Another breeding... She really needed to cool down she figured with a chuckle, but that wasn't going to happen she knew. Oh well, that was fine. Standing against the wall of the Breeding Center with both Ladybird and Vino sitting and laying down next to her respectively, she smiled as she waited for Nerius to show up to the Breeding Center, wondering if the salve she had given him would work for his headache this time or not. That was the big question, but she was happy to have a plan with him, she always was happy to see her friends she knew with a chuckle. Jack rubbed her head a little with a smile and waited some more, wondering when he would get there. She hadn't really given him a time, just a... general idea of when to be there, so she wasn't in too much of a hurry anyway, though she would like to get this done.

[Breeding: 2/20]
It felt a little odd to be showing up to the breeding center without a critter of his own, but Jack apparently needed a second 'chaperone' to breed a pair of her houluh. He had to admit he didn't entirely understand why, but if the people more experienced with houluh had decided it was important, there was probably a good reason. That or bureaucracy, it was hard to tell with the Labs sometimes.
Since he wasn't wrangling his own critter, Nerius made unusually good time. Jack had still beat him there, he could feel the thrumming mass of magic before he actually reached the building. It only got stronger as he approached, and had to pause for a moment, taking a few deep breaths before continuing on. Which, he realized, Jack may very well have seen, as he spotted her leaning against the wall of the building. He decided to pretend like that hadn't happened, and gave a friendly wave as he approached.

She wasn't going to judge or anything, she knew she was an... interesting presence for Nerius, considering his unusual sense for magic. Pushing off of the wall, she waved back when he waved and sent Vino, her Patronne, toward him to help if he needed it. Though she didn't think he would need it, it was still a gesture of friendship she would have sent for anyone at this point it would seem. "Hey there, thanks for helping!" she called to him as she waved, and Ladybird sat at attention, primly and properly next to her as she surveyed the strange man across from them. She wasn't sure what they were going to do, but that... was alright in the same time. Jack pushed a hand through her hair with a chuckle and patted Ladybird on her head, ready to get this done and over with. Hopefully she would get something she wanted, but... there was always the chance she wouldn't, of course.

[Breeding: 4/20]
Well, if Jack had noticed, it didn't seem that she was going to make a big deal of it, which he was glad for. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate the help, it was just that it still felt odd, and he never quite knew how to respond. It was one of those things he couldn't blame on cultural difference, either, it was personal experience and he knew it.
But he didn't need to dwell on that now, especially with the houluh heading over to him. He offered his hand for the stripy hound to sniff, greeting the houluh as much as Jack with a "Hello." Vino gave a curious sniff, and a slight wag of the tail. Nerius took that as in invitation to give him a pet, before turning his attention more to Jack, "You're welcome, which one is this?" They were both 'stripy reddish houlou' and not having met the hounds before, wasn't sure which was which.

Giving a smile when she saw Nerius interact with her Patronne, she nodded and then gestured toward him for a moment to introduce him, "This is Vino. And over here is Ladybird. I know they look a lot alike, but I swear they're not related in any way. Weird right?" Tilting her head a bit, she wondered about the genetics of her Houluh and shrugged a little, it didn't really matter, she knew, other than they weren't related. They couldn't breed if they were closely related, but they weren't at all, and it made her wonder sometimes... Oh well she thought and she turned to hold open the door for them all, "Here you go!" Ladybird trotted primly inside of the building and settled inside of the door to the side of it a little bit so the rest could get through. She was a sweet girl, and Jack couldn't wait to see what her newest pups would look like.

[Breeding: 6/20]
Vino glanced at Jack when he heard his name, but otherwise was happy to be petted by Nerius. "They do look remarkably similar," Nerius agreed, Vino had tan markings instead of white, and Ladybird had stripes, but overall the two looked like they could have come from the same litter. "Is that unusual for the species?" he asked, he would have expected so, with the wide variety of markings in the species, but he was no expert.
"Thank you," Nerius followed Jack into the building, Vino tagging along, also following more after Jack than him. The weather was getting warm this time of year, and Nerius was happy to get inside. Once they were all inside, he asked, "Are you hoping for more pups with similar markings, or something from their, ah, genetics?" He had to pause for a moment to remember the local term for what vrost would have called 'bio-runes'.

"Well I mean their parents look very different as well from what I can tell. I have Ladybird's father and that's about it, I adopted Vino from the HAA as a puppy. I'd say it's pretty unusual from what I've seen at least," Jack admitted as she followed them into the Center and then went over to the counter to start up the paperwork. She figured she would do it all since Nerius knew next to nothing about her Houluh, and that was fine. As she filled it out, she smiled and glanced over at him as Ladybird sniffed at the stranger for a moment or two.
"Well honestly I'm hoping for a white pup, if that's possible at all from them, but other than that, I really don't know what I'm looking for. I love the white and off white marking they share, so that wouldn't be horrible to get either, when it comes down to it. I also have an Offering to Order for the breeding, to make them Silky pups," she told him with a smile before finishing the last of the paperwork.

[Breeding: 8/20]
"I wonder it their pups will look different as well, I understand sometimes even pups from the same litter can look very different," not that he had any experience in breeding houluh himself, but Nerius visited the breeding center enough for other species that he overheard a bit of gossip from houluh breeders. Or reading up in the many magazines that were scattered around as he waited.
He considered offering to help with the paperwork, but given that he didn't know the details about the houluh, he'd just end up having to ask Jack everything, and that wouldn't make things go any more efficiently. Instead, he offered a hand for Ladybird to sniff, willing to pet the matronne if she allowed it. Vino had been watching Jack, but she was busy, and he wandered over to Nerius and Ladybird.
Nerius was a little surprised to hear what Jack was after, given the appearance of the pair, "Do their parents have a lot of white markings?" He'd seen much lighter colored houluh than these two, so it seemed an odd choice. He was more interested in the offering though, "The silky pups have some innate magical abilities, yes?"

