Earlier, after my less than informed suggestion, I was told in regards to making a node that "Furthermore, the soul removal part of the process isn’t because a piece of a soul is needed as “fuel”, it’s how the node is bound to that specific person. Which means you just bound a node to a creature that’s currently bleeding out on the temple floor and couldn’t even use a node if it wasn’t." Does this prevent folks from selling nodes or using nodes they themselves did not use their own soul to make?

Nodes have never been bound to their creators, RE: every single person (including staff) who's ever made a node with a secondary character. There's nothing in the tutorial about it either, the step about the soul says: "The gods and spirits give, but they also take in return. For something as potent as magic, there is only one kind of tithing they will accept - that being a small shard of the caster’s own soul." So it sounds like the soul is payment, not anything to do with binding.

Alright, thank you. Bit confused, but I guess it's just one of those things.

Sorry, I think I missed that bit of lore when I wrote my response to your suggestion. The point is, a price is asked of the caster, not some animals the caster brought with them. Kind of defeats the point of asking a personal price if you can just toss some animals you have no personal attachment to in, or were raising just to be slaughtered. I didn't mean to imply that the nodes were permanently bound to their creators, that was a mistake on my part. The soul piece is, out of canon/lore, a game mechanic for being able to only make one node per year per character, and that's not going to change soon.
(P.S. I am working on a response to the other question you asked about the new WELP species! I was just waiting to have enough time at home to write it with the detail it deserves.)
