All would be well while they mined, she knew that, but she didn't know what they were going to find, and that was always the iffy thing, she knew with a little smile on her face. Jack was sure they would find something good and all that, but didn't know what she wanted to do with it when she found it, that was the hard part. She could always sell her stash or something, but then she would have nothing else, well, there would be credits of course, but she didn't know what she would buy with them. She honestly doubted she would get much for her stash, and she glanced down at Red as she wondered what was going to happen between the two of them after awhile. Hopefully he would trust her well enough, but that was the issue now wasn't it? There was never a good answer for that, but she was sure it would happen.

A soft pink crystal could be seen near a holey-lookin' rock! How lucky? Or unlucky, depending on how you look at it.

While Jack was sure they wouldn't find anything this close to the entrance, she thought she could feel something in there somewhere, which was always a good thing. She wasn't sure what it was, if it was a true crystal or not, but it was close enough, and so she paused, with Red yapping in the bag, and wondered what was going to happen. Jack grinned a little and patted him on the head before putting him and the bag inside of the cart and grabbing the pickax. Part of her thought it was in the wall, so that's where she was going to focus her attention just in case. If she didn't find something soon, then she would change it up and that was going to be fine. Swinging the pickax against the wall, a few rocks spilled out, and she hoped that one of them held a gemstone, which would certainly be nice.

While Red went crazy trying to get out of the bag, she worked on the wall some more, attempting to ignore his whining and yapping, wondering what was going to happen if he didn't calm down. That would be alright, she would tether him to the cart and let him get all dirty, that would be nice. Grinning at herself for the idea, the woman wondered what she was going to do for now as time went on. It was alright no matter what, and the woman let herself get into the rhythm of swinging it over and over again, wondering what they would find. It would be alright as long as they found something, she figured with a little chuckle, and she let herself listen to Red for a little bit before continuing to work some more, intent on finding what was thrumming in the walls at the moment, she had to find it.

Whatever it was, she was going to get to it in time, she just had to deal with Red throwing a tantrum in the background. She knew it had something to do with magic at least, from the way it felt, and the woman smiled a little as she tried to figure out what it was. It was great, she was going to find something amazing and that was all well and good at this point, she was just happy to find something, she knew. Jack pushed her hair back a little and smiled as she worked on the wall, hoping to find whatever was back there before they called it a day. They'd only just gotten there though, so she wasn't sure what to do about it at the moment. Jack grinned a little and shook her head, they would be fine after awhile, both her and Red, and that would be just fine.

Well, at least she was enjoying herself, that's all that mattered wasn't it? She smiled a little and wished she knew what to do other than this, honestly she could probably get to training him already and everything would be fine, but she wasn't going to do that just yet, she figured, she would wait awhile until she knew what to train him, then she would get him ready for his show. It was all well and good for the moment, but Red still wasn't having much fun, but that was alright, he would take a nap soon and that would be fine. At least they were working a little, though she wasn't too worried about him chewing her bag apart, it had seen far worse and the leather and cloth was thicker than his little teeth could gnaw at, at least for now. Smiling to herself, she continued to work, wondering what was back there.

Here, perhaps? The pastel blue leopard found himself before the mine entry, a small sapphire dragon trailing after him. To his eyes, it looked like any other cave. An opening in rocky mountainside which lead to depths unknown. Or maybe somewhat known. People frequented these caves often enough, eager to plunder the riches beneath the earth. He felt he was guilty of this as well, as much as he wanted to blame his rampant wanderlust and its tendency to bring himself to new places. New-ish places, rather. He'd done this mining thing before, and his pack full of well worn equipment proved it. But this area in particular was someplace new for him. " Hello!" ... Hello! ... hello... e l l o... The sound of his voice echoing down the cavern amused him. That never got old. Xentus chuckled to himself, satisfied. Seemed like a good spot, good echo quality. He quickly prepped himself before entering. Pick-axe in hand. Helmet (with holes for his horns and ears) on. Flashlight on. Radio on; playing some smooth jazz. No doubt it would lose signal as he wandered the tunnels, but he'd enjoy it while it lasted. Ready as he could be! The leopard beckoned for his little dragon to follow as he wandered into the maw of the mines. 11

It was Red who alerted her to the noise with yipping, not that she was sure that he actually, well, heard it at this point. Jack paused as she dug the pink crystal out of the wall and stared toward the entrance to the mines, hearing the last of the echo from the voice. Was that actually someone else? She wasn't used to hearing anyone else at this point, and she wondered what was going on. Chewing on her lip for a moment, she finally settled her bag with the Houluh over her shoulder and across her waist, put her tools in the cart, and then pulled it behind her to see what that noise was. Usually she wasn't that curious, but it was the mines, so she had to figure out what was going on at the moment. Smiling at little to herself, she kept her free hand on Red's head as she walked, calming the pup. "Oh, hello!" she finally said when she came across the man.

