The second breeding had taken awhile, but it had finally panned out and they were waiting on pups for now. Magpie was already more excited than she had been for the breeding, and everything would be alright she knew. She would make a great mother, and if not, then Luna would adopt and help out a little bit. Jack scratched the back of her head as she waited outside of the Breeding Center with Cocoa. Honestly she was pretty surprised that Fiera went for him, being pretty plain in looks after all, but he had his charms of course, as did his son, Chunk, the darker brown Houluh she had eventually adopted from the HAA.
Stretching out her back a little, she yawned and glanced at the sky. It was hotter than hell out it seemed, she felt like melting, and Cocoa was standing in the grass so his paws wouldn't burn on the pavement. She didn't blame him at all.

Having black fur was definitely not a boon for Fiera in this sort of weather. The sun was beating down overhead and she could feel herself sweating and was glad she had thrown on a cardigan over her regular shirt. Pauline seemed to be doing a bit better however, with only a small strip of her having dark fur near her head. Despite the weather though, Fiera really was excited for this breeding. It was most likely the final breeding that Pauline had left in her, but Cocoa was a good choice for it. His coat was pristine, unmarred by any white patches, and his fur had a near purple tint to it that Fiera found enticing. Some might not find it the most intuitive breeding to propose, but Fiera was convinced as she rounded the corner to the breeding center that it would result in some interesting pups for the both of them.

They waited outside of the Breeding Center for awhile, and honestly just as Jack started to think about heading inside, she thought she saw Fiera heading around the bend. Cocoa was laying on the grass now, panting from the heat, and Jack simply smiled and waved, motioning toward the door for when they got a little closer. Smiling, she opened it up and felt a blast of cold air hit her, making her stomach churn a bit to go from one extreme to the other in such a short amount of time. However, she held it down and sighed a little as she faced the cool air and held it open for Fiera and Pauline, with Cocoa running inside. No point in standing outside and chatting when it was this hot out and all that. She could come up with pleasantries later she figured with a small sigh, followed by a yawn as well.

Oh good, Jack was already here. She recognized Cocoa first, oddly enough. The light was so bright that his comparatively darker coat stood out. Not that she couldn't recognize Jack- goodness knew that she had seen a lot of her the past couple days. The other woman didn't seem much in the mood for talking though, preferring to make a beeline straight for the door. Fiera couldn't really blame her- it was way too hot out for them to stand out here and chit chat. Still, Fiera had more than enough chitchat stored in her for the pair of them. The coolness of the breeding center really was a relief though- the rush of it over her skin was enough to make it tingle, and she instantly felt the cold seep into her now damp shirt and hair. Pauline seemed to enjoy it too, shaking herself off as if soaked to try and get some of that heat off of her fur.

As she wandered toward the counter with no real hurry in her steps after how hot she was, she glanced over at the other woman and smiled, "Sorry, definitely too hot to talk outside." Hopefully she would understand, having... fur. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? Jack shook her head and watched as Cocoa wagged his tail and trotted over to the Matronne who was shaking a little to hopefully get some of the heat off of her. He woofed low and questioningly as he tilted his head, his big ears flopping to one side.
She started to fill out the paperwork with a yawn, the heat really took it out of her, she was even a little more used to it than some, but it wasn't like she was from a desert or anything. Whatever, it was fine at this point, though she wished she had a little bit more to go on than this.

"Ugh, you said it." Fiera said, pulling her hair back for a moment to let the cool air touch the back of her neck. She most certainly did understand. "Last one for this round, huh?" She said, thinking of all the breedings they had done so far. She tapped her nails on the counter as the receptionist held up a finger- apparently they were still trying to find her set of paperwork. Fiera huffed- she wanted to say something, but she was already all hot and bothered. She just couldn't be damned to yell at them right now. Instead, she turned back to Jack. "What do you think the pups out of these two are going to end up looking like? I have a few ideas, but nothing solid."
Pauline responded well to Cocoa's advances. She was well used to this thing by now and knew what to expect. She leaned over toward the new patronne, sniffing him curiously.

"Last one for now at least," Jack said with a wink as she filled out her paperwork. She finished it up and slipped it back over to the person behind the counter and then leaned against it, huffing a moment before giving a small chuckle, "I mean, you know I'll always bring things to breed with yours." Another wink and a laugh and she eyed the two Houluh for a moment before making rounds around them, looking them over a little closer. "You know... we might get puppies that all look alike, thanks to Cocoa, not that it's a bad thing boyo! I do think we'll get mainly brown, maybe red tips if we're lucky?" she said, tapping her chin after she ruffled Cocoa's fur to make him feel a little better.
He lifted his tail happily and barked before prancing around her, he knew the drill as well, but he had only been bred once, giving two white and a brown pup, two of which lived at home with them now.

