Seeing as we have a massive amount of pets that no one wants, why not have an option to use them beyond a corpse construct growth? It could also help lessen the images being hosted that no one needs, freeing up space for the future.
Possibilities:
-Allow players to sacrifice pet souls instead of a piece of their own to power a node. These would only be paid pets, so sarane/houluh/general breedables/LEs would be unable to be used, with the cost at maybe five pets per level of node to prevent it from being too easy and failing to clean anything up. This could have it's own cooldown of six months to a year to avoid someone easily powering through, but also allowing those who don't want to rip out a piece of their own soul to still make a node. EDIT: This method is the same as the current, but with the pets replacing the need for a berry.
-Regarding the node creation system, how about sacrificing pets to infuse remnant crystals with the beast's innate element? Using the list of creatures by element, a player could kill a pet in some ceremonial manner to draw out their element. This would need to be heavily limited if LE use was allowed, likely with a cooldown, needing at least a pair of beasts to properly infuse one and requiring each 'free' pet to have fifteen levels to draw out the element before being able to be killed. But seeing as there is already a few handy and easier methods of gaining a crystal, if one was willing to wait to trade, I think this would be a nice way to clear out some of the pets. EDIT: Or this could serve as a way for elemental players to boost their mp pool by one point per critter of the same element consumed.
-A sarane shuffle. A player could to be able to trade something like three non-brown sarane to a sarane broker in exchange for an egg. These eggs could contain nonbrown colors, marked beasts, or maybe even combining the two so that a user could get something like a speckled green hen if the mod in charge of it wanted to go further. These exchanges could be for a random result, with a chance of a higher tier if five sarane are traded in instead of three?
-Alternatively, shops simply 'sell' critters to unseen characters after a certain amount of time has passed with them in a given shop. This would at least clean up shops that buy critters from people, and possibly encourage folks to buy from them should there be a pet they kind of like. EDIT: Maybe the warning sign is that pet prices get cut down right before they are sold? Or maybe the prices to sell and buy go down in general to encourage folks to buy from the shops and treat selling there as always a last resort?
I have a feeling this one might be a bit controversial, so I welcome hearing others opinions on the suggestion. Or suggestions in what to do with the horde of unused, unwanted pets.
