. Morgan nods as they answer- "Ten- all at varying stages of growth. I uh, p-probably need to work on that." At least they had staff to help care for them- it wasn't all them. "How about you?" They ask in return. It is only fair!
Selene was as prim and proper as she could manage- until she get into the room. She spins around in another circle, and then stops with her hind end in the air and is bowed in the front. She was hardly in this position for long enough to really be seen before she decided that it was a 'good enough' invitation- and then she quickly leaps forward- perhaps with a little too much energy and drive behind her pounce... For a glorious second her ears and tail flow behind her as her tongue hangs from her agape muzzle.

It was a comfort to Nadia, to hear that she was not the only one with a hoard of puppies to wrangle! The little scallywags were stampeding all over the estate, getting into muddy puddles and digging holes, making the whole place messier, but warmer for their presence. She could deal with any amount of dirt to compensate for the happiness that they brought her. They were a lot of work, though. That was undeniable. Each one required a lengthy period of socialisation and training, and she already knew that it would take up a substantial chunk of her time, once she got the ball rolling. And yet there she was, prepared for another litter! "Oh, my. I have eight at the moment, and five adults," She said as she settled into one of the provided chairs, crossing one leg over the other. "They are just... marvellous to be around. So very joyful. Do you find it so?" Inky was primed, but not quite ready for Selene's enthusiasm. Still, he recovered quickly and was ready to meet it - he barked, tail lashing with excitement, and squirmed away to dart around the room. Nadia briefly wondered if the place was soundproofed! [12]

Morgan had a huge estate. It only ever seemed to grow larger. Some of the creatures were ones that Morgan fully intended to train (mounts, mostly) but hadn't gotten around to yet (and how could they, with so much work to be done?). However, some of the 'creatures' were more like family to them. The society of the Labs City had a weird way of erasing Lab-created sentients- and the fact that they were indeed sentient... People. Puppies though- puppies were just sweet. It was nice to be able to go to the Kennel and check on them- there was very little as great as being greeted by roly-poly puppers.
It was easy to like the simpler things in life. Like reading to dragons, playing in the park with your daughter, or puppy breath.
"Eight and five adults-" Morgan repeats, pondering. "That's l-lovely. That's quite the a-accomplishment!" Of course it was, five adults- houluh required so much dedication to grow properly! They tilt their head in thought, their fingers at the tip of their chin as they considered. "I do- T-there's something so simple about a puppy. I am n-not entirely certain how dignified it is-" Then their voice turns conspiratorial. "But h-have you ever just... Went outside and looked at t-the clouds with the puppies? Just w-watching them gambol around is so nice."
Selene bounces happily, trying to keep up with the quick angled dart around the room, but she's a little bit less coordinated. It seems when she was excitable enough that she went from pretty spoiled princess to an absolute jittery excitable mound of hound. She barks back, wags her tail miles to nothing, and then tries to pounce the first chance she gets with very little success.
Morgan found both of the houluh quite loud- but Selene seemed happy so they watched with the barest hint of a true grin.

It was... really quite nice, to hear her achievement acknowledged. Nadia glanced bashfully down at her lap, keeping an intense focus on her cuticles - she was embarrassed by how happy it made her feel, so she tried to swallow it, but there was no completely hiding her smile. "Thank you," She murmured; then, the mention of happy bounding puppies in nature broke her into a grin. "Yes, of course. I'm fortunate to have woodland around my home, and I love to see them rooting around the leaf carpet. Watching them simply... being, and enjoying their time, is a wonderful thing." The pounce was enough to catch Inky off guard. He stumbled a little over his own paws - whoops! - and tottered into a heap in front of Selene, with a grunt of exertion. There was no keeping a good dog down, though, and he took the opportunity of being low to the ground to spring at her, hoping to take her by surprise. "These two seem rather suited," Nadia was pleased to note. "I imagine Inky is pleased to have an eligible matronne in his company." [14]
