Looks like something was in that wall! It was shiny and silver. Further down, somewhere hidden, lay a pink gem just ripe for the finding. [16-20]

The halfbreed dug and dug for a little while and then finally something fell out at his paws. He nosed it for a moment, some of the dirt coming away from it to show a soft glowing white color underneath the part where the dirt was worn away. Glancing over at the woman, he seemed surprised at how excited she was. The woman hugged him around the neck and then gently picked up the stone, turning it over in her hand before brushing off the dirt. Underneath was a soft white, glowing crystal, a pure crystal, in fact! She had found at least one of these before, but had given it to someone else. He had left before he did anything with it though, and never got her own back, but that was fine she decided, because she'd found another one! Or well, Grim had found another one for her, rather.

Jack was almost filled with reverence for the crystal. It wasn't the one she was looking for, but that was alright she supposed. It was still important and would get her closer to her goal of knowing everything, she decided. There were a lot more crystals she was going to need if she was going to know it all though, and at least this was a step in the right direction, she figured with a little smile on her face. Grim seemed pleased with himself and sniffed at the hole again before digging some more. She didn't know what he might find, but that was alright she figured as she grabbed her pickaxe after placing the crystal in a separate pouch in the wagon, and then swung it at the wall next to Grim. She would work on a different hole than he was working on, it seemed to work best that way, and that way she didn't accidentally hit him with it.

As long as the pair kept finding crystals, she figured she would be alright. She also decided she would put up flyers around town to see if anyone would be willing to sell some fire crystals to her, that would be nice too. As long as she started being able to make nodes again, then things would calm down after awhile. Jack chuckled a little as she swung the pickaxe against the wall again and again, making a bigger hole as she dug around. It wouldn't do any good to try and do any mining if she didn't do it herself. She honestly planned on spending the whole day down here, Grim could fend for himself but she did bring a bowl for water, and she brought herself a couple of meals and snacks just in case something happened or she simply got hungry. For now though, she figured that would be fine.

What would she do if she got caught in a mine collapse anyway? It wouldn't be the first time, and she bet it wouldn't be her last, but as long as she had Grim with her she really didn't think that would happen. It might, of course, but as long as Grim was there then she would be able to get out as long as he was with her and could help her dig out of it and get to the wagon. She couldn't wait to go home though and look at everything they had found so far, especially to clean up the crystal and display it until she had enough to make a node. That would take forever though, she figured with a sigh, and she didn't know what spells she would decide on when the time came. That was the hardest part of the whole thing, even splitting her soul wasn't so bad.

Grim dug at the wall some more, he wasn't sure if there was another crystal back there, but he wanted to find out. Sometimes they came in clumps, but it was rather rare for that to happen. Still though, something told him to keep going for now, he thought as he dug. Maybe even if they just found some stones she would be happy with him. Nothing was going to go well for now and from then on, but that was fine she figured with a bit of a smile on her face. She knew Grim was trying and she wasn't going to fault him for that kind of thing. While pleased he had found a crystal for her, even if it was the wrong kind, really, it was alright in the end of it, she thought. At least it was getting her a little closer to her goal, now she just had to find eight more of the pure crystals to make a greater node...

It was going to be a good day, she could feel it after Grim had found the pure crystal, now she just needed to follow suit and find some that she was a little more immediately interested in at the moment. It was going to be nice either way, she figured with a bit of a smile, and hoped that things would be better soon. Jack pushed her hair back again and slammed the pickaxe into the wall again, watching as something tumbled out and fell at her feet. Grim paused for a moment to sniff at it before she picked it up, but then went right back to digging. If not spectacular was found soon, he figured they might move on. It had given them good luck before, why not have it happen again soon? Jack smiled a little and patted Grim on the back before she bent over and picked up the stone she had dislodged.

The pickaxe was leaned against the wall as she bent over to pick up the rock that had tumbled to her feet. It had to be a stone of some kind, she just didn't know what kind it was going to be at the moment. Not like a stone could change to be something different, not even a prismatic crystal could do that, it was still a prismatic crystal, it just changed colors from time to time. She sat down with the stone in her hand, leaning against the wall. This was more than she'd done in awhile, she needed a bit of a break. "Sorry Grim, gotta take a break," the woman apologized to the halfbreed when he glanced over at her with slight irritation in his eyes. Well, that seemed to be alright at the moment, he thought as his eyes took in her condition, she hadn't pushed herself much for the past few months, he knew her leg had to hurt.

