So those fossils actually did have a use, that was something new. She stared down at the little pink and purple dinosaur in the cart and then tilted her head this way and that, trying to figure out what was going on with him. Hmm, he was weird, that was to be sure, and little, and she wondered what she should feed him as he grew, but until then she would just... have him around? She guessed? Shaking her head, she realized she knew nothing about fossils or reviving them, but she had tried her hand at it anyway and so here she was with a little Longneck and she didn't know what to do with it. Him. It was a him. Frowning again, she sighed a little and then pulled him out of the cart and put him into her bag, his long neck sticking out a little to see what he could see.

She supposed these animals needed food and water and stuff like normal animals, they were just... revived somehow. Staring at the little pink dinosaur in her bag, she shook her head again before grabbing onto the cart and hauling it into the mines. Maybe it would have been best to bring Goran along with her as well, this dude wouldn't be doing her any favors until he had grown and all, but that was fine, she could handle most things on her own she figured, and she smiled down at Bigfoot for a little while as she walked, wondering if he would help her out in the mines or not. If not, well, that was alright, they had other things they could do, and this way maybe she could find some more fossils or keystones or whatever it was they were called whenever she took them to the museum. Whatever, it would work.

With everything else that was going on for now, what with all the Sarane and Houluh she needed to train and grow and all that, she wondered how she would have time to feed this little thing everything she wanted to feed to it. She'd passed by Nature's Bounty a few times and eyed their stock, not thinking she would ever need them, but here she was with a little thing of her own and she needed to feed it special nutrients for it to grow up in the museum or whatever. Personally she knew part of what she wanted, just from the descriptions, but for the others? There was no real way for her to tell, and it bothered her, she figured as she hauled the cart down the mines, the Longneck still peering from her bag. Things were getting interesting, and she knew it would be awhile for her to grow the thing, but hey, it would be worth it she supposed.

She heaved a sigh as she paused to take a little drink. It was a good thing she had her magic to refill it if she needed to, of course, but for now she wanted to save it just in case. One never knew what was going to happen in the mines and she liked to be prepared. The glow of the light on her cart shined off of the stones in the walls of the mines, but she didn't want to stop just yet, she didn't feel that thrumming feeling just yet, and she wanted to go until she could feel it. If she could feel it on this trip at least. Bigfoot was still staring out of her bag, wide eyed and confused. He had come back from the fossils and wasn't sure what was going on around him at the moment, though he was sure the woman might have some explanation for it at some point.

It would all be alright, Jack knew it would be, and she hoped that Bigfoot would be alright in the mines with her. He was pretty small, but at least he didn't blend in with his surroundings like the other revived fossils that had been done at the same time would have if brought to the mines. Apparently everyone but her had used a black marquise stone, whereas she had used purples with both of her first ones. After those two, she had turned in some more fossils and gotten a flyer and a bug thing that weirded her out more than a little, but hey, as long as she didn't wake up with it in her face, all would be well. Truth be told, she was more excited about Bigfoot and Toothy than the other two, but she was sure they would figure out what to do with them later on in life.

Bigfoot… The name amused her a little she thought as she walked down deeper into the mines with a smile on her face. There was nothing big about him, at least not yet, but she had an idea and would go with that for a little while at least. Jack just didn’t know how big he would get if she fed him all of that, but she hoped he would be huge. Maybe not super strong, but huge would be nice, she liked big animals and she knew it would be for the best if she tried to make him as big as possible. Sure he might not be as strong, but there were some things he could do that would take up the bulk of his body in an attack, not that she would probably have him fight too much. Getting an animal to fight that was an herbivore, probably at least, was hard enough at some points, and she hoped that things were going to be fine no matter what happened.

He was pretty happy in her bag though, she had to admit to that much, or at least he seemed pretty happy in her bag. All he was doing as peering around, seeing everything he could see, the glittering stones in the walls and all that. A few animals scurried around, but she didn’t bother herself with any of them, not anymore at least. There was once when she was new to the mines she would try to catch as many as humanely possible, but that was behind her now, and she wasn’t sure what was going to happen to herself at the moment. Jack rubbed her face with her free hand, the other hand still dragging the cart behind her as she went deeper and deeper, to where not many people dug so hopefully she could find something good. It didn’t matter too much at the moment, but at least she had something to do right now.

At least life would be interesting once he grew up, but that was going to take a looong time. She sighed again and shook her head, hoping that things would work out for her, but knowing it was going to take forever to get things done at the moment. Whatever, it would be worth it, but for now she needed to focus on what was going on in the mines and what she would be able to find while they were down there. Finally she stopped and patted Bigfoot’s head for a moment before setting the bag inside of the cart after opening it up and letting him wander inside of it. What was going to happen if he ran off? Oh well, at least he was bright, and that was the best part of him being such a pale purple, or really pink, she supposed. The light would reflect off of him pretty well, she figured.

The mines had a weird pull for the woman, and she wondered if it was partly because of the magic that flowed through it in the form of the magical crystals, and partly because it was nice and cool on hot days, and nice and warm on cold days. Either way, she liked the mines, she liked to find things, and she hoped that she wasn’t too terribly odd when it all came down to things right now. Smiling, Jack hoped that everything would go well in the end, but there was no real way to tell. As she glanced over at Bigfoot, the woman hoped she would like the way he grew up later on, but there was no real way to tell for sure. Maybe she should be training a Houluh alongside him, that might make it a little interesting, she figured. But no, this would be fine, she knew, and she dug around for her tools.