"The first breeding I ever did was my Luna and someone else's Patronne, a black Houluh and an almost all white Houluh. They gave a red, a black, and a brown. I kept the red and gave him the most clever name I could think of, Red," Jack poked fun at herself as she handed over the paperwork and turned around to find a seat, giving a grin to her friend. She wasn't sure what he would be interested in taking from the breeding though, and figured she would ask after a moment or two.
"Well Vino's mother, from the genealogy records, was all white, and his father was mostly off white. Ladybird though, her father is Red, my red Houluh with foxwhite markings, and her mother is mostly white with some brindling. So I mean it's possible to get all white pups I suppose, but it'll be a challenge to get them I figure," she sighed a little, sitting down as Ladybird licked the man's hand in greeting. "Oh yes! They're resistant to magic at least when they're pups, but I haven't grown any to see what else they can do," the woman answered happily, showing him the little bell she had bought.

[Breeding: 10/20]
"That is an interesting mix," Nerius agreed, trying to envision what kind of unusual pups could come from these two. Nerius smiled back, and at the mention of the name admitted, "I named my pup after coffee, Latte Macchiato." The colors reminded him of a nice coffee, and.. he liked food, okay?
He'd received the pup from the HAA, and hadn't really put a whole lot of thought into who the breeders had been, but now, the patronne's prefix sounded familiar. "I think she may have been from one of yours, actually. Do you own a patronne named Sunspot?"
"It sounds possible; white markings pass down differently than others, do they not?" Nerius wasn't entirely sure what all those markings she mentioned were, but that part sounded familiar at least. With Ladybird giving a lick of approval, he went to pet the matronne. Vino, seeing the attention, slid up beside the other houluh, looking for pets, and Nerius patted him with his other hand.
"Interesting," it was a bit of a shame Jack couldn't confirm any other rumors, but at least it was confirmation of one.

"Yeah I do! Sunspot is his show name, his call name is Light. I gave him an elixir of giant growth, so he's as big as a horse now," she said with a chuckle, "He's a clumsy pup though, so don't be too surprised if she turns out that way as well. I'm pleased one of his pups went to you though! I hope she does well for you." She tapped her chin a little and thought about the white markings before slowly nodding as she sat down, "They do, there's a strange way for them to pass down as well, the more white the parents have, the more white the offspring seem to have, or they could have slightly less white. It's complicated, but I do think the offspring from these two are going to be red no matter what the outcome. Or they could be tan I suppose... It all depends on their genetics I was given I guess."
Smiling, she watched as Ladybird lowered her head a little for the head pats and woofed low, she was pleased with the attention, and Jack was happy she was happy for now. "I've heard they're swift though, if that makes any sense to you?"

[Breeding: 12/20]
A horse sized houluh, not something he'd ever seen, but hardly surprising around the Labs, there were plenty of giant canines. Though, "That seems like a hazardous combination." Clumsy plus giant, sounded like a recipe for a lot of broken things.
"I haven't noticed her being clumsy, just.. very energetic." That was another reason why he had named the pup after coffee, Maki bounced around like she was highly caffeinated.
"Oh, thank you," Nerius was a little flustered that Jack was pleased he'd ended up with one of her pups, "I admit, I don't have a lot of experience with the species."
Nerius both the houluh, which both appreciated the attention, but... "While I am glad they seem to like me, I should probably quit distracting them." The two had been brought to the center for a reason, and so far they'd been more interested in pets than they had each other.

Jack winced and nodded, "Yeah, it is sometimes. He had big paws when he was a pup and then when he grew normally, so I was hoping that the elixir would proportion him a little bit better. Didn't.... didn't seem to work quite like I'd hoped though..." She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly and then stood up from the chair when an attendant told her which room they were going to be in. Motioning for Nerius to come with her, she called Ladybird to her with a smile and then walked down the hallway, pleased with the way things were going so far.
"That's perfectly fine, they're pretty easy to go a little overboard with though, it would seem. If you need any help with yours, just look me up and I can help you out if you'd like," Jack offered, smiling at her friend as she opened the door to the room. Another chuckle as Ladybird trotted inside and she shrugged at Nerius, "It's okay, they have a lot of time together at the Kennel, it's not every day they meet someone new and all. They should get used to you pretty quickly."

[Breeding: 14/20]
"Did it just grow the paws as well?" Nerius asked, not sure if 'didn't work as hoped' referred to balancing growth, or the overall clumsiness.
When motioned, he stood up, and followed Jack down the hallway. He wasn't sure what kind of training Vino had in regards to obedience, but fortunately when the petting stopped, he was happy to follow along after Jack.
"I appreciate it," the mild fluster hadn't faded, and once again Nerius felt baffled by Jack's willingness to help without obvious reward. It wasn't entirely unexpected at this point, but it hadn't gotten any less strange for all her many offers. If anything, that many offers itself were strange. Partially to draw attention away from his unfamiliarity of such offered assistance, and partially out of curiosity, Nerius asked, "Do you have many of them?" 'Overboard' suggested so, and he wouldn't have been overly surprised given that he knew she bred both pachee and orbaru.