Fiera thought about the massive collections of pachee, orbaru, and houluh that both she and Jack had built up over time. It wasn't that they kept picking each other for all this so much as they owned a decent percentage of all of those species that lived in the city. These sorts of things just happened. "Oh yes, you know I'm always looking for more pets to own. And yes, I'm thinking we'll get mainly brown puppies out of this, maybe some brindle if we're lucky." She said, glancing down at the houluh. It was nice to have a breeding that was fully predictable for once, though for all she knew they would still get some surprises. Fiera glanced over at the receptionist as she finally managed to dig up the paperwork and started filling it out, going a little faster than usual to make up for lost time. Pauline looked at Cocoa, impressed by his prancing.

Nodding, Jack agreed with her, they might get some brindling if they were lucky, but she wasn't sure about it just yet. It would be interesting to see some brindling along more of the coat of a Houluh, she didn't think she had one like that yet, but of course so many of hers hadn't grown yet, so it was hard to tell. Jack chewed on her lip a little and sighed a bit, wondering what she needed to do after this. It was going to be fine though, she would get some jobs finished and all would be well. "You know, it's surprising how varied Houluh can get though, you know? The very first one I did was with two black Houluh and we got a black, a brown, and a red," the red being, of course, Red himself.
Cocoa barked happily and reached out to lick her cheek a little. He was pleased so far he figured, was she?

Fiera was definitely hoping for some interesting markings in her upcoming houluh puppies. It would be wonderful to get a brindled puppy out of Pauline before she ran out of litters she could have. With Cocoa’s pure, white-free fur, she might be able to get a puppy with more visible brindling than Pauline… if she was lucky. Of course Fiera was confident in the results they would get, but only time would tell what would actually happen. She tossed the paperwork back onto the counter after she finished it, waiting for the receptionist to come up with their room number already. “Yeah, it’s funny how they’re like that. Especially those weird houluh- the celestial and zephyr. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an offspring come out of one of those that was predictable in any way.”
Meanwhile, Pauline licked Cocoa back. What a polite patronne this was!

Jack crossed her arms over her chest and smiled a little, "Actually Magpie, the Matronne from the last breeding? She's the offspring of two Zephyr Houluh. She definitely wasn't expected from that pairing, and I wonder what's happened to her siblings. I've heard at least one has grown though, and looks quite a bit different than her." She felt that they had interesting genetics that seemed to change every time, or at least that's what she thought whenever she got their genetics back from their growths. That was interesting for sure, and she hoped that she could see a little more out of them before their breedings were finished. Well, she might have to get some more from the Lodge, actually...
Cocoa barked happily and looked over at the woman for a moment, if only to see if they would get to a room soon enough. He was looking forward to more pups, and if this Matronne was any indication, they would hopefully be a little more... patterned than the last ones. Not that he didn't love his pups though, certainly.

“Well, Magpie certainly created plenty of beautiful pups.” Fiera noted. “Even if you can’t predict a zephyr houluh breeding, they still make some lovely pups.” She said, thinking of Magpie fondly. Her and Jack’s breedings so far had turned out some beautiful pups, and she was sure Pauline and Cocoa’s would turn out just as nice. The matronne sidled up to the patronne, measuring him up in a way. Strong, healthy, glossy coat, smelled nice. He certainly checked all of her boxes, so Pauline was fine with it all. Finally, Fiera saw some movement from the reception desk. “Ah, Fiera and Jack? Room six, if you don’t mind.” She said, gesturing to the nearby set of double doors. Fiera breathed a small sigh. Finally. “Well, shall we go?” She said to Jack, gesturing over her shoulder toward the doors they had been asked to go through.

Jack chuckled and nodded, glancing over at the two Houluh who were sizing each other up it would seem. Cocoa was pretty happy with the arrangement, and licked at Pauline a little as best as he could, a little shyly honestly, and then trotted toward the woman when she whistled for him. "Yeah, sure thing!" Jack told her with a smile, starting to head toward the room they had been pointed toward. While it was nice being in the same room time and time again, it got a little old sometimes, and she hoped that being in a different room this time would be something a little more inviting.
"I don't know about you, but I've been having a hard time doing what I'm supposed to be doing lately," she finally said with a frown as she opened the door for the other woman and the two Houluh. At least she tried to be chivalrous.

The hallway leading to the breeding rooms was the same as usual. To the breeding center's credit however, they did do their best to keep it comfortable and lively in here, with fine tile floors and little paintings on the walls, even if those paintings seemed a bit... childish at times. Ah well. Orbaru and their ilk were rather popular with children, so she could see why they would pick such decor. When they arrived at the door, Fiera was more than happy to accept Jack's chivalry, stepping into the room first like she deserved it. (Which she did.) It was decorated as usual, with various toys, soft blankets, and little hideaways for houluh couples to play around in. Pauline trotted in after her, happy to get herself situated. Hearing Jack's statement however, Fiera replied. "I wouldn't worry about it too much- I'm not sure if you've noticed, but everyone seems to have bursts of productivity."