The daylight illuminating the path ahead soon reached its end, leaving nothing but the glow from the flashlight to lead the way. The radio already struggled to catch a signal, its music staticy and waning, buffered by the rocky walls. He sighed, slinging his pack over to reach inside and turn it off. So much for that lasting. Not that he expected it to, just that it would've been nice if it did. Maybe he'd come back out soon for some tunes once he grew bored of the cavern. Though he had the feeling that would take some time, considering how the little gem dragon accompanying him enjoyed digging and chewing on rocks. That was fun to watch.
It wasn't but a brief trek before his light happened upon someone and their cart. The leopard give a friendly smile and small wave in return, "Hello there. This one hopes he does not intrude on your spot?" He didn't consider that he'd come across anyone else so soon, but was glad he made his presence known with his silly echo, at the very least. The last thing he wanted was to surprise some miner in the middle of a pick-axe swing..

Jack was startled a little to see someone she didn't know, she thought she knew most people in the Labs at this point. But this was great, she loved meeting new people and seeing what they had to offer to the world. Smiling, she bowed her head a little, "Oh no, you're perfectly fine. I came back up to see who's echo that was!" Red poked his head out of her bag and yipped until she gave him a little treat and put her hand on his head, "I'm Jack, this is Red. Would you like to join us in mining? If not that's fine, but it's much more fun to do it with other people." Again, she bowed her head a little at the formalness of his speech, and the woman smiled a little at the same time. Hearing how others talked was interesting, it really put things in perspective that they all had different backgrounds.

Seemed like he happened upon a woman and her young pup. Not the kind of pair he would expect to see in the mines, though he wasn't too surprised. You could stumble upon just about anyone, anywhere in this place. The city was a delightful mixed bag of peoples. Thankfully, this person was was of the pleasant sort. Xentus was actually a little taken aback by the small head bows though even if he appreciated the gesture. The formal sort they were too.
"Ah, he hopes that did not startle you", the leopard said a bit sheepishly. Thinking back, he hadn't considered anyone being within earshot before calling into the depths. Something new to be mindful of. Nevertheless, he continued on to introduce himself; "This one is called Xentus", he lightly bowed with a clawed hand over his chest, then gestured the blue gem dragon, "and his company is Gid." The creature hobbled to its master's side, faint blue flecks of light reflecting from its body. Xentus always found it to be a peculiar beast, but it made itself useful underground.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Jack, Red", he said with a growing grin, "It would be a delight to accompany you."

Smiling happily, Jack nodded and motioned to her cart and his backpack, "It's nice to meet you Xentus, and you Gid. I see you have a backpack! It's really useful down here to haul all of your equipment and any finds you might get here. Is there anything you're looking for specifically?" He had a peculiar way of speaking, but she really liked it, she figured, and she smiled some more, a little bigger this time. It would be good to see if he was after anything special, that way there would be no arguing or anything with this new acquaintance of hers when it was all said and done. She was just looking for order crystals, though she wouldn't argue with any of them at this point. She just hoped to find something good, and that would be the end of it. Once Xentus answered, they could get down to business and work together in the mines.

The minerals are very scattered; one in a wall here, one over there in a boulder, but they are all visible in the light of a flashlight. [to 15]

Haha yes, he had a backpack for carrying things, as its purpose deigned. Would she care to point that his pants covered his legs and seemed comfy to wear? He almost chuckled at the notion, but managed to contain it in favor of a smile; chalking the observation to be the woman simply being chatty and polite. These were the fun sorts of people, bringing attention to the things many would simply gloss over. A useful trait to have when overlooking a mere rock could mean passing by a rare and beautiful crystal.
"This one seeks nothing in particular, truthfully. Only whatever the earth wishes to offer", he answered, then raised his own question, "And you? Seeking any particular gem? Xentus will be sure to keep an eye out if so, and try to keep his dragon from feasting on it." The last bit was said with a laugh. The gem dragon had a keen ability to seek out interesting gems and did enjoy snacking on them. It was already scratching at the ground, eager to find something. Thankfully, Xentus was prepared with some poor quality gem-snacks to swap out whatever valuable find the creature managed to dig up.