As she stretched her bad leg out in front of her, she winced a little as Grim started to dig again. She couldn't handle her leg some days, she just wished she could cure it and bring it back to what it was like long ago. It was painful to walk on it when it was cold out, and she just hoped at some point in the future she could make it better than it was before the accident happened. If she could learn to regenerate her leg, she would happily cut it off at the moment and then deal with the pain for one more day if it meant good things for life. Sighing, she shook her head and looked at the stone in her hands again before glancing over at Grim. He was lucky, he might know she was hurting, but not how much, and that she might not be much help for the rest of the day.

Grim knew she wouldn't be too much help, but she could still do things and that was fine with him. He glanced over at her and then chuffed from his throat before digging at the wall again, looking for more and more things to find. Jack looked at the stone in her hand and then pulled the mallet and chisel from her wagon. She looked it over and then tapped on the chisel as she held it to the stone with one hand, tapping it with the mallet to try and get some of the rock away from the stone to see what it was. She could refine it down more later in the Workshop if it ever opened up again, but for now she just wanted to know what she had. That was understandable, right? Giving a chuckle, she didn't know what to expect with things at the moment, but she hoped it was something good.

It wouldn't do any good if it was just a rock after all, but she didn't think it would work out that way. It was too circular for it to be just a rock. A few more taps and the stone was revealed by the light of the torch. She smiled a little, an opal, a pretty little stone too, with just the right mix of colors to make her think it would be gorgeous in a teardrop necklace. Oh to be back in the Workshop again, sitting down or standing with the majority of her weight on one leg and just... working. Working inside a building was nice from time to time, she spent so much of her time outside, that is, it was just nice to have that broken up every now and then. She smiled over at Grim and then leaned her head back against the wall, what she wouldn't give to be able to work again.

Several beautiful gems were in the vicinity; all in different places. Someone with an intense psychic connection, or perhaps just some luck, could find a nice pink round stone. Beyond that, perhaps a stone shining like the night sky. Closer to the pair currently in the area, a pale tricolor gem could be unearthed. [26-35]

Maybe it was something one of her animals could do at some point, though she hated to ask one to do that sort of thing. How would she go about training that anyway? If she had no idea what to do with it, then how could she train something to do it? Of course, she didn't know how to fly and she trained that several times. Jack frowned a little as her head rested back on the wall, then turned to looked at the halfbreed as he dug around for a little while. What were they going to do with each other, she wondered? Jack sighed a little and then closed her eyes, wondering what she could do to make her leg better. What side effects would come with it, she wondered? It wasn't like anything could happen, she figured, and as she decided to do things all along, who could she have fix her?

As Jack sat there watching her halfbreed dig at the wall, not being able to do much herself just now because of the pain in her leg, she really hoped that things would work out eventually. She sighed a little and saw Grim glance over at her a little, and she wondered what she was going to do about things for the moment. That was is, she was just going to have to work through the pain. The woman reached out and grabbed her shovel, using it to help her stand up again before she leaned against the wall and started to dig around in the dirt just a little bit. Grim gave her a look of appraisal and then went back to digging at the wall. He wondered if she was going to do this or not, she seemed like the kind of person to push through it and not just sit and wait for it to pass.

Jack dug into the ground in the mines as best as she could as she leaned against the wall. She didn't know what to expect to find, she couldn't really top the pure crystal Grim had found, but maybe she could find a fire crystal or two as time went by. She really hoped to find them on this expedition, but she didn't know if that was going to be possible as of yet. Sure, she could feel something close by, but what it was wasn't easy to discern, at least right now. Surely when they got closer to whatever it was she would be able to feel it a little better. Grim still dug at the wall, wondering what he was going to find next, and then wondered if the woman would find anything again. So far they had been fairly successful, he just didn't know if they would be able to continue that trend.