Jack patted the little Longneck on the head again and then pulled out her shovel. Since Goran wasn’t with her today for whatever reason she had decided, she figured it wouldn’t hurt for her to start the digging process as Bigfoot watched from the cart. Everything would go well when it came down to it, and she smiled a little as she thought of it wondering what was going to happen. At least life was interesting right now with all of the developments that were occurring in her life, and she smiled a little as she overturned some of the dirt on the ground, hoping to find something good instead of just rocks. This was a little used area it seemed, and she hoped that everything would be well. Jack flipped her hair back and then plopped her hat onto her head to keep it back. It was time for a new haircut, apparently, which kind of ruined the day.

There wasn’t much in the area for now, but she knew it would only change as time went on. Things moved, though rock didn’t move as much as anything else, which was fine, and she hoped that she would find a few crystals she needed for her newest node she wanted to make, though it would probably be the next year until she could get it at this point. Good thing she had made a node this year, she figured. Smiling and waving at Bigfoot a little, she stopped for a few moments and collected herself a bit. It was hard work in the mines, and not for the first time she found herself wishing Goran was there. The gargoyle was stoic but seemed to like her well enough, which was definitely a good thing when she thought about it. Jack wiped her brow on the back of her hand and stared off toward where she knew the entrance of the mine was. Things would be different if he was there, she knew, and it was something that she hoped to do later on and all that. Maybe he would find some better stuff for her if he was there, but there was no way to be certain just yet.

Unknown to her, a glowing purple creature had entered the mines and paused to sniff the air for a moment or two before moving on again. He knew she needed him sometimes, he could feel her emotions like some of her other animals, but it was a pretty decent connection between the two, he was her favorite familiar after all. Jack dug in the ground, wishing he was there as she glanced up at Bigfoot from time to time. Part of her really wanted this to be done, part of her really wished she could grow him already, but that wasn’t the way this worked, they had to have that connection before it all could happen, and dammit she would do it that way, if only to see what would happen. It didn’t help there were three other revived fossils back at the Kennel that she would need to work with soon enough, but oh well, it didn’t really matter at the moment, just a lot of digging and such for now, hopefully finding some crystals and all that so she wouldn’t have to wait as long for the next node. The waiting killed her, she liked to think she was patient but she knew better than that right now at least.

He strode with purpose to his step as he trotted further into the mines, nose to the ground, sniffing out where she was. Part of him knew she needed him, and part of him just wanted to be there. He didn’t know what other animal she had with her at the moment, which was an issue, he felt, but he could defend himself as necessary, just in case. Jack smiled at the floor of the mines and reached down inside of the hole to pick up a small stone, turning it over in her hands. It was much harder than the others had been, the rest had just been packed dirt for now, but this actually had some weight to it. Glancing at Bigfoot as she reached for her hammer and chisel to break it open, she wished she knew if he was growing or not. It took the nutrients to do it though, she knew that, they didn’t grow like normal animals, and that was something she was going to have to remind herself about at the moment. Sighing, she just hoped that everything would turn out well and she would actually find something sometime, that was what she really wanted. All this work without reward was hard, but not undoable.

With whatever he was doing going on, he wished he was there already of course. It took awhile for him to get there, she had gone down quite a bit at this point, stopping wherever she had stopped at this point, and he wondered if she even knew where she was. Already he’d gone rather deep into the mines, which was an issue no matter what, they were getting close to the root of the mountain, which seemed to house… many different things, honestly. A shiver ran down his rocky back as he thought about it, and the gargoyle frowned a little in thought. As she dug away at the rock a little, the little Longneck stuck his neck out of the cart and sniffed a little at the ground. He wasn’t sure about this place, but he also knew he was safe with the woman, it would seem. She smelled nice, like she had some food for him or something, but there was no way to know for sure, he knew. Titling his head, he opened his mouth and made the tiniest little bugling noise, making the woman smile at him a bit. At least he’d gotten that much out of her, and her eyes sparkled as she looked over at him. Maybe this wasn’t so bad, being alive.

Whatever happened, he would find her, and that was that. He just hoped she would be alright once he got there, that was the issue. Of course she could handle herself, he had to remember that, but he didn’t feel as though things were going to get out of control if he wasn’t there. Another frown crossed his beak as he trotted further and further into the mines, finally starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel, so the saying went. He chirped loudly and trotted forward, still sniffing for her scent as he went, and then he finally saw the cart before he knew she would see him. Oh but she did see him, it did take her a moment or two to look up at Bigfoot’s insistence, but she finally saw the purple glow further up the tunnel, which made her smile in exasperation. Goran knew when he was needed, of course, but that didn’t mean she actually wanted him there. That was the issue, she didn’t know if she could handle multiple animals at a time, it had been quite some time since she had done that, which was definitely an issue, but if he was there, then maybe they could find some better stones. Standing up and brushing off her pants, she walked over to him.
