She wasn't sure what all she was wanting to find other than crystals, but that was pretty much it. Of course any stones would be a bonus, like this sodalite, which she turned over in her hand once, twice, three times before smiling at it and putting it into the bag in the back of the cart for all their findings. She felt bad, kind of, to keep everything her familiars helped her find in the mines, but at the same time, they didn't really seem to care. Maybe she would set up some nests for them or something, who knew. Would it really hurt her to do that though? Do something nice for her animals? As she watched Grim continue in the hole he was digging, dirt and rocks flying behind him, she hoped she would be able to figure something out eventually, she really wanted to and it was only right.

Grim was happy enough to be digging and finding things. Part of him wanted to keep the stones he helped to find, but what would he do with them? He wasn't one to hoard on things, but that didn't really matter in the long run. He glanced over at the woman as she watched him and rumbled at her, making her laugh a bit and then start to dig as well. If he was going to help her out, then she needed to do the same, he figured with a snort. It didn't matter who she thought she was, if things were going to work out, then she would have to help him as he helped her. There were certain things she was looking for, he knew it, there always were, but he didn't think this stone was one of the things she was looking for unfortunately. It all worked out though, because she could still use it.

As she dug she kept an eye on the hole she was working on and the other on the one Grim was working on. She wasn't sure what to expect from the halfbreed, but she hoped it would be good things no matter what. A smile graced her lips again and she hoped they would find good things sooner rather than later, it was always frustrating going home without what she was looking for. Jack pushed her hair back for a moment before tying it back and then nodded, she really needed to cut her hair, it was getting far too long for her liking. Maybe Renathan liked her hair long though, she would have to ask him the next time she saw him. Her smile grew soft and fond as she thought of him, it had been awhile since they had been together, and she hoped to see him soon. Maybe she could send a message to him or something, that might work.

Ah, there in the dirt lay hidden a vein of dark ore, and a glorious gem as sunny as the midday sky. What a lucky find! [11-15]

At least they had already found something, Jack had to be happy about that she supposed. It wasn't quite what she wanted, but that was fine, as long as she was finding something she would be happy. Of course she had an end goal in mind, but she wasn't sure she was going to be able to find five fire crystals anytime soon. Maybe Grim could help her out with that or something, she really didn't know though. It was nice to think of, she supposed, but nothing else was going to happen unless they dug around in the mines. But that's why they were there, she figured with a smile as the shovel bit into the floor of the mines again next to where Grim was digging. They were digging their own holes, Grim's was much deeper than hers so far, and she wondered what else they were going to find in this area.

Whatever the case, whatever they found would eventually be put to use she figured with a little smile on her face. Jack shrugged a bit and then kept digging, keeping an eye on the sodalite in her wagon just in case someone or something tried to come along and snatch it. While she didn't think it would happen, it was always there in the back of her mind, she figured with a little frown. It wasn't like the rest of the Labs was untrustworthy, but she still erred on the side of caution just in case. Jack pushed her hair back again and let herself dig into the ground with a bit of discipline, finally uncovering a dark metal that she was familiar with. She had worked with most metals, and this one was black as the night sky. After digging it out, she let Grim sniff it a little and then he bobbed his head and continued to dig, wondering what they would find next.

Perhaps things would be well enough to find them themselves? What was she thinking, only the animals and familiars down here could find someone, the stones and crystals couldn't do a single thing for her. She laughed a little at herself and shook her head, she didn't know what was going on, she always thought strange things when she worked, she figured. Whenever she was doing physical labor like this it gave her plenty of time to think, which might be a bad thing when she needed to focus sometimes. Ah well, it wasn't going to hurt anyone if she spaced out just a little bit, would it? Jack shook her head a little and watched Grim dig through the dirt and then snort and sit back on his haunches. He wasn't finding anything good just yet, aside from the sodalite, and he wasn't too happy with that find either. Jack just didn't know, maybe he was a little rusty as well.

Grim wasn't pleased with this spot, he was sure it was going to give out more and more as time went on, and better stuff too, but it didn't seem like that was going to be the case. He gave a rumbled sigh and dug halfheartedly in the dirt for a few moments before stopping and watching the woman. She was always so enthusiastic about things, it was hard to keep up sometimes he thought. It didn't matter though, with her along of course they would find some stuff, it was only a matter of time, he thought with a bob of his head. It didn't really add up though, why did she have luck, she had found that metal and then put it into the wagon after letting him sniff at it a little, just what was he going to do if things didn't work out anyway? He chuffed and glanced further down into the mines, maybe they should move on already.

