The short version: I suggest allowing users to grab codes for our free/LE pets once the thread is completed by a user in the Lodge/APAA.
The long version: We have played together for ten years plus under the same system of staff sends us our gear/pets after X days. However with the new optionality of an rp with a shopkeeper, I want to add onto this idea.
For the generic free/limited edition pets that are easily obtainable, the users should have a choice to either wait it out for the X days to receive their pet, or can do a code grab and post proof of having collected. It saves the staff time on sending out PMs for everyone making purchases at the Lodge or adopting at the APAA. It would be noted in the title.
Something that isn’t a free creature or has multiple urls attached? Wait the X days like everyone else. What about the special ribbon from the APAA? Send it when the thread’s locked.
Pros: Less waiting on the APAA/Lodge for creatures that are easily obtainable. Might bring in more traffic to those shops.
Cons: risk of cheating but we’ve played in the same community for ten+ years. I think we’re grown up enough to not pick more then our choices.

Since you can only buy growing creatures or VSC from the Lodge, every creature there has a unique code. Therefore, this wouldn't be possible there.
As for the APAA, we're going to deny this one. The APAA works just like regular shops, other than the extended roleplay requirement, and we don't want to make an exception right now. We do check your roleplay before giving your pet out because you do actually have to stay on topic!
This is less about whether or not we trust users not to steal pets, and more about not making too many niche exceptions to the system. Pets not going out in the APAA is kind of a rare problem to make a whole new rule about. We'll just do our best to check it more often so people don't have to worry about the wait as much. :)