Jack flipped her hair back over her shoulder, wondering what was going to work out eventually. She smiled a little and glanced over at Grim, picking up on what he was thinking pretty easily as he stared longingly down into the mines. Hmm, what was she going to do with him anyway? Jack frowned a little as she shook her head, he wanted to move on already but they'd only found two things so far, it was frustrating, sure, but they hadn't been working for too terribly long, had they? He just needed to give it more of a chance already, they would work things out in the end of it all, after all. She reached out and patted him on the back, getting a strange look in the process. Rarely did she touch him, it didn't seem to happen too often, but he supposed he should get used to it, she did it with everything else in the Kennel.

Two very pale and extremely shiny things could be found in this area, one of which was positively thrumming with some kind of radiant energy! Just what was that thing? [16-20]

It was hard to see how people couldn't be enthralled by the mines, at least in her mind it was hard to see. Jack shrugged a bit, patted the halfbreed on the head, then put the shovel back into the wagon and let him lead her to the next spot. He stood and sniffed around a moment when he saw her packing up, they hadn't had much luck just yet and that was fine. They would find more in the next spot, he was sure of it, though he really hoped they wouldn't have to move from the next spot as well. There was a tingle in his veins that told him wherever they were headed was going to be good, he just didn't know what to expect from things just yet. Jack pushed her hair back as she followed the glowing halfbreed as he tracked won the tunnels of the mines, hopefully they would find a good spot soon.

It was interesting to watch his process. Whenever he found a promising site, Grim would dig for a moment and sniff the dirt and rocks that came undone before snorting and shaking his head before moving on again. Things would work out eventually, she knew, but she hoped he would stop soon and give her aching leg a bit of a rest. It was hard to deal with it when it got cold out, and only now was the chill disappearing and letting her use it more frequently again. Having a bad leg was rough, but nothing was going to stop her when it came to her goals. She had to find fire crystals, and soon she thought with a determined look on her face. She had three nodes already, she wanted the fourth of the elemental before working on the hollow and divine. One of these days she would know it all, she just had to keep going.

Once, when Grim was digging, there was a brilliant stone that came tumbling out of the wall he was digging at. It was orange, and he nosed it a little bit before delicately picking it up in his sharp teeth and dropping it into her outstretched hand. Then, before she could inspect it further, he wandered off again, still not finding the spot that made his veins tingle. It was getting closer, however, he could just feel it, but he wasn't as in tune with the mines as his father was, that was alright though, he was sure things would work out for him soon enough as time went on. It just took some practice, he was different from his father, he hadn't grown up in the mines and he hadn't been in the mines with the woman as much as he had either. It was going to work out soon though, he just needed practice.

Jack followed along behind the halfbreed and turned the stone over in her hand a few times. It would need some cleaning up, but nothing she wasn't used to when it came to the Workshop. She just hoped things would work out with it eventually, she just didn't know if it was going to re-open. Honestly, she really hoped it would, but that was going to be the hard thing, what if it didn't? Jack shook her head, she didn't want to think about that right now at least, and she hoped that things were going to go well no matter what. The stone in her hand was a sunstone, a pretty orange stone with little flecks of color from time to time, and it looked great in jewelry. That's what was exciting, figuring out what was going to look good with certain colors, the whole thing just fascinated her, truly.

Grim paused again, and Jack took the opportunity to put the stone back into the wagon with the sodalite and the shadow iron they had found earlier. It was nice to start finding things again, she figured with a little smile on her face, though she was also looking forward to training again as well. It would be nice, she figured with a little smile, to get working with some of her animals again. Until then, though, she wasn't sure what she was going to do aside from mining. She couldn't get hollow crystals from here, only the mansion, but until she decided to brave that area, she wasn't sure what to do about that kind of thing. That was alright though. It took until now to realize Grim hadn't moved from the spot he had found, and was digging furiously at the wall. Had he found the spot he was looking for now? It certainly seemed that way.
